Chapter 283 Aoko's Mother

Unexpectedly, he stumbled in front of a little girl this time.

"And that Yuzuru-nii..." Kaito slowed his pace, his face full of surprise and uncertainty, "Could it be that Yuzuru Nan from last time!"

The mere thought of the name Yuzuru Hanyu brought back vivid memories of that magicians' gathering, like scenes from a movie.

He still vividly remembered the scene of being severely punished by the other party.

The embarrassment and awkwardness he felt at that time still makes him feel ashamed when he thinks about it.

Therefore, I had to trouble my mother to fly back and help me clean up the mess.

That was truly an experience I'd rather not recall.

"It can't be that much of a coincidence, can it?"

Kaito looked at the front door of his house and shook his head. He had been quiet for many days and hadn't taken any action. He shouldn't be so unlucky as to run into that troublesome guy.

Kaito took out his key, opened the door, and as he entered the house, he inadvertently turned his head and noticed that the lights were still on in the house next door.

"Looks like Inspector Nakamori hasn't gotten home yet!" A smug smile appeared on his face as he secretly chuckled to himself.

Just as Kaito hummed a little tune and gloated as he entered the house, a woman carrying a coffee and wearing glasses slowly walked out from the balcony on the second floor next door.

Watching his retreating figure, she took a small sip, a slight smile playing on her lips, as if deep in thought.

"Mom, what are you doing?" Nakamori Aoko rubbed her sleepy eyes and looked at her mother on the balcony. She was wearing loose pajamas and yawning as she walked over.

Nakamori Aoko looked away, gently swirled the coffee in her hand, and said with a smile, "It's nothing, I was just checking if your father is back yet."

Upon hearing this, Nakamori Aoko's drowsiness vanished instantly. She punched the air beside her and gritted her teeth, saying, "It's all that wretched Phantom Thief Kid's fault! Dad's probably holding another debriefing meeting right now!"

"Don't let me catch him! Otherwise, he'll be in big trouble!"

"I'm so angry," Nakamori Aoko said, her cheeks puffed out.

Even as a daughter, she knew perfectly well that her father had definitely failed to catch Phantom Thief Kid again tonight.

This situation has become commonplace.

Every time Dad sets off with great determination, he always returns empty-handed.

"Alright, alright, don't be angry anymore, go back to sleep." Nakamori Aoko reached out and patted her head.

Nakamori Aoko snorted, "I can't sleep at all. The thought of Kaito Kid still being at large, showing off his tricks everywhere, makes me angry."

"Is that so?" Nakamori Aoko smiled inexplicably as she looked at her daughter's angry expression.

The mother and daughter exchanged a few more words before Nakamori Aoko reluctantly went back to her room.

Nakamori Aoko glanced in the direction of Kaito's group, her eyes showing a hint of indifference.

As a future Attorney General, her job is quite demanding.

...

On the other side, Kaito, who had just entered the house, saw Terai Kinosuke coming to greet him.

"Young Master, you're finally back! Did the operation go smoothly?" Terai Kinosuke asked with concern.

"Don't worry, Grandpa Terai! How could those police possibly catch me?"

Kaito smiled confidently and casually flicked his hair.

This kind of exciting and challenging life suits him best. Being confined to the house these days and unable to go anywhere is driving him crazy.

"That's good!"

Terai Kinosuke understands Kaito's thoughts; Toichi was the same way when he was young.

"By the way, where's Mom? Isn't she home?" Kaito curiously peeked into the house and looked around.

"Madam is waiting for you in her room, young master," Terai Kinosuke bowed slightly and gestured towards the second floor, "She said that you should go see her as soon as you return."

"Oh, I understand!"

Kaito responded, casually tossed his schoolbag to Terai Kinosuke, and briskly walked upstairs.

He arrived at the master bedroom door and gently knocked.

"Come in." A magnetic voice came from inside the room.

Kaito carefully pushed open the door and tiptoed inside.

Inside the room, Kuroba Chikage was sitting elegantly in front of the computer, legs crossed, holding a fruit platter, her expression focused on the screen.

"Mom, you were looking for me?" Kaito walked over.

"Hmm..." Kuroba Chikage turned her head, not speaking immediately, but looking Kaito up and down. After confirming that her son was alright, she turned to the side, revealing the screen. "You wasted too much time on this operation. Many media outlets have captured your image. This is dangerous!"

"Oh dear, Mom, I just ran into a little trouble, but I've taken care of it, there won't be any problems." Kaito scratched his head, and following his mother's gesture, he looked at the screen. Sure enough, he saw the image of himself being filmed by the little girl earlier.

I was shocked at the time, and it wasted a lot of my time.

"Don't take this lightly. If your identity is discovered, the consequences could be dire."

Kuroba Chikage was very dissatisfied with her son's nonchalant attitude, and her face showed obvious anger.

As a once-famous phantom thief, Lady, she knew all too well that if she made a mistake in any subtle way, it could lead to irreparable and serious consequences.

Once upon a time, due to a moment of carelessness, she almost fell into a trap carefully designed by a group of thugs.

Recalling that harrowing experience, Kuroba Chikage still felt lingering fear.

That gang is full of vicious thugs. If I really fall into their hands, I don't know what kind of tragic ending I'll suffer.

Seeing his mother's serious expression, Kaito also put away his playful smile. "Mom, I will definitely be more careful from now on."

Kuroba Chikage nodded slightly in agreement, but still reminded him, "Kaito, you must know that becoming a phantom thief is no easy task; it is fraught with countless risks and uncertainties. Therefore, you must always remain vigilant and never let your guard down in the slightest."

Kaito straightened his back and said solemnly, "Mom, I know what I'm doing. I will definitely carry on Father's legacy and live up to your expectations!"

"Sigh~" Kuroba Chikage looked at Kaito with a complicated expression and sighed heavily.

As a mother, she didn't want to see her son go down that path again.

Otherwise, I wouldn't have resolutely chosen to retire from that exciting and adventurous world and return to this mundane life.

After calming herself down, Kuroba Chikage continued, "Are you sure you want to target the Suzuki Group next?"

“Of course!” Kaito said confidently. “The Egg of Memories should belong to its true owner, not be carelessly discarded in a company!”

As a phantom thief, he has an exceptionally strong sense of justice.

"Well, since you've made your decision, I'll help you prepare a plan!" Kuroba Chikage tapped the table. Since she couldn't stop her, she could only help. "Alright, you must be tired. Get some rest."

Kaito responded, "Mom, you should go to bed early too."
