Chapter 84 A Clash of Titans

His mind struggled with the decision many times, but in the end, Tang Shengkai held his head high and continued training with the troops. There was struggle in his eyes, but he was a soldier. His squad leader, platoon leader, and company commander had all said that a country comes before a family.

Now that he is a soldier, he must obey orders at all times and never do anything that is detrimental to the army or to unity.

Moreover, Yueyue is very capable, and he felt that Yueyue should be fine. Tang Shengkai attributed the recent fluctuation of spiritual energy to the abundance of spiritual energy in the mountains.

Yes, it's not that Yueyue is looking for her father at all; it's just that the spiritual energy in the mountains is too abundant.

Taking a deep breath, Tang Shengkai continued running in the mountains. Those who knew him well would notice that he was running even harder and with even more effort.

Tang Yue noticed that her father wasn't making any further moves. Tang Yue was puzzled. What was going on? Her father clearly sensed the presence of spiritual energy, so why wasn't he coming towards them?

After waiting a while, seeing that Tang Shengkai didn't make any further moves, Tang Yue pouted, thinking that her father was really not smart at all.

A bird happened to be flying overhead. Tang Yue released her spiritual energy, and the bird instinctively flew towards her. Tang Yue smiled. It was like a message carried by a carrier pigeon from a storybook.

Tang Yue didn't have any paper on her, but didn't the spies have some?

Tang Yue grabbed the bird with one hand and ran back to the vicinity of the cave in less than two minutes.

This time, the tiger saw Tang Yue's small figure, and probably thought that such a small two-legged creature could not pose any threat at all, so it did not even pay attention to Tang Yue.

Tang Yue looked at the emaciated tiger. With such abundant wild game on the mountain, it was foolish of it to have let itself become like this. She raised her hand and sent a burst of spiritual energy to the tiger's crown. She saw surprise in the tiger's eyes, but now it couldn't move.

Half a day has passed, and the spy is still struggling with the screw. It seems that the message to be delivered today is very important.

After breaking free of the restraints and entering the cave, Tang Yue found herself in the tiger's habitat, a rather unpleasant environment. Holding her breath, she turned a corner and came to the spy's side. The spy immediately reached for his waist the moment he noticed her.

Tang Yue remained motionless, which was probably a reaction of a spy. However, he must have been playing an important role and had forgotten that he didn't have a gun on him.

"Who are you?"

Tang Yue didn't bother talking to him and swiftly stepped forward, knocking him unconscious with a chop to the neck. After the spy fell to the ground, Tang Yue checked on him again. Confirming there was no chance he would wake up, she used her spiritual power to retrieve a piece of paper from the shelf above.

Most of them had content on them. The white papers were laid out together. Tang Yue tore off a small strip and wrote on it with a pen.

"There's a Tiger Cave about 40 miles diagonally behind you. It's a spy outpost. There are spies inside reporting right now."

Tang Yue didn't care what kind of grueling training the entire training team would face after Chang Yin saw this message. She put the crumpled paper in the bird's beak, sent it a small ball of spiritual energy, and then released the bird.

Using spiritual power as a guide, the little bird quickly found the training group. Under Tang Yue's guidance, the little bird landed on Chang Yin's shoulder.

Chang Yin heard the flapping of wings, but there were many birds and beasts in the mountains, so he didn't pay attention. However, he was still surprised when he felt the little bird land on his shoulder.

When did birds start daring to perch on him? He turned his head and saw the folded piece of paper in the bird's beak. Chang Yin's eyes narrowed.

He quickly pinned the bird down, removed the note from its beak, and upon reading its contents, Chang Yin took a deep breath. Now was not the time for him to hesitate.

Chang Yin raised his hand and made a stop gesture. "Chen Zhiqiang from the first company and Lu Ye from the second company, quickly pick 15 men from your ranks and come with me. The rest of you will continue the training exercise led by Xu Xiaochuan, the third company commander."

Wang Ming ran over, "Battalion Commander, what's wrong? Is there a mission?"

Many people saw the scene where the battalion commander took the note from the bird's beak, but the army is strictly disciplined and they don't ask questions they shouldn't.

Chang Yin gave Wang Ming a cold look and said, "Hurry up and gather the good people to set off."

"yes!"

Wang Ming stood at attention, waiting for everyone else to arrive so they could set off together.

Tang Shengkai was getting anxious in the ranks. He had already stepped forward to wait for selection, but his overall performance these past few days had been too poor, and the company commander hadn't even glanced at him. Tang Shengkai wanted to try again, but his comrade pulled him back.

"Alright, there must be an urgent mission. You've just arrived, and going there now would only cause trouble. You should focus on improving your strength as soon as possible."

Tang Shengkai was helpless; he was indeed far inferior to others now, and there was nothing he could do no matter how worried he was.

Chang Yin was about to leave when the little bird in his hand twitched its claws. Chang Yin considered it evidence and didn't want to release it, but of course he wouldn't kill it either. However, the little bird seemed a bit anxious.

Chang Yin let go of the bird's hand. The bird didn't fly away. It flew a little higher and circled in the air for a couple of moments. Then it flew a distance in one direction, stopped, and looked back at Chang Yin.

Chang Yin clenched his fist inwardly. Had the little bird become a spirit? Or had someone tamed it?

Was the note genuine, or was there a grand conspiracy orchestrated by spies waiting for them?

He was willing to go and check it out, even if it was a trap, just because of what was written on the note.

The bird flew in the same direction as the note.

As the group moved forward at high speed, Wang Ming said, "Battalion Commander, is this little bird guiding us? It's amazing!"

Chang Yin turned and glanced at it. "If you want to be criticized, just say so. I'll take you there when we get back."

"Oh, no, Battalion Commander. No, I absolutely don't. My thinking is perfectly correct."

Although everyone found the matter strange, they dared not say anything in the given circumstances.
