Chapter 152 Sea Expedition

152

Sun Jinan pressed his tongue against his right molar, clearly showing his resentment at the situation, yet also his frustrated expression of having no choice but to comply.

They had all encountered this situation during their first sea patrol, and thinking about those frustrating past experiences, Sun Jinan found it difficult to calm down.

Zhang Dabing had been in the army longer than the other two and had patrolled the sea more times. He stepped forward and explained, "Company Commander, in China, we usually don't fire first unless the other side fires first."

Tang Yue...

Passively taking a beating?

"Why?"

Zhang Dabing...

"That's just how it's stipulated above."

“They can’t fire even if they push out of our border.”

Zhang Dabing gritted his teeth, "As long as the other side hasn't fired, we can't fire first."

Tang Yue doesn't need any cannons to fire; she's already famous on her own.

While they were talking, everyone was already able to see the three fishing boats opposite them.

Seeing the draft of the fishing boats, everyone was stunned; clearly, they were carrying a lot of cargo.

"Prepare to intercept." Tang Yue's voice carried a hint of command, and her eyes were filled with coldness.

Sun Jinan hesitated for a moment. He hadn't expected his company commander to order them to intercept the enemy. But they didn't know anything about the enemy's situation. Was it appropriate to intercept them without their consent? "Company Commander, shouldn't we notify the main warship?"

Tang Yue shook her head and calmly replied, "It's too late. We have to act immediately. If they get past us, it will be too late."

Sun Jinan nodded, feeling that Tang Yue's decision was correct. Gritting his teeth, he immediately went to the control room to issue Tang Yue's order, and their boat stopped directly in front of the three fishing boats, waiting for them to approach.

In the thin mist, the shadows of three fishing boats could be seen in and out of sight. They were moving very fast, and with such a draft, they were clearly carrying a lot of cargo.

Tang Yue was convinced that this was the ship carrying the treasures that Japan had stolen from China. Today, she couldn't let them leave, no matter what.

"Company commander, they must have spotted us too. But look, they don't seem to be stopping or turning back at all. They haven't even slowed down. They're obviously trying to go around us."

Tang Yue felt very passive because she couldn't fire the cannon. "What do you guys usually do?"

Sun Jinan: "Expel them."

"Oh, then you guys give it a try."

Sun Jinan made a gesture towards the control room, and a loudspeaker immediately sounded from there.

The thin mist on the sea, like a veil, drifted slowly with the morning breeze, concealing the tense scene that was about to unfold.

Sun Jinan's face was grave. He stood on the deck, his gaze fixed on the three fishing boats that were gradually approaching. He was filled with resentment, but he knew they had to abide by the rules.

"This is Chinese waters. You have approached the border. Please return to port immediately!" The voice from the loudspeaker echoed across the sea, carrying an unquestionable authority.

Tang Yue stood beside Sun Jinan, her brows furrowed, her eyes narrowed, her mental energy already covering the three fishing boats. She saw the people on those boats tense up and become wary, but they showed no sign of stopping.

"Company commander, they're not responding." Sun Jinan's voice carried a hint of anxiety.

A cold glint flashed in Tang Yue's eyes. "Continue to shout, and at the same time be prepared to intercept."

"This is Chinese waters. You are approaching the border. Please turn back immediately!" The horn sounded again, louder than ever, as if trying to penetrate the thin fog and reach the ears of everyone on the fishing boats.

However, the fishing boats opposite remained unresponsive, their speed undiminished, seemingly attempting to pass Tang Yue and her companions. The people on board busied themselves, adjusting their course to try and circumvent the obstacle.

"They are ignoring our warnings," Zhang Dabing said, his voice tinged with anger.

On the fishing boat leading the way, a Japanese man angrily questioned another Japanese man.

"Fujino-kun, wasn't this plan supposed to be foolproof? Why did a Chinese warship suddenly appear?"

Fujino also had doubts in his eyes at this moment. Their mission was highly confidential, and there was almost no possibility of it being leaked.

Furthermore, the mission route they relayed deviated somewhat from this location, and they've already engaged the Chinese navy there. This proves that although their information was leaked, they on this side should be unaffected.

But what's with that warship that's looming in front of them? But now's not the time to think about that. Now that they've run into it, they have to find a way to get around it.

"Mr. Oda, the Chinese navy won't fire first. As long as we quickly go around their ships, we'll soon be in Vietnamese territory, and the Chinese navy won't be able to do anything to us."

Oda slammed his fist on the railing in anger. He had boarded this dilapidated fishing boat because he had heard that the mission was guaranteed to succeed; they had stolen it the night before last, and it had no modern weapons or equipment whatsoever. The guns they had were completely useless at sea.

If the Chinese navy really opens fire, then they will all perish here.

"Fujino-kun, I hope what you said is true. Good luck."

Fujino was also nervous at this moment, but he couldn't show it. He could only order his men to continue speeding up the boat.

Tang Yue saw that the other side showed no sign of stopping, and their direction didn't seem to have changed at all. She laughed in exasperation. Were they so sure the Chinese navy wouldn't fire first?

“If they were ordinary Chinese citizens, they would already be standing on the deck sending signals to us. Clearly, there are no Chinese people on these ships.”
