Chapter Nineteen: The Legend of Zhen Huan - Fang Jiachunyi 19
When the Emperor and Empress returned to the palace, Consort Wan was still pregnant, so Consort Hua's position was secure.
The Empress originally intended to use this trip out of the palace to cause Consort Wan to miscarry and then make Consort Hua take the blame.
However, Fang Jiachunyi could not allow it. Once only one Consort was left, the Empress would have to consider how to target her.
Therefore, it would be better for Consort Hua to continue as a consort.
The Empress repeatedly targeted Consort Wan, and even with Imperial Physician Wen by her side, Consort Wan was unable to defend herself effectively.
If it weren't for Fang Jiachunyi, this pregnancy would have been lost long ago. Eight months premature, Consort Wan gave birth to the weak Seventh Prince Hongyang.
Born with a heart ailment, she was destined to be ineligible for the throne, which put the Empress at ease, and she stopped targeting Consort Wan and Hongyang.
Although the Emperor was disappointed by the child's poor health, he still honored his promise to Consort Wan during her pregnancy and promoted her to Imperial Concubine Wan.
Prior to this, because of her pregnancy, Consort Hui was disappointed with the Emperor and unwilling to accept his favor, leaving only Consort An among the three sisters.
Zhen Huan gave Consort An advice on how to win the emperor's favor on several occasions. Consort An was successfully promoted to Noble Lady and was given the title Xian, becoming Noble Lady Xian.
The old clothes incident did not disrupt Zhen Huan's investiture ceremony, after all, there were now Consort Hua and Consort Ru.
Even if the Empress didn't want Zhen Huan to be promoted to Consort so quickly, she couldn't very well suppress her.
After all, the current situation of two imperial concubines was not what she wanted to see, so she had no choice but to let Zhen Huan be promoted.
Let Zhen Huan and Consort Hua fight it out, and it would be best to drag Fang Jiachun into it as well. The more chaotic it is, the easier it will be for her to take action.
Yongshou Palace —
"Your Highness~~" Shuhe's voice broke the quiet atmosphere of Yongshou Palace.
"Shuhe, keep your voice down," Consort Xin scolded softly, afraid of disturbing Jing Shu and Hong Xu.
"It's alright, Hongxu and Jingshu just woke up, they're full of energy." Fang Jiachunyi slumped on the table without any regard for her image.
Taking care of children is really troublesome. Even though it's mostly the wet nurses who take care of them, she still feels exhausted.
She felt like she had aged several years even though it had only been a few months.
"Look at you, you have no energy at all. Did they wake up and bother you?"
Consort Xin watched as Shuhe ran to the side hall to find her younger siblings, and then looked at the dejected Fang Jiachunyi.
A smile involuntarily crept up his lips. Although the wet nurse usually took care of them, Hongxu and Jingshu cried incessantly every time they woke up.
She only calmed down after being carried to Fang Jiachunyi's side.
At first, she was envious, after all, Shuhe wasn't this clingy when she was little.
Later, there was only sympathy, not envy; the two babies' crying was absolutely deafening.
She searched for Fang Jiachun several times a day, and she could see with her own eyes that Fang Jiachun's round face was gradually becoming more pointed.
But it's good that she's become more refined; her former childishness has faded, and she has grown into an even more elegant and ethereal beauty, like a goddess or fairy, leaving everyone amazed.
"When have they ever woken up without making a fuss?"
Fang Jiachun sighed. Sure enough, human babies are the most difficult creatures to deal with in the world.
Even the emperor, who doted on them, couldn't stand their antics. He would come to see the children when he missed them, and run away when they made him cry.
Fang Jiachun really wanted to put up a sign on the gate of Yongshou Palace that read, "Dogs and the Emperor are not allowed to enter!"
It's one thing to have an emperor, but why are there dogs?
Because the Emperor brought his two beloved dogs to introduce them to his precious son and daughter.
Seeing that Hongxu and Jingshu really liked his fortune and blessings, they often brought them over.
And then...the two dolls learned to...woof?
Ahhhh! For a fleeting moment, she really, really wanted to eat dog meat!
