Chapter 26 Green
"Senior, I've made my choice." Chi Jinjin pushed the menu back to his hand.
Nan Xuqiu took a look and said to the waiter beside him, "Add two more steaks."
"Okay, then may I ask, miss, how well done would you like it?" the waiter asked Chi Jinjin.
Chi Jinjin had never eaten steak before and didn't know how to answer for a moment.
Nan Xuqiu said, "I want it well-done."
Hearing his words, Chi Jinjin quickly agreed and said, "Me too."
"Okay, please wait a moment." The waiter took the menu and turned to leave.
After leaving for a while, another waiter brought two drinks.
Nan Xuqiu saw one of the cups pushed in front of Chi Jinjin and said, "You just had popcorn, drink this, it's good for relieving the greasiness."
Chi Jinjin was stunned. She really had eaten too much popcorn, and her mouth was so sweet.
"Thank you." Chi Jinjin took a sip. The drink had a slightly sour taste and the fragrance of mint. She felt a lot better after drinking it.
After a while, the dish was brought over. It was much smaller than she had imagined. It was a small plate, so much that each person could finish it in one bite.
At this time, two steaks were also brought over.
But Chi Jinjin looked at the tools beside her, but didn't know how to use them.
I felt a little embarrassed for a moment.
Nan Xuqiu glanced at her, then turned to the waiter next to him and said, "Hello, can you tell me how to use these?"
"Sure." The waiter Nan Xuqiu introduced the usage of each tool one by one.
Chi Jinjin listened quietly, and the awkward situation was resolved in an instant.
She followed Nan Xuqiu's example, cut a piece of steak and put it into her mouth.
"It tastes good, right?" Nan Xuqiu asked.
Chi Jinjin nodded and smiled slightly.
Nan Xuqiu chatted with her while cutting steak. "You said this was your first time watching a movie. Have you and Tang Xuemei never seen a movie in this city before?"
"No." Chi Jinjin replied.
"So what do you usually do?"
Chi Jinjin thought for a moment and said, "Let's go shopping together, eat and drink."
"Eating and drinking?" Nan Xuqiu said with a smile, "So eating and drinking is your common hobby?"
Chi Jinjin nodded and said, "Tang Shi and I are both absolute foodies. We love eating and drinking the most."
"Besides eating and drinking, what else do you like to do? Watch TV series together?" Nan Xuqiu put a piece of beef into his mouth and continued to ask while eating.
Chi Jinjin shook her head, swallowed what she had in her mouth, and said, "Tang Shi doesn't like watching TV, but she likes football games."
Nan Xuqiu nodded, as if thinking about something, and then asked her, "How long have you and Tang Xuemei known each other? I feel like you have a good relationship."
Chi Jinjin replied, "She and I were classmates in junior high school. She was my deskmate throughout junior high school."
"I can see that you care about her a lot."
Chi Jinjin nodded and said affirmatively, "She is my most precious friend."
"Why is she so important?" Nan Xuqiu asked.
Chi Jinjin explained, "When I was in junior high, I was very timid. The boys in my class always liked to tease me, and Tang Shi would help me get rid of them. One time, the seniors stopped me after school and tried to extort money from me, and Tang Shi got into a fight with them. You could say that it was Tang Shi who protected me during junior high."
"So that's how it is." Nan Xuqiu understood and seemed to understand Chi Jinjin's thoughts very well.
Chi Jinjin looked at Nan Xuqiu and couldn't help but want to ask him a question that had puzzled her for a long time.
"Senior, um...can I ask you a more private question?" Chi Jinjin carefully sought his consent.
Nan Xuqiu nodded and said, "Okay, ask."
"I want to know, Senior, why are you friends with Senior Song?" Chi Jinjin couldn't understand and said, "It feels like you two are not from the same world."
Nan Xuqiu replied, "In this respect, I am very similar to you and Tang Shi."
"Like?" Chi Jinjin was puzzled and didn't understand what he meant.
Nan Xuqiu said, "When I was little, I didn't like to talk and didn't have any friends around me. He was the first friend who was willing to play with me. It was only when I was in junior high school that Ji Yang joined me."
"I know that in your eyes, Song Ci is an absolute tyrant and a devil." Nan Xu Qiuyan said, "But in fact, he is not as bad as you think. He is a pitiful person."
"Pitiful?"
