Chapter 3 Orange Pen
The young man turned his head slightly to look at Chi Jinjin. His hair was like black jade with a faint luster. Under his slightly parted hairstyle, he had a pair of phoenix eyes that looked very simple, but also somewhat charming. His face was as white as porcelain without any flaws, and his lips were like cherries dipped in water, making people want to take a bite.
Chi Jinjin thought that the two young masters of the group she met yesterday were the most handsome, but she didn't expect that the boy in front of her was far better than them. She felt like she was looking at a spring oil painting, with the blue sky, green grass, and colorful cherry blossoms as his background, which made her lose her soul and forget to think, and just stare at him blankly.
"Freshmen? Don't you need military training?" The young man asked slowly, his voice gentle and soft, like the breeze in March, bringing Chi Jinjin back to his senses.
"Ah? I..." Chi Jinjin came back to her senses, hesitating whether to ask this senior, but her heart became inexplicably nervous again. When she met his gaze, she couldn't even utter a complete sentence, and she pinched her fingers anxiously.
The young man smiled faintly, which strongly touched Chi Jinjin's heartstrings. He said slowly, "You are lost, right? Where did you train?"
"North, North Field." Chi Jinjin replied woodenly.
He raised his hand and pointed, saying lazily, "Go straight on that road and turn left."
"Thank you, thank you, senior." Chi Jinjin bowed to him and quickly trotted towards that road.
But she hadn't run far before she stopped involuntarily and looked back. The boy had closed his eyes and fallen asleep again. The wind blew his hair and turned the pages of the book. Cherry blossoms fell on his book, his body, his head, and his face.
Cherry blossoms are letters from spring, stamped with a girl's heart. She is like the cherry blossoms on the branches in March, giving us a glimpse of the splendor of this world.
She thought that the wind and him that year had created her sunny March, but she didn't expect that there would be an entire high school, and the clean and dazzling youthful spirit would brighten up all the joy of her girlhood...
Chi Jinjin walked forward as he said, and just met Tang Shi who was running towards her at the corner.
"Jinjin, where have you been? The instructor saw that you hadn't come for a long time, so he called me to find you. I almost ran all over the school." Tang Shi asked.
Chi Jinjin replied embarrassedly, "I was lost, but luckily I met a kind senior who showed me the way."
"Okay, let's go back quickly. The instructor is waiting." Tang Shi pulled her to the training ground.
Fortunately, the instructor did not blame Chi Jinjin. However, the few people who were caught skipping training suffered a miserable fate. They were punished by standing at attention for the entire afternoon and doing more than 50 push-ups.
A day of military training finally ended. Chi Jinjin was exhausted and sweaty all over. She just wanted to take a shower quickly, but other people in the dormitory also wanted to take a shower. Chi Jinjin didn't want to squeeze in, so she let them go first.
She walked to the balcony and enjoyed the evening breeze. Although the air conditioner was on in the dormitory, it was too cold. Chi Jinjin still preferred the natural breeze.
After her roommates had finished washing, Chi Jinjin took the clean clothes in to wash. The bathroom floor was covered with foam and hair. After she finished washing, she cleaned up the hair and foam, along with her own clothes.
As I walked out of the bathroom, the stuffy feeling disappeared immediately, and the rising mist brought waves of freshness, taking away the fatigue of the day.
She put the dirty clothes into the basin and wiped her hair with a dry towel. At this time, a roommate came over with a pile of clothes and said to her, "Monitor, are you going to wash clothes later?"
Chi Jinjin nodded.
My roommate hurriedly said, "Then you can help us wash together. I'm too tired and really don't want to move."
"Okay, okay." Chi Jinjin nodded in agreement.
The roommate quickly threw the clothes in her arms into her basin and said happily, "Thank you, monitor."
"You're welcome." Chi Jinjin said with a smile.
After drying her hair, Chi Jinjin started to run water to wash clothes. The others lay on the bed, playing games and watching TV series. After she finished washing, the others asked Chi Jinjin to help them hang up the clothes, so Chi Jinjin helped them hang up the clothes.
After hanging up the clothes, Chi Jinjin returned to her bed and took out a thick green notebook from the bookshelf. The edges of the notebook were yellowed and looked a little old. She had had the habit of writing a diary since elementary school.
But when I wrote about what happened in the afternoon, my pen stopped. The figure of the young man involuntarily appeared in my mind, as well as his voice as gentle as the rain in the south of the Yangtze River and his smile as warm as the winter sun.
Chi Jinjin thought of something and took out a brand new notebook from the drawer. It still had a pattern of wrinkled chrysanthemums on it. She opened the notebook and thought about the boy's appearance. She slowly wrote on the clean paper...
Military training was in full swing. Chi Jinjin sat under a tree, looking at the clear sky. For the first time in her life, she longed for rain. Tang Shi next to her was drawing something on the ground with a stone.
