Chapter 910 The Iron Fist of the Law

Hongzi is gone.

Her figure faded into the night like a ghost, until it disappeared completely.

Although the True Love Chocolate didn't achieve the desired effect, the witch was not discouraged. She planned to go back and increase the dosage of the potion, this time mixing it directly into the red wine, and try to get Yuzuru to drink it.

No one can resist the allure of true love.

If so, increase the dosage.

This stems from absolute confidence in the red magic tradition that has been passed down for thousands of years.

"Yusuke, I will definitely make you my prisoner..." The witch's voice echoed in the air with an undeniable domineering aura.

Kaito, who was watching from behind, was dumbfounded. It took him a while to react before he shouted in the direction where Akako had disappeared, "Hey! At least give me back my phone!"

However, all that answered him was empty silence; Hongzi had long since disappeared.

Kaito sighed helplessly and could only dejectedly check on Terai Kinosuke's situation. Today was truly a day of losing both his mother and his army; not only did he fail to obtain information about the Pandora Gem, but he also lost his phone.

Before he could continue complaining, a bell rang.

"Ring ring ring—"

Kaito was startled by the sudden ringing of his cell phone. Looking around, he saw that it was his usual cell phone—he always used a different one when he went out dressed as Kaito Kid, and this one was habitually left in the pool hall.

The name displayed on the screen made his heart skip a beat: Qingzi.

"It's so late..." Kaito glanced at the clock on the wall; the hour hand was approaching midnight. "Why would she call?"

An ominous premonition surged into my heart like a tide.

Aoko would never call him at this time, unless...

Douzi dared not think any further.

"Hello? Qingzi?" He pressed the answer button, trying to make his voice sound relaxed and natural.

"Kaito..." Aoko's voice on the other end of the phone was unusually calm, so calm it was almost frightening. "What are you doing right now?"

Kaito's eyes darted around, and he blurted out, "Ah, I'm at home watching TV with my mom! She's recently become obsessed with idol dramas and insists on watching them with me. The plot is quite interesting, haha."

As he spoke, he frantically winked at Terai Kinosuke, who had just woken up, his eyes filled with anxiety, signaling him to cooperate.

"Young Master...this..." The old butler looked troubled.

Kaito covered the microphone, lowered his voice, and almost pleaded, "Please, Grandpa Terai! Imitate my mom's voice! Otherwise, we'll be exposed!"

Terai Kinosuke sighed helplessly, and finally said in a high-pitched voice, "Hey Kaito~ stop making phone calls, this episode is at a crucial point~"

The voice was so affected and pretentious that even Kaito himself couldn't help but get goosebumps and feel extremely uncomfortable.

There was a few seconds of silence on the other end of the phone.

“Is that so…” Aoko’s voice was so soft it was almost inaudible. “Then… please give my regards to Aunt Chikage.”

"No problem!" Kaito breathed a sigh of relief, realizing he had gotten away with it. He secretly rejoiced. "By the way, my mom told me you went to the Ryoma exhibition with her today, right? I heard that Kid showed up again?"

"Yes, I saw it." Aoko's tone suddenly turned icy, as if she had fallen from the warmth of spring into a freezing cellar. "I wish I could kill him."

Kaito shivered inexplicably, feeling a chill run from his feet to his heart. He chuckled dryly and said, "Haha... you hate him that much..."

"Because he deceived the most important person in my life." After saying this, Aoko hung up the phone, leaving only the busy tone echoing in Kaito's ears.

Kaito stared at his phone, completely bewildered, not understanding what Aoko meant at all. However, he still breathed a sigh of relief: "Phew... thankfully I got away with it."

"Young Master," Terai asked worriedly, "what happened?"

Kaito waved his hand dismissively, "It's nothing. Aoko might have become suspicious, but we managed to fool her. That idiot is the easiest to fool."

Although he said that, he still felt a little uneasy, as if he felt that this matter was not so simple.

.........

Nakamori's house, Aoko's room.

The soft moonlight poured down like water, enveloping the entire room in tranquility.

Aoko stood quietly by the window of her room, staring blankly out the window. The phone in her hand seemed to lose its weight, slowly slipping from her palm and falling onto the soft carpet without making a sound, just like her broken heart, silently sinking into despair.

Looking out of her window, she could clearly see the living room of the Kuroba family next door—Kuroba Chikage was sitting alone on the sofa, wearing a face mask and leisurely flipping through a magazine.

The living room was deserted; there was no sign of Kaito "watching TV with his mom."

"As expected...it was a scam..."

The girl murmured softly, her voice choked with broken sobs.

The moonlight streamed through the glass, bathing her in a cold, silvery glow, adding to her loneliness and sorrow.

The moon is beautiful tonight, and it's very round.

However, Kaito's lie was like an extremely sharp knife, piercing straight into her heart and ruthlessly severing the last shred of hope in her heart.

Her childhood sweetheart, the boy she once loved, had been deceiving her all along, repeatedly toying with her beloved father and treating their family's trust as a toy...
