Extra 16
I don't know if I'm right to call this bad news. People say that when bad luck reaches its extreme, it rebounds. But when my third brother came home with a broken leg, my family almost collapsed.
My third brother stopped breathing several times, but I was truly unwilling to give up. I called out to him again and again. Perhaps my third brother really couldn't bear to leave me and the children, so he pulled through each time.
The turning point for my family was the day Yueyue was almost buried alive by my brother-in-law. After that, my world completely changed. For the first time, I resolutely picked up a kitchen knife and attacked someone. At that moment, I had only one thought: I had to protect my child, I had to protect my home.
I've never had a home before, and I absolutely cannot lose one this time. That time, I discovered that I could be strong, that I could become a protective tree for children.
However, no one had ever told me these things before, and I figured out most of the things I did on my own. What makes me happiest is that my little daughter, Yueyue, is getting better day by day.
I'm so happy! My daughter used to talk like a kitten, and she was almost always lying down. I never imagined she was so amazing. I'm incredibly proud. Especially after she killed off spies time and time again, I feel like there's no one in the world more capable than my daughter.
Later, our family moved to the South Island. Gradually, I realized that my daughter was indeed remarkable, but she spent less and less time with me. I often sat in the yard, gazing at the front gate, hoping that little figure would walk in from outside.
However, such a scene has almost never occurred. My daughter is too busy; she became a company commander at such a young age. If it weren't for her, our family wouldn't have been able to move into the military family compound. Our safety and well-being are all thanks to my daughter.
Perhaps it's been too long since my father left, because I can no longer remember what he looked like.
That day, I felt no different from any other. My three sons had all returned from the battlefield, spending the last few days in their units on the South Island doing final handover. My daughter was still not home; I didn't even know if she was in China or had gone to some other country.
I helped Xixi tidy up the house. It was quite simple to tidy up our things, since everyone in the family has their own storage ring, and almost all their belongings are in their personal space. There were only some ordinary household items in the house.
Xixi has already reached the second level of Qi Refining. The little boy is lively and cute, and he is the one who looks most like Yueyue among the children.
"Xixi, there's a knock at the door. Go open it for Mom."
Xixi tiptoed to open the door. He was now just tall enough to reach the bolt. Pushing open the door, he saw a weary-looking elderly couple standing outside. The old man and woman looked down at the little figure on the floor with loving expressions.
Xi Xi blinked his big eyes, certain he had never seen these two old people before. "Who are you looking for?"
Both Mr. Ke and Liu Ting knew that Xiao Yueyue had a younger brother named Xixi, who was Cuicui's youngest child. This must be the one.
"Are you Xixi? Is your mother home?" Liu Ting asked, fighting back tears.
Xixi didn't know why the old lady was crying. He nodded and said, "Mom, someone is looking for you outside."
As I stepped out of the house and saw the elderly couple at the door, my heart skipped a beat. I didn't quite understand what was wrong with me. Sick? That seemed unlikely; I hadn't been sick for over two years.
"You're looking for me?" I'm not that wild child who used to run around in the mountains anymore. After living among people for so many years, I understand everything. Then I remembered the things my grandmother used to scold me with when I was little.
Especially this old lady in front of me, although she has many wrinkles on her face, her appearance is similar to mine in many ways.
Thinking of Queen Chu, I felt little emotion. "Please come in, both of you."
Grandpa Ke and Liu Ting, their eyes red, followed me into the courtyard. I noticed that both elderly people were very emotional; their hands were trembling. I sighed inwardly. Actually, I was quite satisfied with my current home; I didn't value those childhood wishes anymore.
Third Brother, perhaps having heard the news, ran back breathlessly. As soon as he entered the courtyard, seeing the two elderly people sitting on the stone bench, he immediately ran over, stood at attention, and saluted.
"Greetings, sir. I am Tang Shengkai, the husband of Comrade Lin Cuicui."
The two elderly people stood up, especially the old man, whose demeanor immediately changed. He returned the greeting to the third brother. Tang Shengkai immediately pulled me in front of the two elderly people.
“Cui Cui, these two are your biological parents.”
My suspicions were confirmed. I smiled at the two elderly people and said, "Hello."
Those three simple words brought tears to the eyes of the two elderly people instantly. My heart is soft, and seeing them crying so sadly, I couldn't bear it.
"Don't cry. We've been doing well all these years, haven't we?"
Liu Ting looked at me with surprise, "You, you know about us?"
I looked back at her. "Suddenly, I remembered a lot of things that happened when I was little. I couldn't understand them before, but now I do." I didn't mention how my grandmother used to beat and scold me. What did those things matter anyway?
In the end, my father was truly good to me. Because of me, he was lonely his whole life. Although I grew up without a mother, I feel that I was happy during that time.
As Old Ke watched my calm expression gradually subside, he looked at Third Brother and asked, "How did you know?"
Third Brother smiled, “When Father entrusted Cuicui to me, he told me this. He said that if I ever became capable, he hoped I could help Cuicui find her biological parents. He also said that he had failed their trust and had not taken good care of Cuicui.”
The military region commander just contacted me and said that you two had come to my house, and also explained the purpose of the visit. I think there must be no mistake.
I never imagined that my third brother already knew about my background, and I looked at my third brother.
Third Brother held my hand and said, “Cui Cui, they really had a hard time. They must have had a hard time finding you. When Father went to heaven, he hoped that you could find your biological parents and live a good life in the future.”
I suddenly choked up. I missed my father. I missed him so much.
Liu Ting couldn't hold back any longer and hugged me tightly. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry, baby, it's all our fault. We should have found you sooner."
I gently patted her back. Sigh, actually, I've been quite fortunate in my life. The hardest times were only a few months; everything is in the past now. Now that they've found me, wouldn't it be wrong to deny it?
I looked at my third brother and asked, "Should we admit it?"
My third brother looked at me with a smile and nodded solemnly. I smiled as I held the old lady in my arms.
