Chapter 933 The Failed Beauty Tactic

"Holy crap! What kind of monster is this?!"

Kaito didn't have time to make any fancy maneuvers. He only felt a sudden darkness before his eyes as the glider's ropes became entangled with the vulture's huge wings and sharp talons, forming a knot.

"Caw—! (Air raid! A large white bird is attacking!)"

"Wow! My hairstyle! My elegance!"

In the ensuing chaos, with chickens flying, feathers and white fabric flying everywhere, the hang glider completely lost its balance. Kaito and the bewildered vulture, like dolls thrown into a washing machine, plummeted erratically towards the courtyard below!

Thump!

Whoosh—!

It hit the ornamental pond in the center of the courtyard with perfect accuracy, splashing up a huge spray of water.

"Quack?! (Is this a windfall? Or fish food?)"

Shonosuke, a frog who was sitting on a rock by the pond, posing as a philosopher and contemplating the meaning of life, was suddenly doused with water. He raised his philosophically-looking head, wanting to see what had happened—

Bang!

Kaito, who fell from the sky, landed squarely on Shonosuke's head. The force of the impact sent him tumbling into the water, leaving only his two frog-like legs, clad in miniature wooden clogs, thrashing about outside.

Kaito himself was also thrown around and felt dizzy and saw stars.

A human and a frog, each with a ring of rotating, figurative little stars on their heads.

The sliding door was flung open, and Mine Raizo poked his head out, frowning and looking displeased: "Gero? Shonosuke? What's all the noise about? Didn't I tell you we have guests tonight? Be quiet!"

Having finally managed to wriggle out from under Kaito's bottom, Shonosuke, his head covered in seaweed and stars, looked around blankly, a hint of innocence in his eyes, and said in a hoarse voice, "Quack... (Reporting to Master, it's nothing, it seems to be just a shooting star... that fell into the pond...)"

Feng Leizang looked suspiciously at the now calm pond and the innocent-looking frog, muttered "Don't make a fuss," and closed the door again.

On the rooftop, Kaito, soaking wet like a drowned rat, finally crawled out of the pond. Rubbing his aching head, he stared at the surreal scene below, his face covered in water droplets and utterly bewildered: "Hey... there's a limit to jokes, isn't there? What kind of monster's mansion is this? Is it a wildlife park that doubles as a circus?"

His worldview suffered its second major blow tonight, shattering to an almost identical degree to that of the materialistic detective next door.

However, his strong professional skills and deep love for his father quickly rallied Kaito, and more importantly, he didn't have time to be emotional: "Forget it! Finish this work as soon as possible, get out of this hellhole as soon as possible! Go back and report to that woman, Akako!"

He shook the water off his hair, trying to regain his elegant thief persona, and began to run quickly and silently across the slippery rooftop, searching for his next infiltration point.

However, being handsome usually lasts only three seconds.

This is a universal law.

Snap—Plop!

An old, loose tile shattered beneath his feet, and Kaito cried out in surprise as he performed another freefall.

This time it was even worse; he smashed through the window below, and amidst the symphony of shattering glass, he tumbled into a room filled with the sweet scent of a young girl and decorated with various cute little toys.

Feng Leilia had just returned to the house and was about to sit down to catch her breath when she was startled by the sudden appearance of this "handsome guy who fell from the sky and got wet," and the teacup in her hand almost flew out of her hand.

Kaito reacted extremely quickly, immediately springing to his feet and striking Kaito's signature composed pose. He put his finger to his lips, making a perfect, electrifying "shh" gesture, with a wicked smile that could charm countless girls.

"Beautiful lady, please don't be alarmed. I meant no harm. It's just that the moonlight is so beautiful tonight that I accidentally got lost... uh?"

He had prepared a series of splendid lines that could have been delivered in an awkward, cheesy way, but he only got halfway through before they were abruptly cut short, as if someone had grabbed him by the throat.

Because Feng Leilia simply blinked, looking at him calmly, even with an expression that seemed to say, "That's it? Such over-the-top acting," then took a deep breath, flung open the door, and shouted at the top of her lungs into the hallway:

"Grandma! Mom! Phantom Thief Kid is here!!!"

The voice is loud and has a strong penetrating power.

Kaito: "???"

What?! His ultimate flirting technique failed him?!

This face could even snag a policewoman! Is it some kind of Mercury retrograde tonight? Or is this family's aesthetic sense just... unique?

Before he could think any further, he heard rapid footsteps outside the door, making the ground shake. Kaito cursed under his breath, "What bad luck!" He didn't care about his elegant image anymore and scrambled out of the broken window, landing in the corridor. He then ran away!

Image? What is that? Is it edible?

He had only run a few steps when he bumped into a woman holding a wooden sword, with a calm demeanor—it was Mine Shizuka who had rushed over after hearing the commotion.

"Kaito Kid, this road is blocked."

Feng Jing held his fragrant wooden sword horizontally, his tone calm and undisturbed.

Undeterred, Kaito decided to make one last desperate attempt, resorting once again to his supposedly invincible charm offensive.

He tossed his wet hair, trying to project a sensual yet downtrodden air, like a fallen nobleman, his voice deliberately husky and affectionate: "Oh? Beautiful lady, why be so aloof? Your eyes are brighter than the stars in the night sky, your aura..."

Before she could finish speaking, without even twitching her brow, Mine Shizuka flicked her wrist, and the wooden sword, with a sharp whistling sound, struck Kaito precisely on the forehead with a "snap!"
