Chapter 177 Hattori Heizo's Exchange of Interests

Heiji Hattori completely forgot about the fact that he had angered Kazuha earlier.

He felt good about the problem and even naively thought that he could solve everything by apologizing to Kazuha the next day.

After all, in Hattori Heiji's view, this was just a small matter and not worth making a fuss about.

When the two finally arrived at the office of the township councilor, they were surprised to find that the area was surrounded by police.

The village councilor had already died in the warehouse behind the village.

Forgotten and abandoned by everyone, Kogoro Mouri is diligently investigating the scene with a resentful expression.

"Damn it, I'm still too late!"

Conan looked at the horrific scene before him and said with a heavy heart.

"It's all that Yuzuru's fault. If he hadn't killed Numabuchi and cut off the trail, we definitely would have made it in time."

Enraged, Hattori Heiji punched the wall next to him hard, then trembled as he put his hands behind his back.

"There's no use talking about this now, let's catch the murderer first!"

Conan sighed inwardly, having gradually gotten used to Yuzuru's occasional antics.

You can't afford to offend them, and you can't beat them in a fight!

He was desperate too!

Heiji Hattori led Conan to Yusuke Sakata, who was investigating the scene with Kogoro Mouri.

He questioned in a low voice, "Officer Sakata, is it you who killed Councilor Goji?"

When Yusuke Sakata saw Heiji Hattori walking towards him, he was about to greet him warmly, but when he heard those words, his heart tightened instantly.

His face showed a look of panic, and he frantically waved his hands, explaining, "Heiji, please don't talk nonsense, okay? I'm a policeman!"

Kogoro Mouri, who was standing nearby, was also startled and quickly chimed in, "Yeah, you little detective brat, don't joke around like that!"

After all, he had just been in the same room with Officer Sakata. If the other party really was a murderer, wouldn't that mean he had just walked through the gates of hell?

Thinking about this, Kogoro Mouri couldn't help but feel a chill of fear.

"Since I dare to say this, I naturally have evidence!"

Hattori Heiji confidently crossed his arms, leaned forward slightly, and prepared to begin his deduction.

At this point, Yusuke Sakata also began to sweat profusely.

Because he was very familiar with Hattori Heiji, he knew very well that the other party would not make baseless accusations.

"First of all, Officer Sakata, aren't you the perpetrator of the recent serial murders in Osaka?"

Heiji Hattori slowly lowered the brim of his baseball cap, his sharp eyes fixed on Yusuke Sakata, and asked seriously.

Yusuke Sakata pursed his lips and remained silent.

"You must be..."

Just as Hattori Heiji was about to press the matter further, he was suddenly interrupted by an angry shout from behind.

"Who said Officer Sakata is a murderer?"

A voice suddenly rang out, and everyone turned to look.

A middle-aged man with a refined appearance and wearing gold-rimmed glasses strode over, carrying a briefcase, and shouted loudly.

Upon reaching them, the middle-aged man looked at the stunned group, first smiling at the somewhat bewildered Sakata Yusuke, then turning his head and coldly saying, "Who said that? I said who said that?"

Kogoro Mouri frowned as he looked at the imposing middle-aged man and silently took a few steps back.

Hattori Heiji snapped out of his daze and asked irritably, "Who are you?"

"Heh!" The middle-aged man chuckled. "I am Katsuhisa Mita, and I am the secretary to Representative Matsui!"

"Member Matsui!"

Kogoro Mouri, who was watching from the sidelines, exclaimed in surprise.

He then immediately walked out of the warehouse; this was a scene that a small detective like him shouldn't get involved in.

Don't let the blood splatter on him; he still has a daughter to take care of!

"So what exactly are you here for?" Hattori Heiji asked impatiently, still not quite understanding.

Upon hearing this, Mita Katsuhisa showed a slight displeasure, but quickly regained his composure.

He didn't answer Hattori Heiji's question directly, but instead looked at Sakata Yusuke.

"Associate Matsui greatly admires outstanding police officers like Officer Sakata, so he specially sent me to pick you up to meet him."

Sakata Yusuke, who was standing behind, was completely dumbfounded when he heard this.

He wondered to himself, "When did I meet Representative Matsui? What's going on here?"

"Absolutely impossible!" Hattori Heiji immediately and loudly refused. "Inspector Sakata is the perpetrator of the recent serial murders. He's not going anywhere!"

"Where's the evidence?" Mita Katsuhisa asked calmly.

“The evidence is right here…” Hattori Heiji turned his gaze to Sakata Yusuke, preparing to use his logical reasoning to make the other party confess his crimes.

However, Katsuhisa Mita wasn't about to let Heiji Hattori off the hook. He immediately interrupted, saying in a serious tone, "What I need is solid evidence, not your baseless speculations!"

As he spoke, Mita Katsuhisa gave Sakata Yusuke a reassuring look, indicating that he didn't need to panic.

"If you let me confront Officer Sakata face to face, the evidence will naturally come to light!" Hattori Heiji insisted on his point of view, trying to find evidence in this way.

“No need. This is Inspector Hattori’s signed document.” Katsuhisa Mita took out a document from his briefcase and said with a serious expression, “The murderer in this Osaka serial murder case is the fugitive Ichiro Numabuchi!”

After saying that, Mita Katsuhisa handed the document to Hattori Heiji, whose face was full of disbelief.

This was an exchange of interests between Representative Matsui and Heizo Hattori.

Representative Matsui promised not to pursue the issue of Hattori Heiji's abuse of power.

Similarly, Heizo Hattori, in his capacity as police superintendent, needs to find a suitable culprit for the Osaka serial murders.

Numabuchi Ichiro is undoubtedly an excellent candidate.

After all, the dead can't speak, so all the blame can be placed on him.

Meanwhile, Yuzuru, who had arranged all of this, was now intimately embracing Ran with his left arm and gently holding Ai with his right, enjoying a blissful sleep together under the covers.

Yuzuru Hanyu actually greatly admired Yusuke Sakata.

Despite being the only police officer in Osaka permitted to carry a gun, he resolutely abandoned his promising future and chose to become a murderer in order to avenge his father.

This is worlds apart from those two great detectives who, in order not to delay solving the case, were even unwilling to see their childhood sweetheart one last time.

Since that's the case, Yuzuru doesn't mind helping him out; it's just a small favor for him anyway.
