Chapter 8 His Window
"Jinjin, Jinjin!" Tang Shi stopped and grabbed Chi Jinjin, who was about to run, and said, "We've already run far enough. There's no need to run anymore."
Chi Jinjin finally realized that she had already run very far with Tang Shi.
Tang Shi was at a loss for words and said, "Jinjin, you said you were dying just to take a walk, but now you're like a chicken with blood injected."
"Isn't this running for one's life?" Chi Jinjin said, slumping down on the bench beside her. It would have been fine if Tang Shi hadn't said anything, but as soon as she said it, all the fatigue in her body came flooding back, she felt so hot all over, and her throat felt like it was going to burst into flames.
Chi Jinjin unscrewed the bottle cap and drank half of the water directly.
Tang Shi was still as energetic as ever, not even breathing heavily, her cheeks flushed. She sat down next to Chi Jinjin and chatted, "Song Ci is really quite naive. Senior Nan's words were clearly insulting him, but he didn't even realize it. What an idiot. But then again, I didn't expect Senior Nan, who looks so gentle, to actually have such a sharp tongue."
Yeah, she didn't expect it either.
But his voice, even when he was talking about people, was still so pleasant.
Chi Jinjin looked at the mineral water bottle in her hand, but her mind was full of his appearance just now. He was not in front of her, but he had never left.
"Damn it!" Tang Shi suddenly looked towards a place nervously.
Chi Jinjin looked over and saw the bald man who had just fought with Song Ci not far away.
"Tang Shi, let's go quickly." Chi Jinjin said in panic.
Tang Shi nodded. When the two were about to leave, two men suddenly jumped out from behind the bald man and pressed him to the ground.
"Who is it?" the bald man asked angrily with his face pressed to the ground.
The two men held him down and said, "Behave yourself! Someone reported you for running a private casino and molesting women. Come with us!"
As he spoke, one of them took out a pair of silver handcuffs from his coat and handcuffed the bald man's hands.
Then a police car drove up and the man was escorted inside...
Chi Jinjin and Tang Shi had a meal when it was already evening. The sunset was very gentle and the wind was intoxicating. She didn't know who spilled the paint on the edge of the clouds and dyed half of the blue sky red. She liked the gentle breeze in the evening and the sunset, dusk and dawn.
The sky gradually darkened and the sunset came with the evening glow.
Chi Jinjin returned to the dormitory, which was empty. She turned on the desk lamp, took out the orange pen from the drawer, and smiled at the pen inexplicably.
But the noise of a few flies broke the silence.
Chi Jinjin turned her head and saw that there were already a lot of clothes piled in the bucket under Shen Moli’s table, with socks, pants and even underwear piled together, and a few flies flying in and out under the table.
At night, Shen Moli came back from outside, took a shower, climbed onto the bed, and lay on the bed playing games enthusiastically.
Chi Jinjin came back from the sink and stopped by her bedside. She looked at her and reminded her, "Moli, the weather is getting hotter and hotter. Your clothes will definitely get stained with sweat or something. If you keep them for too long, they will be damaged. It's better to wash them sooner rather than later."
"I see. You're from the countryside, so you should take care of yourself." Shen Moli replied impatiently, and glanced at Chi Jinjin with disdain.
Chi Jinjin sighed and returned to her bed helplessly.
"That's right, a country boy acts like he's so sophisticated." Wang Xiaomo echoed sarcastically.
Chi Jinjin certainly understood what they meant, but she didn't say anything. She sat down and started to concentrate on doing the questions...
During the break on Monday, everyone in the school has to gather on the school playground. The rest of the time only the first-year students can participate, including morning exercises.
Of course, this group of people does not include Song Ci and Ji Yang. They would not stand honestly in the crowd under the scorching sun.
The dean of studies was giving a lecture on the stage.
Chi Jinjin's gaze turned over the crowd and fell on Nan Xuqiu in the distance. From the moment he appeared, her eyes had never left him, so even though they were so far apart, one in the left half of the playground and the other in the right half, she could still see him.
He was standing on the sunny playground in his school uniform, looking fresh and energetic, holding a bright red class flag in his hand. A corner of the flag was blown by the wind, brushing across his fluffy and soft hair.
Only in the presence of so many people could she dare to look at him so openly and without any concealment. He had broken into her life, but she had never stepped into his world.
The cicadas are chirping, the sun is glaring, and summer is coming quietly. People with a chaotic mind remain silent.
