Akiko broke free. "It's okay, it's all in the past. If she were still alive..." Akiko's voice choked up, and she didn't finish her sentence before heading straight to the kitchen.
Teppei stood there looking at Akiko, his eyes unfathomable.
Tang Yue raised an eyebrow. These two seemed to have quite a story. Neither of them were simple. Her hands were itching to do something. She really wanted to give them some truth serum.
Qiu Zi quickly cooked the noodles, opened the door, and smiled at Tang Yue. "We've been talking for so long, and I still don't know your name."
"My name is Du Kong."
"Du Kong, that sounds like a very nice name."
Thank you for your compliment.
"You're welcome. The food is ready. Come inside and eat."
"Okay, thank you."
Tang Yue followed her into the house. Surprisingly, Qiu Zi's cooking skills were quite good; what looked like a simple bowl of pork noodles tasted surprisingly delicious.
"Wow, your noodles are absolutely delicious. Thank you so much!"
Seeing Tang Yue enjoying her meal, Qiu Zi's gaze drifted away unconsciously, lost in thought. She only snapped back to reality when she felt someone watching her. Zhe Ping gave Qiu Zi a reproachful look.
Akiko smiled. "Don't be shy, are you full? If you'd like some more..."
"No need, I'm full." Actually, Tang Yue wasn't very full, but she knew that Qiu Zi had only cooked one bowl for everyone. And because she was a child, she had deliberately given her less.
Qiu Zi seemed quite satisfied with Tang Yue's actions. Tang Yue didn't help Qiu Zi wash the dishes; instead, she waited in the living room, neither looking around nor getting up to wander off.
This pleased Zheping greatly.
By the time Qiu Zi finished getting ready, it was getting dark outside. Tang Yue looked at the sky, a conflicted expression on her face. After a while, she seemed to have made up her mind and bowed to Qiu Zi and Zhe Ping.
"Thank you both very much for your hospitality. It's getting late, so I should go now."
Teppei made no attempt to stop her. Akiko seemed to hesitate for a moment, but seeing Teppei's disapproving expression, she ultimately did not try to persuade him to stay.
"Okay, then drive carefully."
"Yes, I will. Thank you both again."
After that, Tang Yue left Qiu Zi's house and headed towards the town, soon leaving the village.
Akiko watched the child's departing figure from the courtyard gate for a long time before returning to the house.
What are you looking at?
Akiko seemed to be in a bad mood and didn't want to talk to Teppei. Teppei followed behind her. "Akiko, don't forget who we are. What you're doing will have terrible consequences."
