Mrs. Yoshida stood aside, listening to the conversation between the two. Her mind was filled with the memory of arguing with her daughter about who liked Yuzuru more. Her face suddenly flushed, and her blush became more pronounced.
She coughed lightly in a fluster, trying to change the subject, her voice trembling slightly: "Ayumi, are you hungry? Dinner is ready, let's eat first."
Ayumi shook her head vigorously, still clinging to Yuzuru's arm: "No! I want to play with Yuzuru-nii!"
Yuzuru smiled slightly, pinching Ayumi's soft cheek with his fingers. "Okay, let's play together. But before that, shouldn't Ayumi wash her hands? You've been playing outside for so long, your hands must be covered in dust."
Ayumi then remembered that she hadn't washed her hands yet, so she quickly jumped down from Yuzuru's arms and ran towards the bathroom while shouting at the top of her lungs, "I'm going to wash my hands right now! Yuzuru-nii, wait for me!"
Watching Ayumi run away, Mrs. Yoshida breathed a sigh of relief, and her previously tense shoulders relaxed.
She turned to look at Yuzuru Nanami, her eyes full of reproach, and softly complained, "You're always so good at coaxing children. What if... what if they find out..."
"There's nothing I can do about it, I'm just so popular."
Yuzuru shrugged, his innocent expression both amusing and exasperating.
Mrs. Yoshida was helpless and could do nothing about her young lover, so she could only whisper and instruct, "You play with Ayumi for a while, I'll go and bring dinner to the table."
After saying that, she turned and walked out of the bedroom, her steps hurried.
Yuzuru nodded, watched Mrs. Yoshida leave the bedroom, then lazily lay back on the bed, put his hands behind his head, and had a satisfied smile on his lips.
A moment later, Ayumi came skipping back, holding a small toy in her hand. She excitedly said to Yuzuru, "Brother Yuzuru, look! This is a reward my teacher gave me at school today!"
Children are like that; they are simple-minded and always crave recognition and praise from adults.
Yuzuru Nan didn't disappoint her. He took the toy, examined it carefully, and praised her with a smile, "Ayumi is amazing! It seems you've been doing very well at school."
Ayumi nodded smugly, puffing out her little chest, then climbed onto the bed and plopped down on Yuzuru Nanami's lap. Her little mouth started chattering like a machine gun, telling everyone what had happened that day.
Yuzuru listened patiently, occasionally interjecting a word or two, which made Ayumi giggle.
Unsurprisingly, wherever Conan is, there will be cases.
The Junior Detective Club also ran into trouble after school today. According to Ayumi's description, even her proud little girl was dragged along.
Perhaps Inspector Megure had guessed the relationship between Ayumi's mother and someone else, because after the case was over, he very considerately let Ai and Ayumi, the two little girls, go home first.
As for the tedious task of taking statements, there's Conan and the other two kids to handle that!
If all else fails, the deceased and the murderer can still offer assistance.
So, at this very moment, Conan is sitting in the warning room office chair with a pained expression, a large bump on his head, making him look particularly comical.
Meanwhile, Kogoro Mouri, who was acting as his guardian, was hurriedly called over halfway through his drink, looking quite impatient.
The bump on Conan's head is also his doing.
As an alcoholic, what I hate most is being interrupted when I'm really into my drink.
"Brother Yuzuru, do you know what? Ai is amazing! She found the culprit right away, before Conan even had a chance to find any clues..."
In the bedroom, Ayumi nestled in Yuzuru's arms, her face flushed with excitement, as she animatedly recounted Ai's glorious achievements.
"Yeah?"
Yuzuru gently rubbed Ayumi's cheek, then suddenly changed the subject, asking, "What about Ayumi? Has she found any clues?"
"I...I...me too..."
Suddenly, Ayumi started stammering, her eyes darting around unconsciously, her head lowered, as if she was trying hard to find words to prove herself.
Compared to Conan and Ai, who are wolves in sheep's clothing, she may be smarter than other children, but she is still a child after all.
"Oh~ Didn't our little Ayumi notice anything at all?"
Yuzuru deliberately dragged out the tone, a mischievous smile on his face, as if he were teasing a cute little animal.
Ayumi couldn't find a reason to refute it for a moment, and her pink cheeks puffed up involuntarily, making her look like a little tiger, which was very cute.
"Bad...Brother Yuzuru...bad..."
Haha~
Yuzuru burst into laughter. Teasing the little girl felt like taking a bite of chilled watermelon on a summer day—refreshing and invigorating.
Especially with adorable, innocent little girls like Ayumi, who are as blank as a sheet of paper, teasing them is like a big bad wolf playing with a little lamb, which is full of fun.
He stared at Ayumi's slowly pouting pink lips, a thought flashing through his mind. After thinking for a moment, he suddenly stopped smiling and said seriously, "Ayumi, how about you promise your brother something?"
"Um?"
Ayumi was taken aback, and asked somewhat confusedly, "What is it?"
Yuzuru smiled slightly: "Promise me, from now on, Ayumi's mouth will only be used for eating~"
"Huh?" Ayumi was even more confused.
She completely missed the hidden meaning in Yuzuru's words.
Eating? Isn't the mouth just for eating? Why is my brother emphasizing this?
Yuzuru smiled but remained silent, offering no explanation.
He was speaking "seriously." Physiologically speaking, the mouth is mainly used for eating. Of course, in a sense, he is an angel and is not bound by human oaths.
In other words, Ayumi's agreement is invalid for him.
In the kitchen, Mrs. Yoshida poured papaya soup from the pot into bowls, listening to the cheerful laughter outside, a gentle smile unconsciously appearing on her face. She sighed softly, feeling both happy and a little guilty.
Happiness comes from the arrival of Yuzuru Hanyu, which makes the family lively and warm; while guilt comes from taking things from his beloved daughter, which inevitably makes him feel a little guilty.
"Perhaps... this isn't so bad."
She murmured to herself, her voice as soft as a whisper in the wind, then shook her head and refocused her attention on the dinner in her hands.
As night fell, the lights in the Yoshida house shone warmly and brightly.
The sounds of Ayumi and Hanyu Nana bickering came from the living room, along with Mrs. Yoshida's slightly annoyed urging. She gently tapped the table and called out, "You two, stop fooling around and hurry up and eat!"
This ordinary night seemed to become exceptionally warm and filled with the feeling of home because of the arrival of someone.
