Chapter 25 Search

Chapter 25 Search

The door was pushed open, and Zi Su walked carefully in front of it with a lamp in hand.

Jiang Qingning walked towards the wall and vaguely felt that he seemed to see a black mass.

"Miss, there seems to be someone lying there!" Zi Su exclaimed.

"Why is there an arrow stuck in his back?"

Zi Su was shocked and raised her hand to protect Jiang Qingning and move him back.

His heart was beating so fast and a strong smell of blood lingered in his nostrils. Jiang Qingning quickly took the long lamp and walked in. He squatted down and looked at the face under the black veil.

Jiang Qingning reached out to feel her breath, and after feeling the faint breath, he subconsciously breathed a sigh of relief.

"She's still alive. Help her in."

Zi Su stood behind her and advised, "Miss, let's go and report to the authorities. This man is dressed as an assassin. Maybe he is the reason why the Tongzhi didn't come to see you."

Jiang Qingning ignored him and raised his hand to take off her veil. What he saw was a young face with blood at the corner of her mouth.

Zi Su squatted down in astonishment, extremely shocked: "Miss, how come this person looks so similar to you?!"

My mind raced through it.

Jiang Qingning had a bad feeling in his heart.

She quickly put down the long lamp and anxiously raised her hand to support the man's arm.

"Zi Su, quickly bring the person in and have Aunt Zhang bring some hot water and medicine."

"good!"

Zi Su quickly stood up and helped the man.

Jiang Qingning looked back at the grass with a serious expression: "After calling Aunt Zhang, restore this place to its original state. Then check the walls and the outside of the house to see if there are any bloodstains. If there are, clean them up!"

"Don't worry, Miss. I won't leave any trace."

Zi Su was frightened and nodded repeatedly.

Half an hour later.

Nanny Zhang went to the basin beside her to wash her hands. The room was filled with a strong smell of blood.

She sighed and walked to Jiang Qingning's side, trying to persuade him with concern.

"Miss, this man is so badly injured, with arrow wounds on his left shoulder and back. Perhaps he was assassinated from a certain master's house.

This is how she accidentally stumbled into our yard. I know that since you saved her, you must have your own ideas, but in the end..."

Jiang Qingning sat on a round stool beside him, his face as calm as water.

Hearing this, she stood up and walked to the bedside. The woman was lying on the bed, covering her face.

"Mammy, please help me turn her over. It must be uncomfortable to sleep on her back. Put a cushion behind her left shoulder. It will relieve some of the pain."

Jiang Qingning raised his hand and carefully supported her shoulders. Nanny Zhang wanted to say something but stopped herself, swallowing her words of advice and carefully turning the person over.

Nanny Zhang reached in with the cushion and stuffed it in. When she looked up and saw her face, she stepped back in shock.

"Miss, this!"

Nanny Zhang covered her lips in shock, her heart surging as if with huge waves.

Jiang Qingning sat beside the bed, stroking her sleeping face. When she raised her eyes, they were like stars, with tears lingering in her eyes.

"Mammy, does it look like that?"

Nanny Zhang quickly stepped forward and opened all the windows for ventilation.

"How could this be... Could it really be... This person looks so young, she's only about fourteen or fifteen, but how could she be so badly injured?"

Jiang Qingning shook his head. "I don't know. She was already like this when I found her outside the window. She didn't look like she was being pursued for revenge. Her sword was stained with blood, and it looked like she was going to assassinate someone."

"But I'm sure we'll know everything tomorrow morning." Jiang Qingning said with a serious expression.

"Then these stolen goods must be cleaned up. I will burn them all right now!"

Nanny Zhang and the other two hurriedly carried the things downstairs, taking out all the blood-stained cloth strips and swords, as well as a basin of blood, to clean up.

The room was quiet and Jiang Qingning looked at the man's expression for a long time.

She came to her senses, walked to the incense burner, lit incense, and walked around the room several times to remove the smell.

"Cough cough cough..." Jiang Qingning covered his lips and coughed lightly.

Zi Su ran over quickly and took the incense burner. "Miss, what are you doing? It's a chilly night, and you're not wearing anything thicker. Is the Second Miss okay?"

"Is everything settled?" Jiang Qingning asked her with a sidelong glance.

"Don't worry, Miss. Those who are calling out are trustworthy people. There is indeed some blood outside.

But we've cleaned up all the bloodstains around here, so no one will ever find any clues." Zi Su nodded firmly.

Jiang Qingning felt relieved and walked into the house: "Tell Mammy to go to the kitchen and make a pot of brown sugar ginger soup, and then kill two chickens to stew it. If you don't understand, don't ask, just go and talk to Mammy."

Zi Su put the incense burner away. Although she didn't understand, she did as she was told.

"Mammy is a doctor, so she naturally knows more than me. Don't worry, young lady. I'll go right away."

late at night.

“Bang, bang, bang!!!”

"Open the door! Open the door quickly! Is anyone there?"

A large group of people appeared outside Ning Pavilion, and the leader of the imperial guards stepped forward and knocked on the door violently.

"Who is it?"

Nanny Zhang opened the door while wearing her coat and yawning.

"A city-wide search for assassins! When did you move in? Who owns this house? Did anyone suspicious enter tonight?"

The imperial guards stormed in forcefully and forced Nanny Zhang to retreat.

She shrank back to the side of the leader of the imperial guards, who then divided into two teams and quickly entered the palace to begin searching.

Nanny Zhang cried out and hurried forward, "Sir, my master bought this house five days ago. Four days ago, with the help of the Jingzhao Prefecture's Deputy Magistrate and Prince Qin, he cleaned it up and moved in. As for this suspicious person, he hasn't seen any."

The leader of the Imperial Guards' expression softened. "So he's a good friend of Prince Qin and the Vice Magistrate. Tonight, after leaving the palace, the Earl of Anping was assassinated and in imminent danger. The Emperor was furious and sent us here to search for the assassin. It wasn't intentional to disturb your master's peace."

Nanny Zhang extended a purse and said with a smile, "Your Excellency is naturally here for official business. My master will understand."

"Sir, there is a smell of blood in the kitchen!" A man quickly stepped forward to report.

The leader of the imperial guards glanced sideways at Nanny Zhang, who was surprised. "How is that possible? The kitchen is full of soup. My master caught a cold yesterday and went to bed early. I just killed two chickens and made soup before going to bed."

The leader of the imperial guards walked towards the kitchen, checked the bloodstains on the ground, squatted down, put his hand on them, and raised them to his nose to smell them.

He stood up and slapped the guard: "Asshole, can't you tell the difference between human blood and chicken blood?!"

"Sir, spare my life!"

Nanny Zhang consoled him, "Please don't be angry, my lord. The Imperial Guards are the strictest of forces, and we are convinced of their rule."

The leader of the Imperial Guards nodded: "Have you finished searching?"

"Your Excellency, there are still rooms in the main courtyard that have not been searched."

The leader of the Imperial Guards turned around and said, "Madam, could you please go and inform us so that we can go through the formalities?"

Nanny Zhang's eyes curved, and she raised her hand in a gesture of request: "Of course I cannot delay your Excellency's search for the assassin. Please come this way."

The group quickly walked towards the main courtyard.
