Conan knew perfectly well what his older sister Yukiko thought about their mother, but this only made him angrier.
What mother would be so heartless as to lock her son out of the house?
He's my own son!
"Mom, open the door! I'm not home yet! I really am not home yet!"
Conan frantically rang the doorbell while shouting at the top of his lungs.
However, no matter how he shouted, there was no response from inside the villa. Only his grief-stricken cries echoed alone in the silent night sky, sounding particularly desolate.
"hateful!"
Conan stomped his feet in anger, took out his phone, and dialed Yukiko's number.
As soon as the call connected, he impatiently yelled, "Mom, stop pretending! Open the door! Tell me what happened!"
But on the other end of the phone came Yukiko's voice, feigning sleepiness: "Oh, it's Shinichi. What's up so late? I'm already asleep."
"Asleep? As if you're asleep! The house number has been changed to someone else's! You better explain yourself!"
Conan roared angrily, his voice echoing through the night sky.
"Don't you know why the house number changed?" Yukiko's voice suddenly turned cold. "If it weren't for paying off your debts, would I, your mother, have sold the house?"
Conan was stunned when he heard this.
"Sell the house?"
"Yeah, last time I paid off 1.1 billion yen in debt for you. I used up all the money I had saved up my whole life. And now you're causing trouble again, Shinichi, and you've incurred another 2 billion yen in debt."
When Yukiko mentioned this, her tone became several degrees louder.
After all, she almost ate herself to death back then.
"So you sold the house? And sold it to that guy Yuzuru?"
Conan frowned deeply. Based on his mother's words, he roughly understood what was going on.
"How...how can you talk like that?" Yukiko scooped up a spoonful of watermelon and put it in her mouth, chewing as she scolded, "What do you mean by 'that guy'? How can you be so rude? You should call him 'uncle.' Have you forgotten all the manners I taught you when you were little?"
Her words were loaded with meaning, as if she were giving her son a heads-up.
"Ha, you want me to call him uncle? Why don't you let me call him dad!"
Conan held up his phone, rolled his eyes, and spoke with a tone full of sarcasm and disdain.
Yuzuru Hanyu has gotten himself into such a mess. I'm already being lenient by not cursing him. He actually wants me to call him "uncle." Dream on.
"Actually, it's not impossible..." Yukiko replied weakly on the other end of the phone.
"Huh? Mom, what did you say?"
Conan didn't hear her clearly and asked another question.
Yukiko scooped up another spoonful of watermelon and put it in her mouth, then said, "It's nothing. I'm just saying that the house has already been sold, so nothing you say can change the outcome."
Now is not the time to tell our son the truth; let's keep it a secret for now.
How many did you sell?
Conan's expression turned serious. He was secretly worried that his mother, with her simple-minded nature, might be tricked by Yuzuru and sell the villa cheaply.
500 million.
"500 million?!" Conan's eyes widened, and he roared in disbelief, "Mom, are you crazy?! How could this house only be worth 500 million?! This is our home! How can you sell it so cheaply?!"
Yukiko snorted on the other end of the phone, "It would be good if it could sell for 500 million. If it weren't for your Uncle Yuzuru's kindness in agreeing to use the house to pay off the debt, I don't know when it would have been sold."
Conan was so angry he almost smashed his phone. "Mom, you've definitely been fooled! This house is worth at least 1 billion! He's taking advantage of our misfortune!"
"Alright, alright, stop nagging. It's already been sold anyway," Yukiko said impatiently. "Just tell me if you want it or not. This is the last time your mom will help you. You and your dad will figure out how to make the rest of the money. I can't help you anymore."
Conan gripped his phone tightly, suppressing his anger, and asked, "Where's the money?"
“It’s already been given to them, you only need to pay back 1.5 billion now.”
"So where do you live now?"
"Oh, you don't need to worry about that. Your Uncle Yuzuru is kind; he saw how pitiful your mom was and agreed to let me continue staying at the villa, but I still have to pay rent~"
Yukiko recited all the reasons and excuses she had prepared beforehand, word by word.
Conan was furious: "Mom, how could you do this! What is this? Our house was sold, and you're still living there and paying rent?"
"Ahem~" Yukiko coughed lightly and cleared her throat. "Let me clarify first, this is not our house, it's my house."
"What, your house?"
Conan didn't understand what it meant.
“This house was bought before your father and I got married, using my savings.”
Yukiko explained calmly, "So, the property is only registered in my name."
As she spoke, Yukiko, who was in the living room of the villa, put down the large watermelon in her hand and reached out to flip through the property certificate that was thrown on the table.
Inside, in the register of registered persons, there is only one name, which is her name before she changed it: Fujimine Yukiko.
The words stood out clearly under the light, telling a story from the past.
At that time, Yusaku Kudo's novels were not yet famous, while Yukiko was already a household name and an international film star.
When it came to where they would live after getting married, she simply took out her acting fees and used them to buy the villa for the penniless Yusaku Kudo.
