Chapter 23 Lost and Found Notice
Nan Xuqiu also looked over. He thought she was looking at the tree and sighed, "The cherry blossoms are gone."
"Yes, but we will be back next year, right?" Chi Jinjin said.
Nan Xuqiu nodded.
Chi Jinjin suddenly frowned and looked around.
"What's wrong?" Nan Xuqiu asked in confusion.
Chi Jinjin asked, "Senior, did you hear any strange noises?"
"Strange sound?" Nan Xuqiu listened carefully and found that there was indeed a strange sound, very subtle.
The two of them followed the sound carefully and came to the grass nearby. Chi Jinjin squatted down and pushed aside the grass, only to find that there was a nest of baby birds inside. The nest was very small, and the baby birds were even smaller, but about the size of a thumb, and their eyes had not yet opened. When they heard their voices, the baby birds cried even louder, with their mouths open.
Chi Jinjin looked up and guessed, "It must have fallen from the tree next to it. There was a strong wind last night."
Nan Xuqiu also slowly squatted down and reached out to take them.
"Senior, no!" Chi Jinjin subconsciously grabbed his hand with both hands. Feeling the warmth from his hand, Chi Jinjin quickly let go and explained incoherently, "It's just... that... if the bird touches it, it will be contaminated with human scent, and the mother bird will not recognize it."
"Really? That's impossible?" Nan Xuqiu suddenly became playful and deliberately reached out to touch it.
Chi Jinjin immediately grabbed his hand again and said anxiously, "It's true, senior!"
"Oh." Nan Xuqiu laughed, "Well, that's just my lack of common sense."
Chi Jinjin breathed a sigh of relief when she saw that he finally believed that she would no longer touch the bird, but she immediately realized that she was still holding his hand in her palm. His hand was very big, and she could barely hold it with both hands.
Looking into his eyes, Chi Jinjin quickly let go of him again, her cheeks gradually turning red. Fortunately, the summer had tanned her skin so dark that it was not easy to see.
She pulled out a few leaves and placed them on the edge of the bird's nest.
"What do you want to do?" Nan Xuqiu asked curiously.
Chi Jinjin said, "I want to send them up into the trees. It's too dangerous on the ground. The sun is too strong, and there might be predators."
As she spoke, she had already picked up the bird's nest.
"Let me do it. The tree is so tall, it's dangerous." Nan Xuqiu suggested.
Chi Jinjin said confidently, "It's okay. I grew up in the countryside and I'm great at climbing trees. The tree I climbed when I was eight was much taller than this."
"But, Senior Nan, can you help me keep an eye on the situation? I'm afraid of being discovered by the dean, and I don't want to write a self-criticism." Chi Jinjin said with a smile.
Nan Xuqiu nodded.
She held the bird's nest with confidence, slowly climbed up the tree, found a relatively safe place, and put the bird's nest there.
Chi Jinjin came down carefully, and when it was no longer high, she jumped directly down, patted the sawdust on her palms, and said happily, "Okay, mother bird, they should be able to catch them."
She turned her head to look at Nan Xuqiu, but Nan Xuqiu suddenly took a step closer to her, and Chi Jinjin's heart skipped a beat.
He reached out and took a leaf from her hair.
Only then did Chi Jinjin realize that there were a lot of leaves on her head, so she quickly looked up and smoothed her hair, smiling awkwardly.
"Um...senior, I still have things to pack, so I'll leave first." Chi Jinjin said to him, quietly clutching the hem of her clothes.
Nan Xuqiu said, "Okay, goodbye, Xiaochi."
"Goodbye." Chi Jinjin waved at him, turned and left the cherry blossom forest with a bright smile on his face and unusually light steps, jumping like a lively little rabbit.
"Go up, go up, there are three in the room!"
That night, Tang Shi was playing a game intensely in bed. After finally annihilating a team, her gaming friend suddenly asked curiously, "Kitty, why haven't I seen you duo-queuing with your rich Ambition brother in King of Glory recently?"
"He's dead." Tang Shi felt annoyed when he heard this and said casually.
The next day, classes started as usual. Tang Shi hated the first noon exercise at school because the principal, dean of studies, and others would give speeches on the stage one by one, just like the opening ceremony, and it was even longer.
After finally waiting for the break, Tang Shi took Chi Jinjin's hand and walked towards the teaching building.
"Tang poetry!"
Suddenly, the voice of Song Ci came from behind.
Chi Jinjin and Tang Shi suddenly stopped and slowly turned around to look over.
Song Ci, Nan Xuqiu and Ji Yang came over. Chi Jinjin smiled at Nan Xuqiu, but when she saw Song Ci, the corners of her mouth dropped several times.
