Chapter 29 Retrieving the Contract of Indenture

Su Xuening was startled: "What's going on?"

Bihe glanced warily at Lülian.

Su Xuening didn't care: "It's okay, I believe her."

Green Lotus lowered her eyes as she served Su Xuening, not daring to show any expression.

Bihe knew that the contracts of sale for Green Lotus's entire family were with her mistress, and that she had also taken the mistress's poison, so she temporarily trusted Green Lotus.

"I heard that Jinzhu went to the gate of the city guard camp early in the morning to pick up Second Master after his shift. On her way back, she encountered a horse that suddenly went mad on the street. In order to save Second Master, Jinzhu was trampled by the horse, which stepped on her belly and she miscarried on the spot."

Bihe was still a little shaken as she spoke.

Although she knew this was probably Jinzhu's scheme, she was still incredibly audacious to let a mad horse trample her belly. Wasn't she afraid of being trampled to death?

Su Xuening hadn't expected Jin Zhu's method to be this; she was really going all out.

Although dangerous, this method is sure to be effective.

I have to say, Jinzhu is quite clever!

Su Xuening was silent for a moment, then took out a bottle of medicine from her medicine box and gave it to Bihe: "Try to give it to her so that she can take good care of herself."

"Yes," Bihe replied, then took the medicine bottle and left.

Green Lotus was somewhat shocked, never expecting that Golden Pearl was actually Miss's person.

Jinzhu used to be the second madam's most capable maid, and now she's the marquis's concubine. How did she end up being the young lady's woman?

Su Xuening glanced coldly at Green Lotus.

Green Lotus was so frightened that she knelt down immediately: "Don't worry, Miss, I will never tell anyone."

“Your whole family’s lives are in your own hands, what do I have to worry about?” Su Xuening picked up a white jade hairpin and inserted it into her hair.

Upon hearing this, Green Lotus turned completely pale and dared not harbor any disloyal thoughts.

In the backyard, in Jinzhu's room.

Jinzhu's face was deathly pale, her eyes closed, as if she had fallen silent.

"How is it?" Su Renyi asked the physician who was taking Jinzhu's pulse with a solemn expression.

The royal physician shook his head regretfully, stood up, and said, "My lord, the child cannot be saved."

Su Renyi was immediately heartbroken. Looking at the extremely weak Jinzhu, he frowned and asked, "How is she?"

The physician said solemnly, "The internal damage is severe; he needs proper care and recuperation."

Su Renyi sighed silently and waved to the physician, "Go and prescribe the medicine."

"Yes," the physician replied, picking up his medicine chest and leaving.

As soon as the physician left, Jinzhu slowly woke up: "My lord..."

"Watch out!" Seeing Jinzhu about to get up, Su Renyi quickly stepped forward to stop her.

Upon seeing Su Renyi, Jinzhu immediately pulled him aside and asked with concern, "Lord Marquis, are you alright?"

"I'm fine, but you..." Seeing that Jin Zhu was in such a state herself, yet still cared about him so much, Su Renyi finally felt some pity for her.

"My child!" As if remembering something, Jinzhu touched her belly in alarm and exclaimed, "My child..."

Seeing her like this, Su Renyi really couldn't bear it, so he hugged her and coaxed her, "You're still young, you can have children later."

"The child is gone!" Jinzhu couldn't accept this fact and burst into tears while holding Su Renyi.

Jinzhu's heartbroken and helpless cries made Su Renyi feel indebted to her: "Jinzhu, you have done a great service in saving the master, so I will recommend you to be my concubine."

After crying for a long time, Jinzhu finally stopped crying: "This servant does not want to be a concubine."

"Why?" Su Renyi asked, puzzled. Being a concubine was better than being a maidservant.

With tears welling up in her eyes, Jinzhu said, "I am Madam's maid, and Madam will never agree to let me become a concubine."

Su Renyi wiped away Jinzhu's tears with heartache: "You don't need to worry about her, I'll talk to her."

Jinzhu glanced at Su Renyi, then struggled to get up from the bed, knelt before Su Renyi, and cried, "My lord, Jinzhu really doesn't want to be a concubine. Before, Jinzhu unintentionally became pregnant with your child, and the madam and the second young lady drugged Jinzhu with aphrodisiac, trying to kill her. Fortunately, I escaped and found you, my lord, and that saved my life. I really dare not do it again. Please, my lord, spare my life."

Jinzhu kowtowed to Su Renyi while crying.

Seeing that Jinzhu insisted on not becoming a concubine, Su Renyi didn't press the issue: "Then what do you want?"

Jinzhu finally stopped crying. After thinking carefully for a while, she said, "If the Marquis insists on rewarding me, then I want my indenture."

Upon hearing this, Su Renyi frowned unhappily: "You want to leave the Yong'an Marquis's residence?"

"No!" Jinzhu shook her head quickly, then looked at Su Renyi with love in her eyes: "This servant loves the Marquis, and this servant does not want to leave the Marquis. But this servant is also wary of the Madam. This servant wants to take back the contract of sale, regain her freedom, and no longer be restricted by the Madam. Then this servant will serve the Marquis in the study, and will not be a concubine, but only the Marquis's servant. What do you say, Marquis?"

Jinzhu knelt at Su Renyi's feet, resting her head gently on his knees, gazing at him with deep affection, perfectly portraying a gentle woman who deeply loves him, yet has no desires and is devoted to him.

Jinzhu's deep affection for him, and her obsequious manner, instantly ignited Su Renyi's vanity as a man: "Alright, I'll take care of it."

Following Jinzhu's suggestion, Su Renyi vividly imagined the scene of him and Jinzhu spending time together in the study, enjoying each other's company. Recalling the excitement and pleasure they had shared, Su Renyi couldn't help but embrace Jinzhu emotionally: "Get well soon, and I'll definitely pamper you in the future."

"Thank you for your kindness, Lord Marquis." Jinzhu concealed her disgust and hid directly in Su Renyi's arms.

Although the two of them couldn't do much, they still managed to take advantage of him in some ways.
