Chapter 417 The Satellite Is With Me

417

Tang Jianye understood Tang Yue's meaning. Looking at the time, it was only a little past 8:30. In Northeast China, it gets dark very early. "Little Yueyue, what if they're asleep? Is it appropriate for us to go over there?"

Tang Yue didn't care whether it was appropriate or not; she was planning to go to Kyoto tomorrow, and if she didn't go now to explain things, it would be too late tomorrow.

"Tang Jianye, I'm entrusting my sister Lai and those guys in the cowshed to you. I hope you'll take good care of them."

Tang Jianye waved his hand, "Little Yueyue, why are you being so polite with me? We're like family."

Tang Yue took out a pack of cigarettes, four bottles of wine, three catties of brown sugar, and a can of milk powder from her spatial storage. After thinking for a moment, she took out two rolls of fine cotton cloth. Just as she was thinking about what else to take out, Tang Jianye couldn't stand it anymore.

"Alright, Yueyue, do you know how much these things are worth? It's all so dazzling. Two bottles of wine, a carton of cigarettes, a pound of brown sugar, and a can of milk powder. These are considered extravagant gifts even in Kyoto. Put the rest away."

Tang Yue pouted. However, she listened to advice. In these areas, Tang Jianye and the others were actually much better than her. She truly had absolutely no experience.

The captain was indeed asleep. However, with the recent constant raids on spies, the captain had developed a conditioned reflex to the sound of a knock on the door.

The captain and his wife quickly got up. They dressed and went out to open the door. They were surprised to see Tang Jianye and Tang Yue. Tang Jianye and Tang Yue didn't go inside. They chatted with the captain for a few words, put their things down, and drove away.

Everyone's asleep; there's no need for them to go in and disturb them. Their goal has been achieved.

When the brigade leader and his wife brought the items into the house and saw what they were by the light of a kerosene lamp, they were speechless with astonishment.

"Oh dear, this won't do. This is too much. We can't accept this."

The brigade leader's wife grabbed him, "Why are you running out in the middle of the night? Huh? How can you catch up with me? I could tell last time that they used flour to exchange for workers. That girl isn't the kind of girl that an ordinary family can raise."

"They told us to take better care of that Lai educated youth, and also the cowshed. You weren't planning on doing anything to them, but now things are even better."

"Keep a close eye on Lai Zhiqing. She lives alone in such a big courtyard now; quite a few people in the village are eyeing her."

The brigade leader glared at him, and his wife raised her chin and shouted at him, "What are you arguing about? Huh? It's not like I'm after her. That girl is pretty, educated, and rich. Which family wouldn't want to bring her back as their daughter-in-law?"

“If I weren’t your wife, I would definitely go and fight for her.”

The brigade leader was furious, but he couldn't say his wife was wrong. Indeed, Lai Zhiqing's conditions were too good. That's why she attracted so much attention. He sat down on the kang (a heated brick bed), "Sigh, when the snow melts in the spring, we'll ask Lai Zhiqing. If she agrees, we'll have to build a wall around her yard. Otherwise, it's still not safe for her."

The brigade leader's wife got into bed. "Alright, go to sleep. You've always been attentive enough. We have nothing to be ashamed of taking these things. Ah, the air in the village is so fresh now."

The captain leaned against the wall, smoking. "Yeah, things have been really quiet in the village lately since those spies were arrested. Even those hooligans don't dare to cause trouble anymore."

"Are you really leaving tomorrow? Little Yueyue, stay a few more days! Who knows when we'll see each other again."

Tang Yue sat in the back seat, lost in thought, ignoring Tang Jianye's attempts to dissuade her. The next day, Tang Yue boarded the train to Kyoto. Tang Jianye had asked their battalion commander to buy the ticket, securing a sleeper berth. If Tang Yue were on her own, given her current official position, she would still only be able to sit in a hard seat.

This was the only time Tang Yue felt the train journey was peaceful. They arrived in Kyoto in complete silence. It was already evening when they reached the station. Tang Yue randomly chose a state-run restaurant to eat at, only to find it was closed when she arrived.

Tang Yue then realized that this wasn't Japan or Russia. State-run restaurants in China have very strict schedules. She could only have a large meal at a Russian restaurant in her spatial dimension.

Looking at the things piled up everywhere in the space—by the river, on the mountain, and in the fields—Tang Yue narrowed her eyes. If these things could float in the air, she could actually hold even more.

Oh well, I'll have to get the pins and the others to help build more warehouses when I have time. This place is still too messy.

Once outside the spatial dimension, Tang Yue's consciousness followed the route directly to Mr. Qi's office. Sure enough, Mr. Qi was still working at his desk. Tang Yue shook her head helplessly. Luckily, his body was as strong as an ox; otherwise, working at such a high intensity for so long would have left him utterly exhausted.

Mr. Qi was working with his head down when he felt a stiffness in his neck. He got up to stretch, and saw Tang Yue sitting across from him at his desk. Mr. Qi was curious; he was sure no one had come to tell him that the child was coming.

Before Mr. Qi could even speak, Tang Yue had already pulled his wrist to take his pulse. Mr. Qi smiled, sat down again, and even offered his arm to Tang Yue so she could reach it.

After taking both of his pulses, Tang Yue's face turned serious. "Mr. Qi, even if you feel better, you still need to rest. They say health is the foundation of everything. If you keep taking it out like this, your body will eventually be depleted."

Mr. Qi smiled at Tang Yue, "It's alright, isn't it because of you? With Comrade Tang's treatment, I feel more normal than a normal person."

Tang Yue shrugged indifferently. "Your body is your own, sir. My opinion doesn't count."

Mr. Qi laughed, "Comrade Tang Yue, what brings you here?" He deliberately leaned forward as he said this, "You went to Russia?"
