Chapter 2: Eve Before Dawn 2

Chapter 2: Eve Before Dawn 2

Harry's fingers tapped and groped delicately on the wall, his eyes searching every corner for possible clues.

Compared to Harry's serious and cautious search for clues, Draco Malfoy, who had just escaped death, seemed more relaxed.

Even though he was trapped in a wooden box at the beginning and nearly suffocated to death, it did not prevent him from being neatly dressed at the moment, stroking his messy hair leisurely, and naturally preparing to sit back and enjoy the consequences.

"Well, Malfoy, have you rested enough?" Harry turned around and looked at Draco. He could no longer tolerate this young master who was slacking off openly and pushed all the work onto him.

"Please show some attitude! You act like this is all my business. Don't bring your spoiled brat temper here, okay?" Harry frowned. "Of course, if you want to stay here forever."

"Anyway, if I find the clue first, I will never share it with someone who has made no contribution," Harry said and turned away.

Draco grabbed the gem on his sleeve and clenched his fists, but thinking that he still needed to rely on him to find clues, he didn't get angry.

Draco curled his lips, but still stood up and took a step forward.

Although he did want to take advantage of the savior's heroic complex and reap the benefits, he could not guarantee that the savior's holy light would overflow and be freely wielded towards him, a Death Eater.

After he made his meaning clear, Draco had to say that he didn't want to be locked up here forever.

Draco stumbled and felt like he had stepped on something. He looked down and felt a chill run down his spine and into his heart.

The shabby doll at his feet was dressed in an old gentleman's outfit, a tall black hat, and an exaggerated smile painted on its face. But what made Draco feel the most terrified were its eyes, which looked almost human and reflected his terrified expression.

[What…what is that!]

Draco couldn't help but gasp, his body stiffened and his mind went blank.

"Potter! Potter--!" Draco kicked him away nervously and called out to Harry in panic, his voice becoming sharp and piercing because of the tension.

Harry turned around and saw Draco looking like he was about to faint from fright, so he quickly ran over to him and asked what was going on.

"Go, go!" Draco grabbed Harry and pulled his clothes desperately, his face pale.

"Hey, wait a minute..." Harry struggled. He didn't see clearly what frightened Draco so much that he was dragged and stumbled by the panicked Draco.

"Malfoy, look carefully, it's just a doll, don't be startled." Harry observed the place where Draco was panicking and finally found the shabby and weird doll. "Are you scared by it?"

"That doll, that doll—!" Draco pointed at the doll tremblingly, his chest heaving violently from excessive excitement. "Its eyes are real! Potter—"

"Huh?" Harry was stunned. After hearing what Draco said, Harry looked at the doll seriously.

He looked at it carefully and easily saw that it was a genuine lifelike doll. Only then did he realize that the eyes Draco mentioned were just realistic-looking BID imitation human eyeballs.

"Don't be surprised, it's just a fake eye that Muggles use to decorate dolls." Harry pushed Draco, who was about to suffocate him, and said, "It can't eat people."

"I don't care, I'm scared anyway." Draco shook his head. He no longer cared about Harry's ridicule. He even wanted to rush out and escape from here immediately.

Harry had no choice but to take one step at a time, and the exploration process was delayed indefinitely.

"I've searched everywhere, but found nothing. Except for the tattered wooden bed, the wooden box that contained you, and a few tattered dolls." Harry put his hands on his hips and looked up, sighing.

[Doll…]

[If this is a game, there must be clues. A shabby wooden bed, a wooden box as tall as a person, and these dolls and...] Draco followed the doll's perspective and saw the huge snake head on top. His eyes lit up.

"Potter, have you explored the snake head?" Draco said excitedly, pushing Harry excitedly.

"Do you suspect the exit is up there?" Harry followed Draco's gaze and also noticed the huge snake head.

"Yes! That must be it, Potter!" Draco urged Harry impatiently, "Hurry up, hurry up! Let's go up!"

Harry was silent for two seconds, then squatted down, lifted Draco's legs, and climbed towards the snake's head with all his strength.

With Harry's help, Draco struggled to grab the snake's mouth.

Harry struggled to hold Draco steady, breathing heavily, "How is it? Is this the exit?"

"Ah, it's the exit. I can see the scenery outside." Draco lowered his head and took a look. Beads of sweat appeared on his forehead. Harry, who was still gritting his teeth and persevering, had a gloomy expression.

Then he moved a short distance with great effort, put all the strength of his upper body on the snake's head, and with all his strength, he suddenly jumped through the snake's neck and fell awkwardly into the grass on the other side.

Harry rolled over and fell due to inertia, with a bruised face.

Draco reached out and touched his bruised and bleeding knee. He struggled to prop up his upper body and slowly got up from the ground.

Looking at Harry, whose face was covered in dust and had a bruised nose and swollen face, Draco touched his clean right elbow and gritted his teeth.

[Just like last time]

"Wei, Poter, hold on." Draco ran at full speed and threw the rope inside.

Harry reacted quickly, leaping forward and grabbing the rope firmly. Draco pulled the rope with all his strength, tying knots around the tree trunk one by one.

"Bang!" Harry rolled over and landed steadily on Draco.

"Get off, bastard, it hurts so much." Draco lifted up Harry who was on top of him and glared at him angrily.

"Malfoy" Harry frowned, he raised his hand and wiped away the dust stains on Draco's cheek.

[Why didn't you run? With your philosophy of self-preservation and absolute self-reliance, shouldn't you have taken the opportunity to run away?] Harry stared into Draco's eyes. He seemed to want to see into his heart through those blue eyes, to dig out and see through all the secrets hidden deep in his heart.

"No reason, I'm happy to do it." Draco avoided Harry's gaze and lowered his head. "And you forgot, if you want to leave the dream, you still have to..."

Draco pursed his lips, his cheeks flushing slightly.

Harry was stunned. He had indeed forgotten about this matter just now.

He rolled his neck and tentatively took Draco's hand.

Draco turned away and didn't punch or kick him like last time.

Harry felt a little relieved, so he became more unscrupulous. He took Draco's hand, interlocked their fingers and pressed them on the grass, then slowly moved his body to press against Draco.