Song Ci sat by the window, chewing gum, looking at the people downstairs, and complained, "I really don't understand Lao Nan. Why does he have to stand there with this group of people and listen to that idiot on the stage?"
"I'm a good student, who's like you." Ji Yang put his feet on the table, leaned against the back seat and played games, casually responding to Song Ci's words.
After the lecture, the crowd dispersed like a scattered anthill.
Chi Jinjin followed Nan Xuqiu silently from a distance, walking towards the teaching building with him. She was talking to Tang Shi beside her, but her eyes were all on the person in front of her, envying everyone who walked with him.
She was so fascinated that she almost followed him upstairs without realizing it. Fortunately, Tang Shi held her back.
"Jinjin, where are you going?" Tang Shi asked in confusion.
Chi Jinjin came back to her senses and said awkwardly, "No, well, the sun was too strong and my head was a little confused."
"Are you getting heatstroke?" Tang Shi asked worriedly. He quickly pulled her back to her seat and handed her a bottle of Huoxiang Zhengqi water from his desk. "Thankfully, we've been training these past few days, and our coach was worried we'd get heatstroke, so he gave me a few boxes. Drink it up!"
"No need, I'll just lie down for a while." Chi Jinjin quickly lay down on the table, fearing that Tang Shi would find out that what he had just said was false.
After the class, Tang Shi seemed to have lost his soul and immediately fell asleep on the table.
Chi Jinjin stood up, left her seat and walked out of the classroom. She hurried up to the fourth floor, but stopped immediately at the corner. Because she was running too fast, she slid forward a little.
She smoothed her hair, lowered her head to tidy up her messy clothes, then took a deep breath and walked forward as if nothing had happened. She passed by his window with an expressionless face, but Nan Xuqiu was all in her peripheral vision.
He was looking at the test paper on the table with a slightly frown on his face, the black pen spinning between his fingers.
She was grateful for the bright sunshine, which allowed her shadow to "pass by" his test paper. Does that also count as "passing by" his gaze?
Chi Jinjin walked forward happily, but the smile on her face could no longer be hidden and bloomed on her face.
The sunlight hit the number on the door of his classroom, and the golden numbers sparkled in the sunlight. "130" was the clearest house number in Chi Jinjin's entire high school memory.
Opening the lemonade means summer has officially arrived. The wind blows the curtains on the windowsill with some heat, rippling the hustle and bustle of the campus. Wild flowers bloom amid the chirping of cicadas, and the path is filled with the fragrance of gardenias.
Chi Jinjin came out of the dormitory building with a book in her arms. On her way to the classroom, she suddenly heard a voice beside her ear—"Nan Xuqiu!"
Chi Jinjin turned around immediately, but there was no sign of him behind her.
She turned her head, wondering if she had heard it wrong, but the moment she looked up, she really saw Nan Xuqiu. He came out of the teaching building, followed by Song Ci, and they were walking towards her.
Song Ci was talking as he walked, and Nan Xuqiu was listening quietly with a faint smile.
Chi Jinjin hugged the book tightly in her arms, walked forward slowly with her head down, every step accompanied by the surging undercurrent in her heart. She bit her lower lip and passed him silently, but turned back the next moment to look at his back, the back that could be recognized at a glance even among thousands of people. She hoped that he would turn back, but was also afraid that he would turn back.
They had no connection, he didn't even know her name, but this feeling grew wildly like weeds. Summer's thoughts were hidden in the green shade, but when the wind blew, the thoughts were in turmoil...
It was break time again, and Chi Jinjin "passed by" Nan Xuqiu's window again. He was lying on the table as if he had fallen asleep. The wind blew up the test paper on the table and hit his face, which was unexpectedly cute.
Chi Jinjin smiled secretly, but when she looked up and looked forward, the smile on her face suddenly froze.
Song Ci was actually in the aisle, and by some strange coincidence, her eyes collided with his!
Chi Jinjin quickly avoided his sight, lowered her head and walked quickly past him.
Song Ci leaned against the railing and snorted coldly as he watched her hurriedly run into the bathroom.
Chi Jinjin hid at the door of the toilet and looked out secretly. Song Ci was still in the aisle. A fat boy ran to him in a hurry and handed the water in his hand to Song Ci. He himself was sweating profusely, and most of the back of his school uniform was wet.
Chi Jinjin heard from Tang Shi that the boy's name was Gong Sheng, and he had excellent academic performance and ranked second in the whole grade.
"Fatty, can you be faster next time? Do you want to kill me with thirst?" Song Ci scolded.
Gong Sheng nodded and bowed and apologized to him repeatedly.
