Chapter 15 Conan, do you know Shinichi Kudo?

"Professor Agasa, what are you doing here? Is Shinichi home?" Ran asked impatiently as she headed toward the study.

"Shinichi? He's not home. He didn't come back last night. He just called me and said he's encountered a tricky case that needs to be handled, so he asked me to come over and check if the gas in his kitchen is turned off."

Dr. Agasa hurriedly explained.

"Shinichi has some news? Then why doesn't he call me? I've called him so many times, but he just won't answer, and he won't even reply to a single text message."

Ran complained as she took out her phone to dial Shinichi Kudo's number again.

Just as Ran was about to make the call, Professor Agasa quickly tried to distract her: "Oh dear, I haven't had a chance to ask you yet, who is this handsome young man standing next to you?"

"Oh, him? He's Nanami Hanyu, my and Shinichi's classmate, and also my and Sonoko's friend." Ran then turned around and enthusiastically introduced Professor Agasa to Nanami Hanyu.

"Kun-kun, this chubby old gentleman is Professor Agasa! He's a remarkable scientist!"

Yuzuru Hanyu immediately recognized the kind, chubby old man in front of him. Many people might mistakenly believe that Professor Agasa is called "Professor" because he holds a doctoral degree, but that's not the case—his name is simply Professor Agasa!

Dr. Agasa (阿笠博士, akasahiroshi) takes his surname from Agatha Christie's "Agatha" and his given name from Dr. King, a character in Juzo Umino's novels. He is also a mad scientist who often makes wonderful inventions.

"Hello, Professor Agasa, my name is Yuzuru Hanyu." Yuzuru Hanyu nodded politely, greeted Professor Agasa, and then stood quietly to the side.

"Hello, young man! Welcome!" Professor Agasa greeted warmly with a kind smile, then turned to continue explaining to Ran.

While the two were talking, Yuzuru seized the opportunity to make his move. He pretended to be nonchalant, looking around as if searching for someone.

Once he was sure the two were too preoccupied to look after him, Yu Shengnan quickly moved to a corner where he could avoid their sight and quietly activated the snake talisman he carried with him. A magical power enveloped his entire body, making him disappear like a ghost.

Then, Yuzuru quietly entered the study. As soon as he stepped into the room, he saw a little boy dressed in a blue suit, white shirt and gray shorts, who was crouching under the desk, straining his ears and listening intently to the sounds around him.

Without a doubt, this person is Conan Edogawa, or rather, Shinichi Kudo himself.

Witnessing this scene, Yuzuru's lips curled into a slight smile, amusement creeping into his heart. He then walked to the bookshelf behind Conan, casually picking up a relatively thick book. Next, he aimed a corner of the book at Conan, and then released it with a swift motion.

"Ouch! That hurts!" Conan cried out in surprise from the sudden pain.

Ran, who was talking to Professor Agasa outside, heard screams coming from the study and became suspicious. She quickly turned to the professor and asked:

"Why does it sound like something's coming from inside? Is Shinichi in there?"

As soon as she finished speaking, Xiaolan prepared to walk towards the study.

At the same time, Yuzuru Hanyu also made his successful exit and walked out from behind the two of them.

As Yuzuru walked, he kept talking: "Hmm... I think I heard some noises inside too. Should we go in and check it out?"

Upon hearing this, Professor Agasa wiped his sweat even faster, and a few beads of sweat even dripped from his forehead. His tone sounded somewhat unnatural, but he forced himself to remain calm as he said, "Oh? Is that so? But I didn't notice it just now... Hahaha."

However, Ran had no time to pay attention to what Professor Agasa was saying.

She walked straight into the study, her gaze immediately drawn to a little boy sitting on the floor, covering his head with his hands. Beside him was a thick book.

"Huh? Why is there a little kid in the new house?" Xiaolan muttered to herself, full of doubt.

When Conan saw Ran walk in, his expression changed drastically, and his mind raced as he frantically tried to figure out how to deal with the situation.

Unfortunately, Ran didn't give him much time to come up with a solution. She had already walked up to Conan, bent down, and softly asked, "Little boy, what's your name? Why are you at Shinichi's house?"

Forced into a corner, Shinichi Kudo forced a smile, beads of sweat rolling down his forehead as he racked his brains for a way to escape. Just as he turned his gaze, he suddenly noticed a book on the bookshelf, and an idea flashed into his mind.

"My name is Conan, Edogawa Conan, and I am a detective." Shinichi Kudo's tone was surprisingly fluent and natural, as if he had rehearsed it many times before.

Yuzuru Hanyu, who had been watching the show from the sidelines, also came over. "Your name is Conan? Is it Conan from Conan Doyle?"

Before he could finish speaking, Conan saw Yuzuru reach out and take a book by Conan Doyle from the bookshelf behind him and place it in front of him.

"Yusuke? What's he doing here with Ran? Is there something I don't know?"

Looking at the smiling Yuzuru in front of him, and Ran beside him scrutinizing him with a suspicious expression, Conan inwardly groaned, and hurriedly forced a smile as he explained:

"Big brother, you're amazing! You guessed it right away. My parents named me Conan Doyle because they really liked him."

"Really? I see."

Yuzuru Hanyu wore an inscrutable smile, his gaze fixed intently on Conan. Conan felt a chill run down his spine under his gaze, sensing that Hanyu Hanyu seemed to have recognized him.

Although Shinichi Kudo didn't want to admit it, the facts were undeniable—Kusu Hanyu, the genius boy who had long held the top spot in the Todo region and was far ahead of the second-place winner, had an unquestionablely high IQ.

That's precisely why Conan is now especially worried that Yuzuru will see through his true identity.

"Little friend, you look quite similar to one of my classmates, except he doesn't wear glasses!" Yuzuru Nan still had a smile on his face, but his eyes seemed to be able to see right through Conan's heart.

Upon hearing this, Conan's palms immediately began to sweat profusely with nervousness. No, I can't panic! There are plenty of people who look like Shinichi Kudo; what are the chances that it's the same person? Why can't it be someone who looks like me?

Conan forced a calm demeanor, chuckled twice, and asked, "Ha, really? What's your friend's name? How come he looks so much like me?"

Just as Conan was trying to explain, Yuusuke suddenly leaned down, met Conan's gaze, stared directly into his eyes, and said softly, "The classmate I was talking about is named Shinichi Kudo. Do you know him?"
