Chapter 15 The Eve Before Dawn
Draco could no longer remember how Harry had taken him away from the chaotic scene that day. He only remembered that when he regained consciousness, he was sitting in a peaceful and quiet cafe, holding a cup of very warm hot cocoa in his hands, the heat enough to burn through his palms into his heart.
He knew that person. He was a Slytherin who had just graduated the year before. Even though they were not familiar with each other, they were both members of the Magic League and had played and laughed together against Gryffindor. Now, they were separated by life and death, and it was unlikely that they would see each other again.
Draco's mind once again emerged the young man who fell down holding his chest, his gray and clear eyes, and the bloody chest being penetrated by force. His heart suddenly trembled.
The wet cheek rested on the shoulder where the coat was taken off, revealing the firm wheat-colored skin.
[Dad, why can't we use magic in front of Muggles?
[The young and innocent child grabbed the hem of his father's clothes, watching the figure not far away who skillfully erased the memory of the passers-by at the chaotic scene and walked away with the nameplate of the Ministry of Magic Memory Cancellation Office, and asked in confusion: Why do we have to hide from them?
Because wizards possess powers that Muggles cannot reach, this is necessary to prevent our powers from being exposed to Muggles.
Dad, the secrecy implemented by wizards is not because they have power and are self-admiring, but because they have no power and are controlled by others and have to hide.
Wizard supremacy and pure-blood glory are nothing but absurd pieces of paper used by ambitious people to gather alliances of interests and cover up the truth.
We were all deceived.
Draco's tears flowed down the corners of his eyes and hit Harry's hard chest. The residual water temperature ironed his cool skin.
"Was it the same when you first saw Cedric?" Draco's hoarse, choked voice came from under Harry's chest.
Harry's hand stroked the head on his chest. Through the round and smooth head, he seemed to feel the vibration coming from his chest, passing through Draco's skin, accompanied by a sour emotion. He replied softly, "I didn't have time to feel sad at that time. I was already filled with anger and hatred."
But I have neither anger nor hatred, only a vast expanse of confusion.
As a dazed Draco wandered through the busy city streets, he couldn't help but compare the Muggle world with the wizarding world.
Pedestrians hurrying along the sidewalk to their workplace are no different from wizards and witches in the magical world who use magic to travel, except that wizards use magic and Muggles use transportation machines.
Bicycles loaded with flowers or vegetables, students carrying backpacks and breakfast, mingle among the busy crowds, some in groups of three or five, some wandering alone, some with their heads bowed in conversation...
A mother holding her child's hand and patiently guiding him, a teenager spinning a basketball while dancing to share it with his friends, and an old man riding by with a bag full of food.
Can such a world full of vitality and hope really be built by such means?
Without the Statute of Secrecy, can wizards wear wizard robes as they please without any scruples?
Will it?
Those lines of text, along with the pictures of the wreckage caused by the war, kept flashing and penetrated Draco's mind without any explanation.
[Mucang, the earliest gunpowder mucang was born in the late Tang Dynasty in China, around the end of the 11th century to the beginning of the 12th century AD. This is the earliest record of the first use of gunpowder for military purposes.
Later, Italian and Spanish engineers improved the design of the firearm, making the shooting more stable and significantly improving battlefield efficiency.
The introduction of wooden cannons changed the traditional mode of hand-to-hand combat, and its popularization accelerated the transformation of the traditional military structure. Its great battlefield lethality made it quickly become a core component of military equipment.
The precision technology and standardized production processes required for wood storage machinery manufacturing have promoted the development of mechanical engineering and metallurgical science.
In addition, with the accelerated development of industrial production, Britain's desire for external expansion grew stronger and stronger. The wooden cannon gave rise to new military units and combat concepts. The convenient wooden cannon replaced the heavy traditional cold weapons, allowing Britain's empire to develop rapidly.
His fingertips gripping the spine of the book gradually tightened, his heartbeat became more and more rapid, and even breathing became difficult for a moment.
This is just the most basic Muggle war weapon unit. If the wizarding world is really exposed to the Muggle world like the mysterious person planned, then the wizarding world...
Draco's pupils contracted suddenly, his pale face lost all color again, and beads of sweat appeared on his forehead again.
There are many subtle differences in lifestyles and beliefs, but there are also many similarities between wizards and Muggles.
If the power that separates the two is not a powerful one, then why does the wizarding world keep such a distance from the Muggle world, even guarding against it like a tiger?
This subtle avoidance made Draco, who had just come out of the Royal Armouries Museum and was still hesitant, even more curious.
He thought that perhaps he should take a closer look at this strange world and see how it was different from the wizarding world.
Also, he really wanted to try the possibility of integrating Muggle weapon making theory with magical alchemical items.
Draco figured everything out, took out a handkerchief to wipe the sweat from his forehead, and turned happily to look at Harry beside him.
"Harry, where can I buy a house in the Muggle world? I want one that's bustling and prosperous."
Gray Mist's eyes once again rose like bright sun disks, and coupled with his rosy and shining face, it was as if he had just taken a dozen stimulants and glory drugs.
"Huh?" Harry, who was racking his brains to think of words to comfort him, began to wonder if he had been cast under the Imperius Curse by a passing Death Eater.
"Are you... serious?" Harry swallowed hard and raised his wand, ready to quietly cast a checking spell on Draco.
The young master who has always believed in pure blood and the supremacy of wizards wants to buy a house in the Muggle world?
Just wait to collect rent?
The Malfoys are indeed the most profitable family in the wizarding world. Even when they come to relax, they have to add to their already rich treasury.
Draco raised his eyebrows and said, "Of course it's true. Not only am I going to buy a house in London, but I'm also going to be a Muggle during the holidays."
"No? You?...A Muggle?" Harry looked at Draco who was in an extremely excited state with an expression as if he had taken the wrong medicine.
"Oh, there's no need to hesitate. Let's go find a house."
Draco grabbed Harry's hand and ran forward without saying a word.
Harry was so shaky that he ran away, and asked, "Don't you dislike Muggles?"
Draco replied without even turning his head, "I didn't like them before, but now I think they're quite interesting. For example, their ideas on the application of alchemy are very interesting. So I also want to know what the world is like from the perspective of these 'ordinary people'..."
"Uh..." Harry was choked by Draco's words and couldn't speak. He didn't know what words to use to express the shock in his heart. He could only let Draco drag his arm and run wildly.
