Meanwhile, on the other side of the world, in London.
Compared to the neon-lit city where it's already late at night and even magical girls are flying in the sky, it's only early evening here, right in the middle of rush hour, with cars and people bustling about on the streets.
The setting sun, like a salted egg yolk, hung lazily on the horizon.
The Thames was dyed a golden-red color, creating a striking contrast with the uniquely shaped MI6 headquarters building on the opposite bank, which resembles several stacked blocks, evoking the atmosphere of a British spy movie.
The organization has recently encountered a troubling issue.
They meticulously planned a scheme to have someone disguise themselves as a target and infiltrate MI6 undetected, in order to investigate the list of "rats" that MI6 had planted within the distillery.
Moreover, they had a perfect candidate for disguise, whose identity was suitable and whose opportunity was rare.
The plan was simple: all that was needed was to "deal with" the target's wife, who was likely to see through the disguise due to their familiarity as a couple. This would allow them to perfectly infiltrate MI6 using the wife's identity, making it a flawless operation... at least on paper.
However, ideals are often grand, while reality is often harsh.
Unfortunately, a problem arose at the very last moment.
After a "friendly" investigation, the organization was horrified to discover that the disguised person's wife had serious problems with her background...
It's not that she herself is particularly powerful or skilled in combat, but rather that the network of relationships she's involved with includes a powerful figure whom they absolutely cannot afford to offend, someone whose very name makes their teeth ache.
Although reliable intelligence suggests that neither the powerful figure nor the wife of the person in disguise were aware of this distant, seemingly unrelated relationship, but...
The organization dares not gamble!
If the bet goes wrong, the intelligence is incorrect, or something goes wrong in any环节 (link/step), then things will get really messed up.
That big shot won't reason with you or present evidence.
If he praises your headquarters, he will definitely praise your headquarters, leaving you not even a brick, and incidentally, he can turn the money you have in the Swiss bank into his pocket money.
Because of this critical situation, the plan, which had already involved a lot of resources, had to be abandoned with great reluctance, since life and headquarters were more important.
As a result, a certain "general" of the organization, who had been spending his days loafing around the organization's base, watching the show, and occasionally commenting on Gin's incompetence, inadvertently noticed this shelved plan.
Then... this plan was accepted with a smile by this "general" who loved to watch the drama unfold, who called it "sharing the burden of the organization."
then……
London.
Vauxhall Bridge.
The setting sun cast long shadows on the bridge and on the pedestrians.
A tall, slender blonde woman wearing a retro wide-brimmed hat, whose outstanding figure could not be concealed even in a trench coat, was leaning against the bridge railing, holding a cup of coffee that had long since gone cold and was now just the bottom of the cup.
The brim of her hat cleverly covered most of her face, revealing only a unique, spiral-shaped curl that seemed to have its own stylist, and her beautifully shaped jawline.
Her lake-blue eyes gazed at the Thames River flowing slowly beneath the bridge, seemingly calm and leisurely, as if admiring the sunset. In reality, every muscle in her body was in a subtle, alert state, ready to erupt at any moment, like a mother leopard poised to pounce.
She was waiting for someone.
Waiting for a man who disappeared for more than ten years and has now suddenly reappeared.
After an unknown amount of time, as if time had been precisely calculated, a man wearing a hat, tall and with a steady gait, walked slowly from the other side of the bridge and finally stopped beside her, maintaining a just-right distance.
You're late.
The blonde beauty, Mary Akai, spoke without turning her head, her voice cold and unreadable, like the London weather.
The man, or rather, the man disguised as "Tsutomu Akai," smiled and said in a deliberately imitative tone, tinged with apology and weariness, "Sorry, Mary, there was a bit of traffic on the way, so I'm late. It's been so long, I couldn't remember where our old place was, so I took a detour around the area."
The reason sounds reasonable.
Upon hearing this, Mary Akai's heart sank slightly.
A barely perceptible, chilling smile curved her lips as she continued in a calm tone, like a wife concerned about her husband's work: "Have you found the real culprit who killed Haneda Koji?"
This is a case that only the real Tsutomu Akai would know about and care about.
"Tsutomu Akai" sighed, his tone becoming heavy and helpless: "So far, all we've found is that the mastermind behind Koji's murder is a very large transnational criminal organization with deep-rooted and complex influence. They've got my eye on me, and now I can only run for my life. I don't dare to contact you easily, for fear of bringing danger to you."
The answer was flawless.
It even carries a touch of tragic heroism.
"Why haven't you contacted me for over 10 years?"
Mary Akai pressed on, saying this was the most crucial question.
Akai Tsutomu's face showed just the right amount of pain and confusion: "When I was being hunted down before, I suffered a severe head injury and lost my memory. I forgot many important things, including you and the children... It's thanks to this reunion with you that I remembered some things and was able to return to MI6..."
He skillfully changed the subject, asking instead, "What about the sons? Are they alright?"
Mary lowered her head slightly, the shadow of her hat brim better concealing the fleeting fierceness in her eyes.
"No, I came with my daughter."
"daughter?"
Akai Tsutomu looked surprised.
How come she didn't know she had a daughter? It wasn't written in the script!
Has Akai Tsutomu become a father unexpectedly?
