Chapter 1016 Are you sure you don't have any other daughters outside?

The hotel room.

The oblivious Sera Masumi had already quickly accepted the fact that her mother had shrunk, and even had the leisure to sit cross-legged on the bed, idly switching TV channels with the remote control.

The bathroom door clicked open.

After washing up, Akai Mary, still steaming, was wrapped in a white bathrobe that was too big for her current loli-like figure, like she had stolen an adult's bathrobe. The neckline was loose, revealing a small patch of her delicate collarbone.

She walked out of the bathroom, laboriously drying her wet, short blonde hair with her small hands—now that it was ear-length, it was much easier to manage.

After shrinking, her original aloof and sharp temperament as a top agent was inexplicably mixed with a cute and fierce contrast.

Like a kitten pretending to be fierce, it has no deterrent effect whatsoever.

"Mom, what should we do next?"

Sera Masumi put down the remote control, rubbed her perpetually messy short hair that looked like she had just woken up, and asked with a hint of excitement, like "Where are we going on our next adventure?", "Should I take you to the hospital for a checkup? To see if anything seems wrong?"

Mary Akai casually tossed the towel she was using to dry her hair onto the back of a chair, savoring the convenience of her short hair—one of the few advantages of shrinking. With less hair, it dried faster, and she didn't have to spend as much time and effort on styling it as before.

"No need to go to the hospital."

She resolutely rejected the idea, her voice youthful yet carrying an undeniable calmness: "If they had anticipated that this drug might cause body shrinkage, then London's major hospitals, especially private clinics connected to MI6, would have already laid a trap, just waiting for us to walk right into it."

She didn't want to have just escaped from Vermouth only to willingly walk into the clutches of another tiger.

Sera Masumi blinked and suggested another idea: "Well... we should at least get her body checked out and figure out why it turned out like this, right? We need to find a way to get it back to normal. How about... we go ask MI6 for help? They have the best doctors and researchers there."

Upon hearing this, Mary Akai's expression changed instantly, a sharp glint flashing in her azure eyes, and she immediately refused: "Absolutely not!"

Although MI6 was her former employer who trained her and for whom she had served for many years, she understood better than anyone the true nature of these national intelligence agencies—nothing was off-limits for the sake of interests and the demands of the nation (or certain high-ranking officials), including her, a former ace.

There isn't a single intelligence agency in the world that is clean, from the CIA to the KGB, from MI6 to the organization she just fought against.

The only difference lies in the degree and manner of getting dirty.

If the MI6 leadership found out that she had become a living specimen capable of "rejuvenation" and reversing time, the consequences would be unimaginable.

She would be immediately taken into custody and made into the most valuable research material.

Let alone seeking help, it's questionable whether she can even protect her basic human rights and freedom. Slicing, endless blood draws, and all sorts of extreme tests are considered "mild" and "in accordance with research ethics."

It's hard to understand why that black-clad organization could persist despite being infiltrated by agents from various countries and even operating in places like public restrooms, with some countries even secretly providing them with assistance.

Isn't it because the drugs they researched touched upon humanity's most fundamental and insane desires—immortality, or rather, reversing time?

This temptation is enough to make any country or power take the risk.

My daughter is still too young and has been too well protected. She doesn't know the true nature of people and the wickedness of the world.

They have too high an opinion of the capitalist state apparatus.

Moreover, after being ambushed by Vermouth at the gate of MI6 headquarters today and nearly killed without any rescue, Mary Akai's trust in MI6 has plummeted, and she has even developed deep doubts about it.

When their top agent was attacked by an unknown force at their doorstep, the headquarters didn't react at all?

Is the surveillance camera blind?

Did the patrol officers go out for afternoon tea?

This is absolutely outrageous! It's outrageously ridiculous!

She couldn't help but suspect that there might be something wrong internally, or that someone at a higher level was tacitly approving or even cooperating with this operation.

Seeing her mother's resolute attitude, Sera Masumi scratched her head in exasperation: "But, if we can't recover our bodies, how are we going to fight that organization? You're like this..."

She looked her mother up and down, her meaning clear—her fighting ability was probably greatly reduced.

Mary Akai, on the other hand, seemed very confident, or rather, her strong inner strength wouldn't allow her to show weakness.

She straightened her chest, which, even though it had shrunk, was still "richer" than her daughter's, and said in a calm tone, with the composure unique to secret agents: "Shrinking in size is not the problem; the important thing is that our experience and intellect remain. We cannot let them gain the upper hand; we must take the initiative."

For some reason, after saying that, she inexplicably wanted to add, "Although her body has shrunk, her mind is just as sharp and capable of anything..." Fortunately, she stopped herself in time, only her lips twitched slightly.

Sera Masumi didn't miss the chance to make a sarcastic remark. Pointing at her shrunken mother, she said mercilessly, "Seize the initiative? Didn't you still get forced to take this weird drug first?"

Akai Marie: "..." (╬◣д◢)

His azure eyes narrowed instantly, radiating a dangerous aura.

This daughter is definitely not worth keeping!

Sera Masumi, oblivious to her mother's "dangerous" gaze, stroked her chin and analyzed, "So, the most urgent thing is to figure out what this drug that can shrink people is, who developed it, and whether there is an antidote. Only in this way can we solve the problem at its root."