"What do you want me to do?" Tang Shi said fearlessly with his hands in his pockets.
Song Ci asked with a dark face, "Did you tell everyone on the Internet that I was dead?"
"Anyway, there is no difference between you being alive and being dead." Tang Shi stepped forward and stomped hard on Song Ci.
Song Ci cried out in pain.
"Jinjin, let's go." Tang Shi pulled Chi Jinjin over and walked upstairs proudly.
Chi Jinjin looked back at Nan Xuqiu, and Nan Xuqiu smiled faintly at her.
She quickly withdrew her gaze, but her heart felt as sweet as if it had fallen into a honey jar.
During evening study, Chi Jinjin was memorizing vocabulary words when Tang Shi suddenly asked, "It seems like we're going to be divided into classes in our second year of high school. Jinjin, are you going to choose liberal arts or science?"
Chi Jinjin thought about it and replied, "Let's do it."
"I knew it." Tang Shi looked as if he had seen through everything.
After a brief chat, Chi Jinjin continued to write words, while Tang Shi lowered his head and secretly played with his mobile phone.
In the villa.
Ji Yang smiled helplessly at Song Ci, "Look at you, you can't beat her in a fight, and you can't win even if you scold her, so why do you always want to provoke Tang Xuemei?"
"None of your business." Song Ci replied unhappily, and looked at his phone boredly. He hadn't said a word to Tang Shi since they broke up, but he suddenly found that without her, the games on his phone were no longer fun, and he felt like something was missing for a moment.
Ji Yang, however, had a look of complete understanding. He smiled and asked, "Admit it, do you like Tang Xuemei?"
"Bullshit, bullshit, I don't like that kind of rude woman!" Song Ci said immediately, but his eyes were wandering.
"Then Ji Yang, you can go after him." Nan Xuqiu suddenly said.
"Huh?" Ji Yang looked at Nan Xuqiu in confusion, but soon understood what he meant and said, "Yes, since you don't like her, then I will pursue her. I quite like Tang Xuemei. To be honest, I haven't pursued this type of girl before. Well, I can give it a try."
"Go chase your mother! Just try chasing one!" Song Ci immediately sat up from the sofa and said angrily.
Nan Xuqiu said with a smile, "You're being a bit overbearing. You don't like someone, but you don't allow others to pursue you."
"Who said I don't like it!" Song Ci blurted out.
Nan Xuqiu and Ji Yang looked at each other, smiled and said nothing.
Song Ci then realized that she had been tricked by Nan Xuqiu, and her face immediately turned red.
"Oh, you're blushing." Ji Yang laughed, "You've really never been in love before, a pure and innocent boy."
"Get lost!" Song Ci's face turned even redder.
Ji Yang walked over to him and sat down, put his arm around his shoulders, and said, "If you like someone, then you like him. Why would a man be awkward? Or are you just inexperienced and don't know how to pursue a girl? Don't worry, since this is your first time liking a girl, Lao Nan and I will help you pursue her together!"
"Whatever, whatever." Song Ci said indifferently.
But when he was sleeping alone in bed, looking at Tang Shi's profile picture and thinking about the things that had happened before, he couldn't help laughing.
Song Ci looked at the finger she had bitten and murmured, "What a kitten, a wild little wild cat."
The school held a commendation meeting on Tuesday.
Listening to the boring and lengthy speech of the teacher on the stage, Tang Shi felt drowsy. However, he couldn't play with his phone or walk around, so he could only play with the paper in his hand out of boredom.
After the principal and teachers finished their speeches, awards were presented to the top ten students in the grade.
When the teacher called out Chi Jinjin's name, Tang Shi came back to her senses and quickly applauded excitedly, as if she had won a prize.
Chi Jinjin walked up to the podium, took the certificate from the teacher, and bowed to them one by one.
Then stand aside and wait for others, because in the end all the students who received the awards would take a group photo together.
Soon the three words "Nan Xuqiu" rang in Chi Jinjin's ears.
There was thunderous applause from the audience.
Chi Jinjin turned her head and saw him slowly walking up to the podium. Like her, he took the certificate handed to him by the teacher with both hands and bowed respectfully to the teacher and principal.
Then he walked to Chi Jinjin's side. Chi Jinjin didn't dare to look at him again. She withdrew her gaze and stood upright looking ahead, but he was all in her peripheral vision.
When it came to the photo session, Chi Jinjin hesitated for a long time, but mustered up her courage and slowly stood beside him. The sunlight shone from the front, and the shadows behind her were already intertwined.
