Chapter 33 I Know a Little About Medicine, But I’m Not a Coroner

"Why are you searching my bag?" Su Qi hurriedly brought the gray bag over and opened it. "Sir, I only have some snacks in this bag. Snacks for my two little ones."

Yao Liu walked over and took a look. There was a small jar of lard, a small jar of salt, some paper-wrapped malt sugar, two steamed buns, and a few pieces of clothing. There were also two large coins and two small silver coins.

The backpack was also filled with a variety of things. On the ground was an iron pot, several wooden bowls and wooden spoons.

Yao Liu had a good impression of Su Qi and his voice became much softer.

"We're just doing a routine inspection. Don't worry about us taking your belongings." He covered the backpack with his coarse cloak and waved to the others, saying, "Everything is normal here. Let's go and search the next place."

Yao Liu and the other four officers walked to the door and turned around to instruct, "We won't delay your journey. We'll be leaving in an hour at most."

"You'd better stay in the house and don't walk around. You might be mistaken for a thief and shot."

"Thank you, sir."

Su Qi put the things that were in disarray back in place.

Gu Beiting's eyes turned dark, and after thinking for a moment, she said, "Sister-in-law, let's go back to our parents. You need to help carry the things when we leave."

"Yes, we have to go."

Gu Beijing was worried that Zhang Yunyu and Fang Xiaoya would continue to argue with the police and bring Su Qi into the matter. She quickly echoed Gu Beiting's words, and the two of them hurriedly headed next door.

Gu Beiyao, who was following behind, hurried over.

Seeing that everyone has left.

Su Qi closed the door.

They brought out a pot of millet porridge, two baskets of steamed buns, three meat dumplings, and a plate of sour and crispy pickled ginger. The family of four ate breakfast in silence.

"Eat quickly." Su Qi picked up some steamed buns and gave them to Dabao and Erbao.

"Mom, what is this? It's delicious." Dabao thinks that everything he has eaten recently is delicious.

If he could run on the ground whenever he wanted, he would think that this journey of exile would be fun.

Ate a lot of delicious food.

Erbao nodded repeatedly.

"Erbao likes to eat it. It's delicious." The little guy stuffed his mouth full and chewed it in small bites with his eyes squinting.

"This is Shaomai. When we get to our new home, Mom will make Shaomai for you."

"I want to eat a lot of steamed buns." Erbao, the little foodie, came online and reached out to take another steamed bun.

The two little guys automatically avoided the plate of sour ginger.

However, Su Qi and Gu Beiheng really liked it and ate up the whole plate of sour ginger.

Put the dishes into the space after eating.

Su Qi took out the rice she had cooked earlier and made a few rice balls, which she placed in her space. She added fried dough sticks, pork floss, and chopped peanuts and seaweed.

I plan to eat it at noon.

After leaving the space.

Someone came and knocked on the door.

Gu Beiheng walked over and opened the door, only to see a strange official. "Sir, what's going on?"

"Who is Su Qi?"

"It's my wife. What's the matter?"

The officer looked impatient and shouted, "Call Su Qi over here."

"I am Su Qi." Su Qi walked out and gave Gu Beiheng a reassuring look.

Does she know what Gu Beiheng is worried about?

"I heard you know medicine? Go check on a patient." The officer glanced at her. Was this young woman really a doctor at such a young age? Was she just trying to bluff with some weeds?

patient?

Looking at the strange look in the officer's eyes, Su Qi always thought that he was not looking at a patient but a dead person.

"Wait a moment, I'll take the silver needle."

"No, go over now. I didn't ask you to heal the disease and save the patient, but to see how the other person died."

Su Qi was shocked.

"Sir, I only have some knowledge of medicine, but I'm not a coroner. Only a coroner knows the cause of death." Su Qi hurriedly shook his head and waved his hands.

"Just go if you're told to. Stop talking nonsense. Do you think the head on your neck doesn't look good and want to change its position?"

Su Qi touched his neck and didn't want to change places for the time being.

wrong.

Whose hair do you say is ugly? Do you have good taste?

If she hadn't been in exile, Su Qi would have had a good argument with him, holding a mirror. You can say I'm poor, but you can't say I'm ugly.

Su Qi followed the police out with a dark face.