"What are you drawing?" Chi Jinjin asked puzzledly.
Tang Shi said, "This is the rain-seeking divination I learned online. I heard it works."
"Why haven't you reported feeling unwell recently?" Chi Jinjin wondered.
Tang Shi held her hand and said affectionately, "Oh, my dear sister, how can I see you suffering alone? As the one you love most, I want to share your joys and sorrows with you!"
Chi Jinjin forced a smile, pulled his hand out of hers, and said word by word, "Speak. Human. Words."
Tang Shi pouted, wanting to cry but unable to speak, "Well, it's because of the instructor. He found out that I'm a gym student..."
"So that's how it is." Chi Jinjin said with a smile.
"Oh, God, please send a heavy rain soon. I really can't bear it anymore." Tang Shi put his hands together and prayed to the sky again and again.
After the morning training, Chi Jinjin was pulled by Tang Shi and rushed to the cafeteria at the speed of a 100-meter sprint.
But despite this, there were still a lot of people gathered in the cafeteria, and it looked green from a distance.
Chi Jinjin and Tang Shi had to work very hard to grab some food from them.
But there were no seats left in the cafeteria, so they could only eat on the grass outside the cafeteria.
Fortunately, there were trees on the grass, and it was quite cool to sit under the trees and eat.
"Jinjin, why don't we see any seniors in the cafeteria?" Tang Shi asked curiously as she chewed her food. "Don't the seniors need to eat?"
"I don't know." Chi Jinjin shook her head.
Tang Shi suddenly pointed to the second floor of the cafeteria and said, "Look."
Chi Jinjin looked over and saw that it was Shen Moli who was having dinner by the window. There was a senior sitting opposite her. The senior even inserted a straw into her milk tea, and the two of them were talking and laughing.
Tang Shi envied, "It's good to be delicate and frail. You don't have to fight for food, you just have to wait for the seniors to serve you, and you don't have to stand at attention."
"Beautiful people have always had privileges, but Tang Shi, you are also very beautiful." Chi Jinjin said.
"Really." Tang Shi touched her tanned face. It was also her bad luck. There was a teaching building opposite the place where they were training. It could block the scorching sun in the afternoon, but there was only one place that could not block it. She happened to be standing in that place, becoming the "Daughter Chosen by Light". She was exposed to the sun for ten hours out of twenty-four hours a day, and her tan was as bad as the instructor.
She said with a smug smile, "I think so too. It's really because you, Chi Jinjin, have good taste."
Chi Jinjin has become accustomed to Tang Shi who would be overjoyed by just a few compliments. However, Bai Tang Shi is indeed good-looking. With a height of 1.7 meters, she looks like a cool and elegant queen when she doesn't speak.
"Tang Shi, what is that?" Chi Jinjin saw a strange car slowly approaching from a distance.
Tang Shi looked back and replied, "It's the sprinkler truck."
"It won't spray on our side, right? Should we move to another place?" Chi Jinjin was a little worried when she saw that the water was spraying over a large area and they happened to be on the side of the road.
Tang Shi waved his hand and said, "No, no, it will shut down when it sees someone is around."
"Oh, that's good." Chi Jinjin felt relieved and lowered her head to continue eating.
But the sprinkler truck came over and showed no intention of turning off the water.
Water fell from the sky like rain.
"Damn!" Tang Shi was shocked.
"Stop talking and run."
Before Chi Jinjin could even swallow the food in her mouth, she quickly grabbed her coat and hat, carried her lunch box, and evacuated with Tang Shi, running wildly in the water.
After the sprinkler truck passed by, the grass was wet and water droplets dripped from the tips of the leaves.
Chi Jinjin and Tang Shi saw each other. They protected their food very well, but they were soaked like drowned rats. However, it did not affect their mood to continue eating.
Since they couldn't sit in their original seats anymore, they just sat down by the flower bed.
"Jinjin, do you feel that we look like beggars on the street now?" Tang Shi suddenly said to Chi Jinjin who was eating next to him.
Chi Jinjin wiped the water stains off her face and looked at Tang Shi. She was holding the meal with messy hair, and she really looked like a homeless person. Of course, she herself was not much better.
The two looked at each other funny and laughed at each other at the same time.
Youth is always so colorful. Everyone is performing different stories in the same scene. Some people are enjoying the afternoon by the window, while others are laughing and clapping their legs in the flowerbed by the roadside...
In a blink of an eye, a week of military training passed.
"Team Leader Chi."
The instructor's voice rang in his ears again. He said helplessly, "You're turning the wrong way again."
Chi Jinjin, who has a serious lack of motor nerves, has been trying to learn how to march in step these days, but she just can't learn it.
After hearing what he said, Chi Jinjin didn't know which hand to move with or which leg to move, and her walking posture was just like a robot.
The instructor couldn't bear it any longer and said, "Come here."