Chi Jinjin really couldn't associate the word "pitiful" with Song Dynasty poetry. He had everything handed to him and spent the whole day at school showing off and bullying his classmates. He really couldn't be described as "pitiful".
But Senior Nan actually said he was pitiful?
This made Chi Jinjin even more confused, and she wanted to know why he said that.
Nan Xuqiu slowly explained to her, "Do you know what left-behind children are?"
"I know, there are many in my village." Chi Jinjin said.
Nan Xuqiu said, "In fact, Song Ci can be considered a left-behind child. His parents abandoned him in China when he was only a few months old for business reasons. He lost his grandparents very early on, and he was raised by a nanny since he was a child. However, the nanny in their family was a two-faced person. On the surface, she took good care of him, but in fact, she was always controlling him and torturing him in private. Later, I secretly installed a camera in his house and captured evidence of his nanny's violence against him, so I drove the nanny away. From beginning to end, his parents never returned to China to see him. Even when they knew about the nanny's situation, they just asked someone else to come and solve it. From then on, he developed a character that would deal with everything with violence."
Chi Jinjin didn't know what to say for a moment. She was very surprised. She didn't expect that Song Ci had experienced so many things.
She thought that a child like him would not have any worries or pains, but she didn't expect it to be like this. Every family has its own problems.
"Junior Xiaochi." Nan Xuqiu suddenly called her.
Chi Jinjin came back to his senses.
Nan Xuqiu laughed and said, "There's something on the corner of your mouth."
Chi Jinjin quickly grabbed the tissue next to her and wiped it, then smiled awkwardly at Nan Xuqiu.
After dinner, the world outside had already changed color, and the sky was filled with stars. Nan Xu Qiuchi returned to school, and he was still very gentlemanly and opened the car door for her, letting her get in first.
Then he walked around the front of the car and returned to the driver's seat.
Chi Jinjin looked out the window, apparently looking at the scenery outside, but actually looking at Nan Xuqiu's reflection.
She felt that the whole day was unreal, like a vague dream, but if it was a dream, Chi Jinjin really hoped to wake up later.
After a while, the car arrived at the school gate.
"Be careful on your way back." Nan Xuqiu opened the car door for her again.
Chi Jinjin nodded, unbuckled his seatbelt, and said to him, "Senior, send me a message to tell me how much money A will give you later."
"What money?" Nan Xuqiu asked.
Chi Jinjin said as a matter of course, "It's money for us to go out together, for movies and meals."
Nan Xuqiu suddenly understood and said with a smile, "No need, I specially invited you today."
"This won't do. I..."
"Okay." Nan Xuqiu suddenly reached out and rubbed her head, smiling, "It's settled. Go back to the dormitory early, it's almost curfew."
Chi Jinjin then remembered and looked at her phone, and sure enough, there were only twenty minutes left.
"Well...that's fine. Thank you, senior. Goodbye." Chi Jinjin got out of the car, closed the door carefully, and waved goodbye to him.
Nan Xuqiu nodded and smiled slightly.
Chi Jinjin turned and walked towards the school.
Senior, he just touched my head...
When Chi Jinjin thought about it, she couldn't help but smile happily towards the sky.
I felt happier than if I had been first in the grade.
When I got out of the dormitory elevator, I saw Tang Shi head-on. It seemed like she had been waiting for me there for a long time.
"You're back?" Tang Shi leaned against the wall, hugged her elbows, and said with a meaningful smile, "How was your day with Senior Nan?"
"How do you know?" Chi Jinjin was surprised. She didn't tell Tang Shi that she was with Nan Xuqiu.
Tang Shi said, "I don't want to know either, but just now I accidentally saw a familiar figure coming out of Senior Nan's car."
"Chi Jinjin, you're being mean!" Tang Shi walked up to her and said in a deliberately angry tone, "You asked Senior Nan out and didn't even tell me. You hid it from me."
"I didn't make an appointment. Senior Nan invited me out on a whim. And we didn't stay the whole day, just half a day." Chi Jinjin replied.
"It's been so long, and you haven't even sent me a message. How could I not have known before that you're such a friendless person?" Tang Shi pinched her face and asked curiously, "How is it going, what's going on between you two?"
"What's going on?" Chi Jinjin didn't understand what she meant for a moment, but after realizing it, she hurriedly explained, "No, Tang Shi, you're overthinking it. We're just going out for some simple fun."