As expected, he walked towards Old Huang's house, and saw two expressionless policemen standing at the door.

The door opened.

Old Huang was lying on the wooden plank, fully dressed. His eyes were wide open, and there was a trace of saliva at the corner of his mouth.

Standing in the room were a bearded man and two unfamiliar faces.

"Do you know medicine?" The person who asked the question saw that Su Qi was only in her twenties and a young woman. Naturally, he didn't believe that such a person could be a doctor.

"I know a little bit. My maternal grandfather's family has been practicing medicine for generations." Su Qi knew that her original mother's family was a family of doctors, especially her maternal grandfather who was a famous doctor in Yuncheng.

"But I'm not a coroner. The cause of death still needs to be determined by a coroner."

"It's okay, just take a look." The man spoke more gently.

Su Qi stepped forward, opened her mouth and nose, and pinched her throat. After checking around, she stopped and stood aside.

"Sir, let me be frank. I'm afraid he's dying of a heart attack."

"Well, it's none of your business. Let's go." The officer raised his chin, and the people around him quickly wrote down the cause of death.

Su Qi was a little stunned.

He was just a police officer after all, how could he die so easily?

This made it easier for Su Qi to take action. If he encountered such an ignorant official again in the future, Su Qi had a plan in mind.

"I'm leaving?" Su Qi asked uncertainly.

"Let's go. Or stay here and wait for the reward?" the man scoffed, then ordered the bearded man to prepare to depart. Old Huang's body remained at the post station, awaiting his superior's orders for further disposal.

There was definitely no reward, Su Qi rolled her eyes and walked out.

I can't help but sigh that in ancient times, the lives of common people were really not easy.

No wonder one has to study hard for ten years to make a name for oneself, or fight on the battlefield to shed his humble status.

Before Su Qi returned to her residence, she saw many people coming out.

"Su Qi, gather at the front."

Gu Xiuming's mother shouted enthusiastically. She was full of gratitude to Su Qi and Gu Beiheng, her two saviors.

If they weren't still on the road of exile, I would have lit a perpetual lamp for them both.

"Auntie, have you seen Beiheng come out?"

"No."

Su Qi walked faster. As soon as she turned the corner, she saw Gu Beiheng carrying two backpacks, a bundle on his arm, and a wooden yoke. Dabao and Erbao, one on each side, were tugging on Gu Beiheng's trouser legs as they walked towards him.

"Qiqi, are you okay?" Gu Beiheng's nervous expression calmed down when he saw Su Qi.

"It's okay. But let me see why Old Huang died suddenly. After a careful look, I think he had a heart disease." Su Qi responded in a low voice.

"Let's go."

Neither Gu Beiheng nor Su Qi missed the shadow not far away.

The two of them placed Dabao and Erbao in the small backpack. They continued to carry the backpack and the bag and went to the front to gather.

There were a few fewer officers this time.

Yao Liu was replaced as the leader.

Yao Wu, the big man with curly beard, Monkey and a dozen other officials accompanied them.

The air pressure was very low along the way.

Everyone could feel that the official was in a bad mood, and he walked as if he wished he had wings under his ribs.

After walking less than five or six miles, it started raining again.

Yao Liu and other officials all had straw raincoats, but they still chose to advance in the rain.

At the post station, many families bought umbrellas or raincoats, only a few dozen people did not.

Halfway there.

Su Qi vaguely heard the sound of someone sobbing, which quickly dissipated in the rain.

I looked around curiously, but all I saw were umbrellas and raincoats lining the streets. I couldn't see anything at all.

"Hurry up and move on. Shifang Town is just ahead. Once we get outside the town, I'll give you half an hour to get your things ready." Yao Liuli shouted loudly while riding on the horse.

Everyone saw that it was already lunchtime, but they couldn't stop to eat some steamed bread or drink some water. They could only open their mouths wide and continue drinking rainwater to fill their stomachs.

Su Qi would occasionally feed Gu Beiheng some rice balls. The couple was so close together, and with the food nestled in her hands, she wasn't afraid of being seen.

We walked another ten miles.

The rain was getting heavier, and Yao Liu was worried that his horse wouldn't be able to withstand it. He thought he'd rest for a while when he reached Shifang Town.
