The two faced off on the sea. Suddenly, the man swam towards Lin Cuicui with the agility of a seal. Lin Cuicui raised her pistol and warned, "Don't come any closer! If you do, I'll really shoot!"
But the man remained unmoved, instead increasing his speed. Just as he was about to pounce on her, Lin Cuicui fired again, this time hitting the man in the shoulder.
The man cried out in pain, but he did not give up. He gritted his teeth and continued to rush forward, grabbing Lin Cuicui's hand that was holding the gun. The two began to wrestle in the water.
Lin Cuicui couldn't swim to begin with. She had to keep an eye on herself in the sea while also fighting the man. In the chaos, she accidentally dropped her pistol and it sank to the bottom of the sea.
Having lost her weapon, Lin Cuicui could only fight the man with her indomitable will. It wasn't that she didn't want to take out her gun again; it was mainly that even if she did, she couldn't hit him.
Her marksmanship wasn't particularly good to begin with, and now that they were in the sea, she figured she would have sunk long ago if she didn't have spiritual power. The two of them tumbled in the water, sometimes sinking and sometimes surfacing, each collision accompanied by a huge splash.
Suddenly, an undercurrent swept in, pulling them into a huge vortex. Lin Cuicui felt her body being pulled by a powerful force, unable to break free.
The man was also somewhat flustered by this force, but he still did not let go of Lin Cuicui.
In the vortex, Lin Cuicui's consciousness began to blur. She felt her body getting heavier and heavier, and her breathing became more and more difficult.
Just when she was about to despair, shouts came from afar. Hearing someone calling her name, Lin Cuicui immediately rallied her spirits.
She struggled to open her eyes and saw a large ship sailing towards her, with people on board waving their arms as if searching for something.
A glimmer of hope ignited in Lin Cuicui's heart. With her last ounce of strength, she struggled desperately, trying to attract the attention of the people on the small boat...
The man was also exhausted. He hadn't expected that this woman, who was originally frail and had worked in the fields for many years, would lose so much strength after a year or two of inactivity. He could easily handle her by himself.
However, just to be on the safe side, they still dispatched five people. One person drove a speedboat to provide support, and four remained on the larger boat. But while on the boat, he saw that one of his companions was seriously injured. The companion who had just been providing support on the speedboat had also perished.
The man looked at Lin Cuicui as if she were dead. If it weren't for the mission requirement that he couldn't kill this woman, he would have killed her by any means necessary.
However, this woman was incredibly strong, and perhaps she knew something beforehand, because she was carrying several guns. This is what led to his injury.
Lin Cuicui was too exhausted to fight back. She gradually relaxed, and the man, thinking she was too weak to struggle, lowered his guard. However, he also heard the shouts from the large ship in the distance. He had to get out of there quickly.
Just then, a gunshot rang out. The man stared in disbelief at the woman holding the trembling pistol. He never imagined he would die at the hands of such a woman.
Watching the man slowly sink until he disappeared from sight, Lin Cuicui finally breathed a sigh of relief. At the same time, she put the pistol into her storage ring and helplessly let the seawater sway her along.
Before she lost consciousness, all she could think about was what Commander Kang's plan was, and why no one was coming to pick her up even in her current state.
In fact, Lin Cuicui had really wronged Commander Kang. Commander Kang's plan was very meticulous. Not only did he have people on the boat Lin Cuicui was on, but he also secretly arranged for several other boats to be deployed along the coastline where speedboats and large ships could escape.
However, the man in the cadre uniform on the large ship was a section chief at the South Island Sugar Factory, and they genuinely didn't know he was a spy. So, while Lin Cuicui was clashing with the "old woman," the soldiers were already approaching.
However, there were always people intentionally or unintentionally obstructing things, and since a conflict hadn't occurred yet, they couldn't be too obvious about it. So, when the cadre-clothed man pressed a gun against Lin Cuicui's waist, they were a step too late.
Despite all that has been said, Lin Cuicui's fall into the water actually happened in an instant. The speedboat was moving too fast, and they were also held back by the people on the larger boat, making it impossible for them to escape.
Fortunately, the signal was sent out in time, and the ships responsible for interception in the distance began to move, managing to pull Lin Cuicui from the sea. Seeing that she was unconscious, everyone was in a flurry of activity.
Everyone on the large ship was taken into custody. There were still spies remaining from all three countries, and with the truth serum, the Southern Island would surely be able to eliminate another wave of spies. However, the danger to the Tang family was still not over.
Wei Xin was also taken back to the military base and locked up in the interrogation room.
Even in winter, the interrogation room in the South Island was filled with a damp, musty smell, and an old incandescent bulb crackled overhead, casting flickering light.
Wei Xin sat on a mottled wooden chair, her hands cuffed behind her back, yet she maintained a calm demeanor, her eyes even carrying a hint of grievance.
Behind the interrogation table, Zhou Zhikai, the head of the second interrogation team, looked solemn, with two experienced interrogators sitting beside him.
A thick stack of documents lay before them, including records of Wei Xin's recent suspicious activities. "Wei Xin, truthfully confess your relationship with those spies, and strive for leniency," Zhou Zhikai spoke first, his voice deep and authoritative.
Wei Xin raised her head slightly, her face showing an innocent expression. "Commander Zhou, I don't know what you're talking about. I'm just an ordinary military dependent. Encountering those people on the ship was completely accidental. I'm a victim too!"