Chi Jinjin gritted her teeth and came to the instructor.
The instructor picked up two branches and asked her to hold the other end and take her away.
But as they walked, Chi Jinjin took the instructor with him and made him turn astray. The instructor was completely unaware and was still shouting slogans loudly.
Originally, Chi Jinjin walking with her hands turned wasn't very funny, but the scene of her walking with her instructor turned into something extremely funny, and the whole place suddenly burst into laughter.
The instructor finally reacted, quickly dropped the branch and held his forehead.
Chi Jinjin smiled awkwardly on the side.
After training, Chi Jinjin thought about what happened in the morning and felt more and more embarrassed, so she went to practice alone.
But when I was practicing, I was always laughed at by passers-by because of my clumsy appearance.
Chi Jinjin was shy and couldn't act as if no one was around, so she wanted to find a place where no one was around to practice. After searching for a long time, she finally found an empty forest. The forest was full of osmanthus trees, and the dense leaves blocked the scorching sun, making it quite cool.
Chi Jinjin patted his chest, encouraged himself, and said to himself, "Come on, Chi Jinjin, you can do it!"
She took a deep breath, shouted slogans, took a step forward and waved her hands, but she still turned sideways while walking and almost tripped herself.
She really didn't expect that the first problem she faced after coming to this school would be walking.
"Oh my God, help."
Chi Jinjin didn't want to be laughed at anymore, but she couldn't change it. She was so stupid that she was about to cry. She banged her head against the tree trunk next to her because of the headache.
Suddenly, a laugh came from behind.
Chi Jinjin was stunned. She turned around and saw that there was a bench in the woods. Sitting on the bench was the boy from yesterday.
"Senior?" Chi Jinjin mumbled, then quickly came to her senses and bowed, "Hello, Senior!"
"I'm sorry, senior. I didn't mean to disturb you. I didn't know you were resting here. I'll leave now." Chi Jinjin explained and apologized in a panic, turned around and hurried away.
The boy said gently, "It's okay, you can stay here, I'm leaving."
Chi Jinjin looked at him.
The young man closed the book in his hand, stood up, and walked slowly towards her with his tall figure.
Chi Jinjin felt like she saw the male protagonist in a comic book walk out of the book. Her heart was beating faster and faster, and she forgot to breathe and forgot to move her eyes.
The young man walked up to her and stopped, his 190cm figure completely covering Chi Jinjin, who was about 160cm tall.
Chi Jinjin didn't realize at first that he was so tall, as tall as a towering tree.
"Are you practicing marching?" the young man asked Chi Jinjin with his head down.
Chi Jinjin nodded woodenly, then scratched his head sheepishly and said, "I'm not good at walking. I always get scolded by the instructor, so I want to practice on my own."
"I just saw you turning in the opposite direction," he said calmly.
Chi Jinjin was very upset. Seeing such an embarrassing thing, his face turned red all of a sudden. He wished he could find a hole in the ground, and could only use a silly smile to cover up his embarrassment.
The young man put one hand in his trouser pocket and said to her lazily, "Actually, you don't have to worry too much about the position of your hands and feet. First, walk like you normally would, then try to straighten your hands and feet. Finally, add the slogan and clear your mind while walking."
Chi Jinjin didn't expect that he was actually teaching her how to march, so she quickly thanked him and said, "Thank you for the advice, senior."
"Come on, junior high school girl."
He smiled faintly, the mottled sunlight shone on his body, the grass was lush and the birds were flying on the boy's shoulders, and his smile like the breeze and the bright moon became the divine light in her heart.
Chi Jinjin stared blankly at him as he turned and left, walking slowly on the red brick path in the woods in pure white sneakers. His soft, fluffy short hair and clothes were blown by the wind. The light at the end of the path finally embraced him slowly, and finally disappeared in the light.
Chi Jinjin withdrew her gaze and slowly walked to the bench. She picked up an orange pen with a sycamore leaf engraved on the pen holder...
Later, Chi Jinjin practiced as he said and finally found the feeling. She made rapid progress and finally stopped turning inversely. The instructor even praised her.
"Jinjin, are you cheating? How come you can't turn the right way around just after noon?" Tang Shi asked in surprise.
Chi Jinjin put the bottle cap on, turned around and said to her, "No, I met a senior at noon, and he gave me some advice."
"Senior!" Tang Shi was so excited when she heard it that she asked hurriedly, "Is he handsome? Is he tall? What's his name? Which class are you from?"
"I didn't ask his name." Chi Jinjin replied.
Tang Shi was immediately disappointed and said, "Oh, why didn't you ask her name?"
"I, didn't feel comfortable asking..." Chi Jinjin said, then replied, "But he is indeed very handsome and tall."
After hearing this, Tang Shi became even more disappointed and regretted it so much that he thought to himself that if he had known earlier, he would have gone with her. Why didn't he have this romantic encounter?
