Chapter 314 A Huge Misunderstanding

314

The young man, who had initially been looking friendly and was about to respond to Gu Yanxi's kind inquiry, suddenly turned grim when his gaze inadvertently swept over the conspicuous Japanese insignia on Tang Yue's ship, as if shrouded in frost.

His muscles were taut, every line conveying alertness and defensiveness, and his eyes revealed undisguised anger and hostility.

What does this person mean? Do they think they can be trusted just because someone says a few words? There isn't a single good person among the Japanese.

In this sea area, the appearance of Japanese ships meant seizure and threat. Past disputes and recent conflicts flashed through his mind, old and new grudges intertwined, and his heart was filled with anger.

He pretended to nod to Gu Yanxi, then quickly lowered his head, using a seemingly unintentional movement to conceal his gesture, sending a series of cryptic signals to the surrounding fishermen.

His fingers moved rapidly, sometimes clenching into a fist, sometimes pointing at Tang Yue's boat, his arm trembling slightly—a mixture of anger and tension. His gaze frequently swept over Gu Yanxi and Tang Yue's boat, his eyes filled with suppressed, restrained emotions.

The surrounding fishermen understood immediately, their tired faces instantly filled with fighting spirit. They quickly gripped their tools, some picking up fishing spears, others tightly binding ropes to their hands, ready to engage in battle at any moment, and the atmosphere instantly became tense.

Gu Yanxi keenly noticed the young man's unusual behavior, and following his gaze, she instantly understood what he had misunderstood.

He frowned, took a step forward, and slammed his feet heavily on the deck, making a dull thud, while staring intently at the young man: "Wait! Are you mistaken? We're not Japanese!"

His voice echoed across the sea, carrying a hint of seriousness, but was mercilessly dispersed by the sea breeze.

The young man acted as if he hadn't heard Gu Yanxi's voice, and the fishermen on the nearby fishing boats began to stir.

Gu Yanxi was getting anxious. He didn't want his own people fighting each other, especially since these were ordinary civilians who had just fought for China's territorial waters. He waved to the young man while trying to explain their identities and purpose.

He spoke very quickly, his words pouring out like a machine gun: "Hey kid, we really are Chinese. Shouldn't we at least verify that? Your arbitrary pronouncements could easily lead to our own people fighting each other."

Tang Yue stood at the bow of the boat, taking in everything. The young man was completely oblivious to Gu Yanxi's shouts. The timing of their appearance was too coincidental, making it hard not to suspect something.

Watching the fishermen, their bodies heavy, quietly loading the usable muskets and cannons, she couldn't think too much. She quickly raised her jade-like hand and swiftly formed a hand seal in the air.

Her fingers danced nimbly, as if weaving an invisible net; every movement was fluid and natural, carrying a unique rhythm.

As she formed the hand seals, an invisible surge of spiritual energy emanated from her and spread outwards. This surge of spiritual energy was like ripples spreading across a calm lake after a boulder was thrown in, rapidly reaching every corner.

Wherever the spiritual energy reached, the air seemed to freeze. The fishermen felt a powerful force binding them tightly, and their bodies instantly stiffened, unable to move.

Their faces showed fear and confusion, their eyes wide open, their mouths slightly agape, as if they wanted to shout but no sound came out. Their bodies remained in attack stances, some had just raised their harpoons, others were aiming, but they were frozen in place by this sudden spiritual power, as if they had been frozen in a scene.

Gu Yanxi breathed a sigh of relief, then shook his head. That was close. He shrugged helplessly, looking at the young man on the fishing boat not far away who was staring intently at him. He shrugged again helplessly, then looked at Tang Yue.

Can they hear me?

Tang Yue nodded. Gu Yanxi then turned to look at the young man, "Hey, buddy, you guys have really misunderstood. We really are Chinese." As he spoke, many Chinese people had already come out of the cabin.

They looked at the Chinese people on the fishing boat, their eyes glistening with tears. Although they didn't know these people, they were compatriots. Seeing them made them feel like they were home.

She even lost control of her emotions and started crying.

"They are Chinese, they are our fellow countrymen. We're home, hehe, boohoo, we're home."

"Yes, these are all our compatriots. We're home, we're home. From now on, we'll never be bullied by those damned Japanese again."

"Yes, that's great, that's really great."

As they spoke, some people knelt down before Tang Yue and Gu Yanxi, overwhelmed with excitement and joy. Finally, their only hope in this life had come true.

Gu Yanxi couldn't continue speaking. He quickly reached out to help the person up. The fishing boats on both sides were not far apart, and it seemed that even the sea breeze was reluctant to disturb this touching scene. Therefore, the Chinese fishermen also heard the conversation.

The young man wondered to himself, had he really misunderstood these people? Were they really Chinese? Or were they just acting?

Then he laughed self-deprecatingly. What were they? Who would go to such lengths to fool a few fishermen who couldn't even afford to eat?

The other fishermen also had their own thoughts. It seemed they really weren't Japanese; they had almost gotten into a fight with their own people.

Seeing that the fishermen's expressions had softened slightly, Tang Yue knew they must have understood. She withdrew her spiritual energy. Once the fishermen realized they could move again, they looked at each other and immediately knelt down to thank Mazu.