She foolishly thought, does this mean that she has been side by side with him for once?
Chi Jinjin stood there cautiously, feeling both nervous and happy. She was happier than if she had won an award.
She felt that the most regrettable thing was that she was born too late. If she had been born earlier, would she have had the opportunity to be classmates with Nan Xuqiu?
It would be impossible for her to take a graduation photo with him in this life.
Chi Jinjin looked at the camera in front of her and thought, let's just treat this as a graduation photo, which can make up for this eternal regret.
"Come on, look at the camera and smile," the teacher shouted.
Chi Jinjin smiled at the camera, but when he pressed the shutter, she looked at Nan Xuqiu.
After receiving the award, Chi Jinjin found the teacher who took the photo and bought the photo from him. She wanted to keep it as a souvenir, as this was her first photo with Nan Xuqiu...
On Friday, Tang Shi and Chi Jinjin walked out of the store.
"Jinjin, these spicy strips are delicious. Would you like one?" Tang Shi asked while eating.
Chi Jinjin shook her head, "No need."
They walked towards the teaching building together. When they passed the basketball court, they suddenly heard Song Ci shout, "Lao Nan, pass the ball to me!"
Chi Jinjin immediately turned her head and saw that Nan Xuqiu was indeed there. He was playing basketball with Song Ci and the others.
He stood against the light, as if walking out of the light, and his short black hair seemed to turn into a cold brown because of the light.
Song Ci dabbed the ball, took a three-step shot, and made an accurate shot.
"It's this guy again, Jinjin, let's go quickly, otherwise something bad will happen again." Tang Shi pulled Chi Jinjin and left quickly.
Song Ci turned around and saw them leaving in a hurry.
During the evening self-study session, Chi Jinjin always felt that the classmates in the class were a little restless, and they all seemed to be communicating about something.
After returning to the dormitory, Chi Jinjin turned on her cell phone, which started ringing non-stop. She quickly turned down the volume and opened QQ. She didn't know what happened, but the school group suddenly exploded with messages.
Chi Jinjin clicked on it and scrolled up, only to find out that Nan Xuqiu had lost a ring today and offered a reward of 500,000 yuan for anyone who found it.
ring……
Chi Jinjin had some impression that Nan Xuqiu wore it every day and only took it off when he played basketball. It can be seen how important this ring is to Nan Xuqiu.
Senior Nan must be very anxious.
Chi Jinjin thought about it.
The next day, Chi Jinjin saw Nan Xuqiu in the crowd. He didn't look very well, with his brows drooping and his mood down.
But there was still no news about the ring. Although all the students in the school were looking for it, they still found nothing.
Nan Xuqiu sat on the sofa with his head down, looking depressed.
Ji Yang comforted him, "Don't worry, Lao Nan, we will find it."
"I'm leaving first." Nan Xuqiu stood up and left the restaurant in a depressed mood.
He came to the rooftop of the library alone and leaned against the railing in silence.
The wind blew into his coat and blew his hems.
Chi Jinjin also helped Nan Xuqiu look for the ring, but she found nothing after several days. She searched everywhere she could, including the place where he played basketball that day and the grass and bushes.
It seems that it didn't fall here...
Chi Jinjin was also feeling very lost. Every time she met Nan Xuqiu these days, he was an unhappy Nan Xuqiu. She had never seen him like this before. There was no life in him at all.
Chi Jinjin sighed and decided to look somewhere else.
But suddenly something dazzled his eyes.
Chi Jinjin looked at a sewer next to the basketball court and found that it was glowing.
She walked over, squatted down and took a look. It turned out to be just a piece of broken glass. It was reflecting light because the sunlight was shining on it.
But she suddenly saw Nan Xuqiu's ring next to the mirror!
Chi Jinjin was overjoyed. She didn't expect that she had found it by accident.
But there is a ditch cover on the sewer, which is made of cement and cannot be removed at all.
Chi Jinjin stood up and broke off a branch from the side, wanting to hang it up.
But I couldn't hang it up no matter what I did, and it kept getting further and further away.
Chi Jinjin was distressed, thinking that it would be great if she had a magnet or something.
She thought about it and tried to put her hand into the hole again. There were three holes in the ditch cover, but they were very small and she could barely put her hand in.
But she seemed to have found hope.
She lay down without caring about her image and tried her best to put her hand in, but the edge of the hole was very rough and kept rubbing against her skin. She couldn't put her hand in even though she was wearing a coat.
Chi Jinjin could only bear it. Fortunately, she finally reached the ring, quickly grasped it in the palm of her hand, and then pulled her hand back.
