Chapter 62 Settling Down in Three Thatched Houses

Before Tang Shengkai could react, Lin Cuicui had already started vomiting while holding onto the railing.

Tang Yue frowned slightly, then quickly stood on tiptoe and grasped Lin Cuicui's wrist. Strands of pure spiritual energy flowed into Lin Cuicui's body. Lin Cuicui's churning stomach instantly felt much better.

She felt a cool sensation all over her head.

Tang Bei somehow got hold of a bowl, and carried the water back with him.

Lin Cuicui took the bowl from her son and took a big gulp to rinse her mouth.

Tang Shengkai was helping Lin Cuicui pat her back. He saw her rinse her mouth twice and then gulp down all the water in the bowl.

Tang Shengkai then asked with concern, "How are you? Are you feeling any better?"

Lin Cuicui took two deep breaths before looking at Tang Shengkai with a pale face, "Third Brother, it's alright. I just suddenly got seasick."

Old Li and the children all breathed a sigh of relief. They were truly terrified.

Lin Cuicui handed the bowl to Tang Bei, "Da Bei, where did you get this bowl? Go and return it to the owner."

"Okay, Mom, don't worry about it, I'll take it back. Mom, would you like some more water?"

"No need, Mom feels much better."

Tang Bei was relieved to return the bowl. After resting for a while, Lin Cuicui's condition improved, and the family finally felt at ease. They treated this little incident as just seasickness and no one paid much attention to it.

An hour passed quickly, and they finally stood on the land of the South Island. Tang Shengkai, Lin Cuicui, and Old Li all breathed a sigh of relief.

Finally, they arrived. They no longer had to worry about being harassed by those spies.

"Cui Cui, let's go to the army now."

"OK."

After speaking, he looked at Tang Yue and asked, "Yueyue, if your father goes to the army, will he be able to get out?"

Tang Yue's eyes widened. Where was this place? How come she couldn't get out after going in? This was beyond her comprehension.

She thought it was like going to a sect to study, where she had free time and could come back whenever she wanted.

"I...I don't know."

Tang Shengkai patted Tang Yue's head. "It's alright, honey. We'll go ask her and we'll find out."

Following the address given by Zeng Chen, the family walked and stopped frequently, arriving at the gate of the military base around noon.

The gate was very large, and there were sentries guarding the entrance, making it look serious and solemn.

Tang Shengkai put his basket aside and went to the guard post. The sentry looked at Tang Shengkai and asked, "Hello, comrade, are you here to see someone? Do you have a letter of introduction?"

Yes, yes.

Tang Shengkai quickly took out the letter of introduction, and the sentry took it, opened it, and confirmed it. "Wait a moment, I'll call the regiment to verify it now."

"Okay, thank you for your help."

Old Li and Lin Cuicui waited with the children not far away. After Tang Shengkai finished communicating with the sentry, all that was left was to wait.

He returned to their side and asked, "Third Brother, how is it?"

"Wait a minute, I've already called to inform them."

About 20 minutes later, a military jeep drove out of the compound. It stopped at the gate, turned off the engine, and two people got out. Tang Shengkai smiled and quickly went to greet them.

"Comrade Chang, Comrade Wang. What brings you here?"

Wang Ming looked very serious today. "Comrade Tang Shengkai, this is my battalion commander, Comrade Chang Yin. Please call him Battalion Commander Chang. I am Wang Ming."

Upon hearing Wang Ming's resounding voice, Tang Shengkai quickly straightened his expression. "Yes, Battalion Commander Chang, Tang Shengkai is reporting for duty."

Chang Yin nodded solemnly, then looked at Tang Yue, his expression softening considerably.

"The military has received your enlistment application. However, since you have family with you, are you enlisting today, or will you wait until you have settled things with your family?"

Tang Shengkai was thrilled; he hadn't expected things to go so smoothly. Tang Yue, on the other hand, felt nothing; after all, it had been planned in advance, and there shouldn't have been any problems.

Although Tang Shengkai was agitated, he remained rational.

"Battalion Commander Chang, we just arrived from out of town. We're wondering how the military is handling my family?"

"You are a new recruit and do not meet the criteria for bringing family members with you. The army has a clear understanding of your family situation and has already arranged for your family to be placed in a production brigade nearby."

Tang Shengkai and Lin Cuicui exchanged a glance, both delighted. Tang Shengkai hurriedly asked, "Could the battalion commander find someone to take us there? We're really unfamiliar with this place."

Chang Yin waved his hand, "Get in the car. I'll take you there."

He glanced at Tang Yue as he finished speaking.

Tang Yue was a little confused. This Chang Yin seemed to be paying a lot of attention to her? They didn't seem to have much interaction, did they?

There was a large cargo bed in the back of the jeep. Several people worked together to move the baskets and packages into the cargo bed, and then climbed in.

Wang Ming shouted from the side, "Three more people can sit in the car."

Nobody paid him any attention; they were all preparing to run away.

Chang Yin picked up Tang Yue and placed her in the back seat of the car.

Seeing this, Wang Ming carried Tang Dong up, and then pulled Tang Bei and Tang Nan up as well.

Before setting off, Tang Shengkai asked, "Battalion Commander, which village are we going to? Is it far from here?"

"About fifty li."

"oh oh."

The car bumped along the uneven dirt road, making Tang Yue feel extremely uncomfortable. She'd rather have made her own flying artifact; this feeling was far too exhilarating.

Lin Cuicui was also a little uncomfortable, but she just frowned and didn't say anything.

Upon reaching the village entrance, a solitary stone tablet stood by the roadside. The three characters "Daobei Village" were prominently displayed on it.

Cars rarely come to the village, so when one does, the village children and elderly all turn to look. The children, out of curiosity, will even crowd closer.