"Okay, get out of here. There won't be a next time." Song Ci kicked him and said with disgust.
When the bell rang, Chi Jinjin walked out of the bathroom with her head held high, then quickly ran down the stairs next to her.
Chi Jinjin returned to the classroom.
Tang Shi asked in confusion, "Jinjin, why do you keep going to the fourth floor lately?"
"Four, the toilet on the fourth floor is not crowded." Chi Jinjin replied with a wandering look.
"oh."
Tang Shi turned his head to look at the teacher at the podium and did not doubt Chi Jinjin's answer.
Chi Jinjin felt relieved.
After lunch in the afternoon, Tang Shi went to training. Chi Jinjin was alone and planned to go back to the classroom to review what she had learned during the day, but she had to go to the guard room first to help Tang Shi get the things she bought online.
After getting her things, Chi Jinjin came out of the guard room and suddenly heard someone calling her. She turned around and saw a girl standing outside the door.
The school gate is closed from Monday to Friday, and people from outside the school are not allowed to enter and can only stand outside.
Chi Jinjin pointed at herself and asked the girl in confusion, "Are you... calling me?"
"Yes, classmate, come here." said the girl.
Chi Jinjin hesitated for a moment and walked over slowly.
"Is there anything wrong?" Chi Jinjin asked through the iron gate.
The girl said, "Can you please take this to someone?"
She handed Chi Jinjin a folded piece of letter paper.
Chi Jinjin thought that since it was just a letter and she couldn't come in, she might as well do her a small favor.
So she nodded in agreement, took the letter, and asked, "Classmate, who should I give this to?"
"Song Ci from Class 134." the girl replied.
Chi Jinjin felt uneasy when she heard this. She said in surprise, "You...you want to give it to Song Ci?"
"Yes, please, classmate." The girl said with a smile.
Chi Jinjin said hurriedly, "No, no, you should give it to him yourself. I can't give it to him."
"I can't get in. Didn't you just promise to help me send it off? Classmate, please help me. Just give it to him. You don't have to say or do anything." The girl begged.
"No, no, no. If it were someone else, I could help you, but not Song Ci." Chi Jinjin refused repeatedly. She saw Song Ci every day and had no time to hide from him. Now he wanted her to appear in front of him. Wasn't that asking her to die?
"Classmate, I'm sorry, you should find someone else." Chi Jinjin wanted to return the letter to her.
The girl said, "Hey, I've been here for a long time, and I only see you alone. Please help me. This is for you. Consider it my thank you gift."
She stuffed a hundred yuan into Chi Jinjin's hand, then turned and ran away, not forgetting to add, "Please, please!"
“Classmate! Classmate!!”
Chi Jinjin wanted to chase after her, but the tightly closed iron gate blocked her way. She could only hold onto the iron railings and shout at the girl outside, but the girl didn't even turn back, got on the bus and left.
"Classmate, come back..."
Chi Jinjin was so upset that she wanted to cry while holding the letter. She originally just wanted to help out a little, but she didn't expect to be handed a hot potato.
During the evening self-study session, Chi Jinjin had no intention of studying at all. She kept thinking about what to do with the letter in her desk. Looking at the ancient poems in front of her to recite, she couldn't help but think of the ancient ministers submitting memorials to the emperor. It was as if she was submitting a memorial to the "emperor" of Song Ci.
what to do……
She hasn't gone yet, and now she's a little scared.
Chi Jinjin rubbed his head irritably.
Tang Shi next to him suddenly laughed out loud.
Chi Jinjin turned her head and looked at her blankly.
Tang Shi held up the mirror and smiled at her, "Jinjin, look at how you styled your hair."
Chi Jinjin looked in the mirror and saw that she had a messy hair.
She quickly grasped it more smoothly.
"Jinjin, is this ancient poem so difficult to memorize that even you are so troubled?" Tang Shi glanced at her textbook.
Chi Jinjin answered irrelevantly, "It's difficult... so difficult..."
She sighed deeply and considered whether to ask Tang Shi to help her deliver the letter, but she quickly dismissed the idea. How could she ask Tang Shi for such a dangerous matter? Forget it, she would solve the trouble herself. It was just a letter to be delivered, and she would leave after delivering it. It was no big deal.
Yes! That’s right!
Chi Jinjin sorted out her messy mood, took the book and started studying seriously.
The next morning
After the second class, Chi Jinjin took out the letter from the desk and walked up to the fourth floor hesitantly, as if going to the execution ground.
