Chapter 4: Eve Before Dawn 4
After finishing his secret meeting with Cuthbert Greengrass, Draco felt as heavy and gloomy as a winter cloud.
Hogsmeade, a place once filled with laughter and joy, is now filled with an ominous silence.
Draco walked hurriedly, holding a heavy load of gold coins in his hand, which at this moment became a huge mountain weighing on his heart.
On the way back, the sky gradually darkened, but Draco's vigilance did not relax at all.
He knew that in these turbulent times, crises could lurk around every corner.
No matter how tired he was, Draco had to remain absolutely alert.
"Bang--"
The sudden sound of branches being stepped on made Draco tense up. He quickly took out his wand and turned around, only to see several exiled wizards slowly walking out from the darkness.
"Tsk, I told you to be careful, don't scare our little golden pig." A low sound of footsteps broke the silence around them. One of the young men said in a teasing tone, his eyes scanning Draco unscrupulously.
"Hmph, so what if we really hurt him? Do you think you can escape?" Another old wizard also sneered, with a strong murderous intent in his eyes.
After seeing the old man's appearance clearly, Draco's face changed suddenly.
It was the old wizard who had tried to scam him at the Three Broomsticks, but this one was specifically targeting him.
"Malfoy," one of the exiled wizards spoke, his voice hoarse and full of menace, "the gold Galleons you just took out from Gringotts in your hand can't buy the life of your father Lucius, but they can buy your life. This is not easy in today's world. We just thought that perhaps you could share some so that we can live a good life too."
Their eyes were fixed greedily on the suitcase Draco was carrying, which contained the gold coins that made these people salivate.
A barely perceptible panic flashed across Draco's face, but he quickly adjusted his expression, arrogantly smashed the suitcase in his hand on the other person's head, and sternly said, "Get out!"
"Bang!" With the dull sound of metal hitting his head, the exiled wizard fell to the ground with a scream, blood streaming down his forehead.
Without any hesitation, Draco threw the box out and quickly Apparated away from the scene.
However, the exiled wizards obviously did not intend to give up. They kept approaching and chasing Draco relentlessly.
In a hurry, he Apparated Draco and instantly traveled back to Flip Lane in London, instead of the Hogsmeade village he expected. The situation was more unfavorable than he had expected.
Not far from the corner where he was hiding, a group of wizards in black robes and masks were gathering, holding magical items that were shining with a dark light, and were obviously conducting some illegal transaction.
Behind him were the robbers following him.
Draco curled up in the corner cautiously, not daring to make any sound.
Just as he was trying to leave quietly, a dark wizard suddenly discovered his presence.
Draco turned around and tried to run, but the exiled wizard he had hit on the head blocked his way.
Draco watched helplessly as the group of dark wizards and the group of exiled wizards surrounded him one after another, the wands in their hands shining with green light. He closed his eyes in despair.
He couldn't even escape.
"Malfoy, are you spying on our transaction?" A dark wizard's sinister voice seemed to come from the depths of hell, revealing a strong sense of malice.
Draco's body trembled slightly. The dark wizards not only discovered him, but also ruthlessly disarmed the wand in his hand.
Faced with this group of adult wizards full of murderous intentions, the young master, who had been pampered since childhood, felt unprecedented fear.
"I, I was just passing by, I meant no harm." Draco tried to explain, but his voice trembled with fear.
The dark wizards sneered. A leading black-robed wizard raised Draco's wand, a cruel glint in his eyes. "Just passing by? That's not what you should say, Malfoy. Now, you will pay for your peeping."
"If I had known earlier, I wouldn't have taken advantage of that moment," Draco said, holding his bleeding palm with deep regret.
He knew this was a more serious danger than any he had faced before: trapped among dark wizards, wandless, with no desire for money and only wanting to silence him.
[I’m really going to die this time…] Draco raised his head helplessly and leaned against the wall to support his exhausted body.
Just as he was desperately waiting for death to come, a silver-white light suddenly lit up, stinging his eyes and hurting them.
A rough, warm hand grabbed his wrist, and the familiar dizziness and pulling sensation made him gladly give up struggling.
Everything becomes beautiful again.
"Why?" Draco raised his hands helplessly, passively accepting the pain of Harry Potter biting his neck, not knowing whether to push him away or hug him.
"Why did you take that heart-wrenching blow for him? Shouldn't he hate him? Why did you save him?"
"I don't know," Harry's voice came intermittently, with a hint of stubbornness.
Draco held the trembling Harry in his arms in a daze, not knowing how to react. Harry's stubborn face appeared in his mind.
"Is that so?" It turned out that he didn't hate Harry as much as he thought, even now.
"What an idiot you are, Harry Potter the Saint." Draco sighed helplessly and gently stroked his tense and wet back.
"Thank you," he said softly, "I owe you my life, Harry Potter."
"Hmph," Harry's breathing was heavy and rapid, and he bit Draco's neck hard, "No need. I didn't mean to take that blow for you. It was my own bad luck."
"Okay," Draco smiled bitterly. No matter what the reason was, Harry helped him after all, and he remembered this favor.
He pulled Harry into his arms, patting his cold, shivering body.
Harry took a long time to catch his breath before regaining his composure.
He struggled to stand, shook off Draco's support, and walked forward.
Draco stood at the entrance to the Slytherin dungeons and looked back at Harry who was standing on the stairs.
The dim candlelight divided the two people's feet into two sides. Behind Harry was a flickering candle, making his back look taller and straighter. Draco stood on the dark side where the candlelight could not reach, and his face was blurred.
"Goodbye, Poter." Draco waved and turned to walk into the deeper darkness.
"Goodbye, Draco," Harry said softly.
However, his voice was quickly carried away by the wind into the air and did not penetrate deeper into the wall.