"Oh...what are they playing?" Tang Shi asked.
Chi Jinjin replied, "I watched a movie and had a meal."
"Watch a movie? Eat?" Tang Shi analyzed, "Why would Senior Nan invite you to watch a movie and eat? Does that mean he wants to pursue you?"
When Chi Jinjin heard this, she quickly covered her mouth with one hand and said, "Tang Shi, you, don't talk nonsense, how is it possible."
With that, she ran into her dormitory with a red face.
After washing up, Chi Jinjin lay on the bed, feeling a little insomniac, and kept thinking about what Tang Shi had just said.
Yes, senior, you are fine, why do you want to treat me to dinner and a movie?
And touched my head...
When Chi Jinjin thought of him touching her head, she shyly hid herself in the quilt and smiled foolishly.
On Monday, after Tang poetry get out of class, I walked upstairs humming a tune, but unexpectedly I encountered Song poetry.
The word "bad luck" suddenly came to Tang Shi's mind.
She pretended not to see him and tried to walk past him.
Unexpectedly, Song Ci suddenly grabbed her hand.
"What are you doing?" Tang Shi immediately became alert.
Song Ci handed her the box with a bow in her hand and said, "Here, this is for you."
"What is that?" Tang Shi was puzzled, thinking, it couldn't be a prank.
"Take the classroom and take it apart and you'll know." Song Ci said.
Tang Shi shook his hand away and said, "I don't care who you are, I don't want you."
"No, you, you have to take it." Song Ci stuffed it into her hand.
Tang Shi struggled and said, "You are such a weird person. I don't want it, but you still force it on me. I said I don't want it!"
"You must take it, you must hold it for me." Song Ci said stubbornly.
So the two of them kept pushing each other back and forth.
Finally, Song Ci stuffed the bag into her arms and ran upstairs quickly. Tang Shi was too lazy to chase her, so he had to take it to the classroom.
"This Song Ci, is he crazy? He has to give me something?" Tang Shi really couldn't understand it. He threw the gift on the table and complained to Chi Jinjin.
"What did he give you?" Chi Jinjin reached out to touch it.
Tang Shi quickly grabbed her hand, pulled her away, and said, "Jinjin, be careful, this thing is a scam, stay away from it."
Chi Jinjin thought about it and it made sense, so she moved further away from him.
Tang Shi took out a ruler from the desk and opened the box carefully as if defusing a bomb.
I didn't expect that the box contained a box of cookies.
"Is there anything wrong with this biscuit?" Tang Shi was a little hesitant to eat it.
Chi Jinjin noticed that there was a letter hidden under the biscuits.
Tang Shi took it out, opened the envelope, and opened the letter inside.
"Tang Shi, I think we have a lot of green destiny. Otherwise, we wouldn't have met each other again and again. Maybe this is the green destiny God has given us both..." Tang Shi was confused and couldn't understand, "What the hell is green destiny?"
Chi Jinjin thought for a moment and said, "Is it possible that he wanted to write about fate?"
"..." Tang Shi continued to read the following content and was surprised to find out that he actually wrote a love letter to her!
Chi Jinjin couldn't believe it, "He, is he confessing to you?"
The little bully actually likes Tang poetry? He even made her a box of cookies?
Chi Jinjin felt like she had heard some ridiculous news, but this was what was written in Song Ci's love letter.
"This guy, his brain is really out of whack." Tang Shi closed the letter and stared at the cookies on the table in a daze, thinking to herself, that guy actually knows how to cook and make cookies, it's incredible...
"Tang Shi, what are you going to do now?" Chi Jinjin asked.
Tang Shi came to his senses, threw the letter back into the box, and said, "Whatever, who cares? He likes me, that's his business, it's none of my business. I won't like an idiot who wrote "缘" as "绿".
"Forget it, let's not talk about him anymore." Tang Shi said excitedly, "This weekend is my birthday. You can't slack off on your studies. Give me one day off!"
"Okay, I will definitely accompany you. How are you planning to celebrate your birthday?" Chi Jinjin asked.
Tang Shi took out two amusement park tickets from her bag and said, "Let's go play here. I heard it's newly opened. Let's try all the rides!"
"Okay, you are the most important on your birthday, I will risk my life to accompany you!" Chi Jinjin patted his chest and said like a hero ready to die.
Tang Shi smiled with satisfaction and said, "That's pretty good!"
