Seeing the three girls' friendship capsize so easily over a name, Yuzuru shook his head with a wry smile.
"Alright, alright," he said, walking over and picking up Sonoko, who was standing on the table arguing like a little warrior. "How about this: the official menu will use 'Chocolate Raspberry Golden Dumplings,' but for special events we can release a limited edition 'Love Dumplings' series?"
Sonoko's eyes lit up immediately. She hugged Nanami Hanyu's arm and said sweetly, "Nanami is the best! Then I want to be the first to launch 'Nanami's Love Dumplings'!"
“No, it should be in order of age.” Ai rested her chin on her hand, thought for a moment, and said seriously, “‘Kanran’s Love Dumpling’ will be served first.”
"I...I'm okay..."
Xiao Lan waved her hand. Her feelings for Nan were deep and sincere, and could not be fully expressed by a single name.
My argument with Sonoko just now was just me teasing my good friend and enjoying this close time together.
Seeing the three girls preparing for another round of arguing, Yuzuru smiled helplessly: "How about this, let's draw lots to decide the order, that's fair and just."
"..."
Sonoko: "..."
Ai: "..."
The air in the store suddenly became quiet. The young lady and the little girl looked at Yuzuru with speechless expressions, unsure whether they should say something.
Sonoko and Ai both gave each other a "Are you serious?" look, exchanged a glance, and tacitly formed a temporary alliance.
"Nan, are you serious?" Sonoko released her grip on Nanami's arm, put her hands on her hips, and adopted a accusing stance. "Let Ran draw lots? What's the difference between that and just declaring her the winner?"
Ai Haibara added expressionlessly, "According to statistics, Ran Mouri's luck has exceeded the normal range of humans. Last month, she won the grand prize three times in a row in the convenience store's lottery, which scared the store manager so much that he thought the machine was broken."
"I...I didn't exaggerate that much..." Xiaolan twisted her fingers shyly, her cheeks slightly flushed. "That time I was just incredibly lucky..."
Her voice trailed off, as if she were somewhat embarrassed by her good fortune.
"A tiny bit?" Sonoko gestured exaggeratedly, waving her hands in the air to emphasize the seriousness of the matter. "The gashapon machine you won from was later proven to have an incorrect probability setting; the actual winning rate was 0.0001%!"
Yuzuru stroked his chin, also feeling that it was somewhat inappropriate: "Then how about this, let's change the method—let's decide the order by playing rock-paper-scissors."
"Rock-paper-scissors?" the three said in unison.
“Yes, but not your average rock-paper-scissors.” Yuzuru smiled. “We’re playing ‘dumpling rock-paper-scissors,’ the rules are…”
He magically produced three small dumpling dolls from his pocket: "Rock is a fried dumpling, scissors are a boiled dumpling, and paper is a steamed dumpling. Best two out of three, the winner gets to decide the order."
Ai squinted her eyes: "When did you prepare all this?"
"I just picked it up from the kitchen." Yuzuru blinked. "Chef Nakajima's showroom has all sorts of dumpling models."
A qualified chef should love what they do.
Triple pay is no joke.
Sonoko snatched a fried dumpling plush toy: "This is so cute! I want this one!"
Xiaolan hesitated before picking up the dumpling doll: "Then... I'll choose this one..."
Xiao Ai sighed and picked up the last steamed dumpling doll: "Childish."
Although she said that, her fingers unconsciously pinched the doll's soft belly.
"Alright, ready—" Yuzuru raised his hand, "Let's play rock-paper-scissors with dumplings, begin!"
Pan-fried dumplings!
Dumplings!
Steamed dumplings!
Round 1: Yuanzi makes pan-fried dumplings, Xiaolan makes boiled dumplings, and Xiaoai makes steamed dumplings.
"Pan-fried dumplings are better than steamed dumplings, steamed dumplings are better than boiled dumplings, and boiled dumplings are better than pan-fried dumplings," Yuzuru announced. "Therefore, in this round, Sonoko beats Ai, Ai beats Ran, and Ran beats Sonoko... It's a tie!"
Sonoko pouted: "What? It's so complicated!"
"Again!" Ai shouted defiantly, gripping the doll tightly.
The second round begins.
Pan-fried dumplings!
Dumplings!
Steamed dumplings!
The same result occurred again.
"This doesn't make sense..." Ai frowned. "Theoretically, the three choices should..."
The third round.
Pan-fried dumplings!
Dumplings!
Steamed dumplings!
"Another draw!" Sonoko exclaimed in frustration, ruffling her short hair. "Is there something wrong with this game?!"
Xiaolan timidly raised her hand: "How about...we try a different approach?"
Ai glanced silently at the person beside her with a slight smile on their lips. Even if she were stupid, she would have noticed something was wrong. What's more, she was a super genius beauty who graduated with two doctoral degrees at the age of 18.
According to probability theory...
It's impossible for all three attempts to have the same result.
But even Newton would turn in his grave if he encountered someone, let alone something as mundane as probability.
At that moment, Yuzuru suddenly clapped his hands: "I have a great idea!"
"Hmm?" The three of them turned to look at him.
With a smile, Yuzuru slowly revealed his plan: "How about we add an ultimate version! Combining the three of our ideas—'Yuzuru-en Ran's Love Dumplings'!"
Ai's lips twitched: "...The name is too long."
She couldn't help but complain, and at the same time, she saw through Yuzuru's little scheme. This guy's wolfish ambition was obvious.
That scoundrel is really good at playing both sides.
You don't offend anyone, and most importantly, you get all the benefits.
