Chapter 102 The Secret of the Buddha Statue

In the dim environment, they carefully moved forward along the wall and finally found the big iron gate at the end.

The iron gate was locked, and Su Huaiyue signaled to Wei Che.

"What's hidden inside?"

Wei Che murmured.

A faint flapping sound came from behind the iron gate, as if something was flapping its wings.

Su Huaiyue leaned closer, put his ear against the cold iron door, and tried to identify the source of the sound.

"There may be some secret hidden behind this door."

She said softly, her face full of anxiety.

Wei Che also tried to listen for a while, but one thing was still hanging in his mind: "Maybe we have to open it and take a look."

Su Huaiyue took off the small tool from his waist and danced lightly with his fingers on the lock, but after trying for a long time, Su Huaiyue failed to open it successfully.

Behind the iron gate was pitch black, with the faint sounds of flying creatures visible.

Wei Che took out a tinderbox, and the faint flame flickered alone in the silent space.

"Hopefully we're not messing with something we shouldn't be touching."

He said, a hint of uneasiness in his words.

The fire starter in Wei Che's hand shook slightly, and the flickering light was barely reflected in the darkness, like a lone star floating in the deep night sky.

He stepped over the threshold cautiously, and Su Huaiyue followed closely behind him. The two of them held their breath vigilantly and looked around carefully.

However, the darkness did not give them much time to think.

"What on earth is this place?"

Su Huaiyue whispered, and her voice echoed between the stone walls.

She couldn't help but think of the bats mentioned in the system prompt just now. Could this place be related to them?

Suddenly, there were light footsteps and whispered conversations coming from outside the dark room.

Wei Che and Su Huaiyue exchanged worried glances. These voices seemed to conceal some potential threat.

They realized that staying here was not a wise option.

"We have to leave."

Wei Che whispered, determination flickering in his eyes.

However, just as they were about to take action, the floor beneath their feet suddenly shook slightly.

The stone bricks at their feet began to slide slightly, and a mechanical sound was heard from the wall.

"not good!"

Su Huaiyue instantly sensed the crisis and almost instinctively wanted to retreat.

Unfortunately, it was too late. With a loud bang, a wall suddenly popped out and the two were pushed forward involuntarily.

The world before their eyes began to spin. Su Huaiyue and Wei Che only felt their bodies flying in the air, and then fell heavily onto the solid ground.

After a burst of pain, they slowly raised their heads and found themselves in an unfamiliar woodland with the towering cliffs of the ancient castle behind them.

Everything remains the same, as if everything just now was just an illusion.

Wei Che slowly stood up from the ground, checked his body, and after making sure that he was not seriously injured, he quickly helped Su Huaiyue up.

“This is the back hill of the castle.”

He looked around at the cliffs of the ancient castle hidden by the dense forest.

Su Huaiyue frowned and gently brushed off the dust on her skirt.

"I didn't expect to be sent here by the agency."

She sighed, wondering to herself what the bats were up to.

Wei Che said solemnly, "It seems that this castle hides far more secrets than we imagined. We must investigate carefully and not alert the enemy."

Su Huaiyue nodded, knowing that this was something that had to be done.

"How about we go to the statue and investigate further?"

Su Huaiyue suggested.

Wei Che readily agreed, and the two of them walked along the path towards the main gate of the castle.

Su Huaiyue and Wei Che walked on the path leading to the main entrance of the castle relying on vague memories, and the stones under their feet occasionally made slight sounds.

The moonlight shines on them, but it cannot dispel the haze in their hearts.

The two of them slowed down their pace at the same time and tried to breathe lightly, for fear of disturbing something that should not be disturbed.

"Do you feel that there is a different smell in the air today?"

Su Huaiyue asked in a low voice, looking around.

"It's a little different,"

Wei Che frowned and sniffed the air, a flash of alertness in his eyes, "It smells like blood."

In order to avoid being spied on, they approached the statue worshipped by the villagers cautiously.

The statue remained as usual, standing in the sunlight, its stone surface slightly cold.

Su Huaiyue looked around the statue and couldn't help frowning.

"Look here," she pointed to a tiny crack in the statue, "this bloodstain wasn't left long ago. It looks like it was accidentally rubbed on."

Wei Che walked forward, carefully examined the mark, picked up a little and put it to his nose and sniffed it, "It's human blood, maybe someone was injured here."

He subconsciously grasped the dagger he carried with him, and became extremely wary of the unknown underground world.

At this moment, the solemn atmosphere was interrupted by the sudden sound of footsteps.

They quickly recalled their previous hiding places and hid behind the moss-covered stone wall.

A mechanism that had not been used for a long time made a slight sound, and the sound of footsteps gradually increased, indicating that someone was approaching.

The two men carefully poked their heads out and saw a messenger in black slowly walking out from behind the statue, his fingers gently twisting on a hidden mechanism of the statue.

The stone statue began to rotate slowly, and under its base, a staircase leading underground appeared.

Su Huaiyue stared at the entrance, countless possibilities flashing through his mind.

Her curiosity drove her to find out the truth.

However, Wei Che's calm dissuasion rang in his ears: "This is too dangerous. Our primary goal now is to ensure safety rather than take risks."

"I just..."

Su Huaiyue hesitated to speak, but after seeing Wei Che's determined gaze, she nodded, "Okay, then we'll discuss it in detail."

After the black-clad messenger disappeared into the underground passage, the statue returned to its original state, as if it had never moved.

The two communicated silently and decided to retreat to a hidden place for the time being.

Su Huaiyue and Wei Che continued to remain silent, and when they set out on their return journey, their hearts were still full of doubts.

The shadows of the woods moved quietly behind them, as if they were silent guardians, but also as if they were lurking unknown dangers.

The two returned to the castle. The corridor was empty and only the rustling of leaves in the wind could be heard.

Just as they were preoccupied with how to tell their allies about their recent discovery, a familiar voice broke the silence.

"Master Wei, Madam Wei, where are you going?"

Uncle Ping's voice came from the other end of the corridor. He was thin and had a kind face.

Uncle Ping is the old man guarding the castle.

Su Huaiyue and Wei Che exchanged a meaningful look.

"Oh, I was just looking for a toilet."

Wei Che answered quickly, trying to sound relaxed and natural.

Uncle Ping nodded slightly, seeming to be quite satisfied with the answer. "That's great. I want to go too. I'll take you guys with me."
