Chapter 14 Heatstroke

After everyone had a hearty meal, they quickly rested and went to bed.

Perhaps because they had finally tasted some meat, when they set out early the next morning, they all seemed more motivated than usual.

It’s a pity that this momentum didn’t last long.

After marching for two days, everyone's spirits gradually declined.

The desert sun is harsh and burns the skin.

Su Huaiyue saw everyone's dry lips and looked around.

Everywhere I looked, there was the endless yellow sand that I had become accustomed to seeing in the past three days.

It has been two full days since I last passed by a water source!

Even though everyone was drinking sparingly, the water in the water bag was almost empty.

The rations were dried up by the desert temperature, leaving only some dry buns as hard as baguettes.

Not to mention the exiles, even the police officers could hardly walk.

"Sister-in-law, we adults can just endure it, but if this goes on, Li'er and Zhi'er won't be able to bear it!" Wei Yunrou pulled the corner of Su Huaiyue's clothes worriedly.

Over the past few days, her sister-in-law has become an omnipotent figure in her mind.

Even if something goes wrong, there is a solution.

Su Huaiyue followed Wei Yunrou's gaze and looked at the two children with their heads hanging down who were following Madam Wei.

His small body took heavy steps and staggered as he walked.

Su Huaiyue's heart tightened.

They have all reached their limit, and if they continue like this, something bad will happen!

Just when she was about to discuss taking a break with Lord Li, she heard Adjutant Cheng Gang speak first: "We've been walking for so long, let's stop and rest!"

Hearing him say this, everyone breathed a sigh of relief and began to slowly move towards the dead tree not far away.

"Sir, I see that you don't look very well. Let's go and avoid the heat!" Cheng Gang said as he supported Sir Li.

Lord Li's face was pale and his forehead was covered with sweat.

His physique was that of yin deficiency and excessive fire, and he could not endure walking for such a long time in the desert where there was not enough water and food.

He wanted to say something to comfort Cheng Gang, but after clearing his throat, he couldn't utter a word for a long time. He could only wave his hands weakly to indicate that he was fine.

Su Huaiyue deliberately slowed down and fell to the end of the team.

She took some spiritual spring water from the space and poured it into her water bag.

Although this cannot completely improve everyone's situation, it can always be used to solve the immediate problem.

She was about to speed up to catch up with the team when she suddenly heard a "bang" and Lord Li fell to the ground.

The crowd, which had been dead silent, suddenly exploded.

"Sir! Sir! Are you okay?" Cheng Gang patted Sir Li's face, but when he saw that he had no reaction, he became extremely anxious.

He hurriedly ordered two officers to carry Lord Li to the shade under a dead tree.

As a doctor, Su Huaiyue subconsciously wanted to step forward to treat the patient, but was blocked by Wei Ersao: "Su Huaiyue, this is not a chance for you to show off!"

"Second sister-in-law, in your eyes, saving people is just to attract other people's attention?" Su Huaiyue retorted sarcastically.

She wanted to get around Wei Ersao, but she grabbed her arm tightly.

"The previous few times, maybe you did have some ability, plus you were lucky, so nothing bad happened. But this time is different!"

"Lord Li is an official appointed by the imperial court. What will we do if your mediocre skills cause any harm to others?"

Su Huaiyue said firmly: "I saved the person, even if something goes wrong, I will bear the responsibility alone!"

"You may say nice things now, but if something goes wrong, don't implicate the Wei family!" Wei's second wife sneered and rolled her eyes.

"Enough, Nifeng!" Madam Wei coughed lightly a few times. Her voice was a little hoarse because she had not drunk water for a long time, but she was still very majestic.

"Let Huaiyue go. Lord Li has taken such good care of us along the way, and we should be grateful for that. Even if we can't cure him, it would be nice if we could help."

"But grandma, if Su Huaiyue fails to provide proper medical treatment and something goes wrong, will our entire family be implicated?"

Mrs. Wei pointed at the two children beside Madam Wei and said, "Even if you don't consider us, think about Li'er and Zhi'er! They are still young, how can they withstand any more misfortunes?"

Madam Wei looked down at the two children, and there was a hint of hesitation in her eyes.

The atmosphere was tense when a voice suddenly rang out: "Madam, please treat it. I will take responsibility for any problems that arise!"

Su Huaiyue turned around and saw Adjutant Cheng standing behind them.

He nodded to Su Huaiyue and said, "I've seen Madam treating someone's leg before. I think her medical skills are quite good. You might as well give it a try."

Anyway, Lord Li’s condition is already so bad now, how much worse can it get?

It’s better than doing nothing and waiting for adults to die!

Madam Wei also nodded to Su Huaiyue: "Since the adjutant has said so, Huaiyue, you should go quickly!"

Even though Second Wife of Wei still had a lot of complaints in her heart, she had to keep them all to herself after receiving a glance from Old Madam Wei.

"Please everyone please make way and leave some space for the adults to breathe smoothly!" Su Huaiyue asked the officers to disperse the crowd gathered on the side.

She walked over to take his pulse and saw that Lord Li's tongue was red and had a dry coating, as if he had heatstroke.

"Madam, how is the master? Is he seriously injured?" Adjutant Cheng followed Su Huaiyue's every move.

"Don't worry, adjutant. He just fainted due to the heat. His life is not in danger." This is just a physical problem. He can recover by drinking spiritual spring water. However, Su Huaiyue was afraid that others would suspect her spiritual spring, so she pinched his philtrum and then took out a water bag and handed it to the adjutant, "Please give him some more water. He will be fine after a while."

Adjutant Cheng quickly did as he was told.

It was not a serious illness, and the water bag was filled with spiritual spring water. Within a stick of incense, Lord Li slowly woke up.

"Sir, are you okay?" When Adjutant Cheng saw Lord Li wake up, he was so excited that he almost jumped up from the ground and hurried to support him.

"This is..." Lord Li stroked his still dizzy head, listened to Adjutant Cheng's report on the situation, and looked up at Su Huaiyue with gratitude.

With the help of Adjutant Cheng, he struggled to his feet and saluted Su Huaiyue, saying, "Thank you, Madam, for saving me just now!"

"Your Excellency, this is serious!" Su Huaiyue hurriedly returned the greeting.

Before she finished speaking, she heard the system's voice suddenly appear in her mind.

[Ding! Congratulations to the master for successfully saving Mr. Li. Reward: twenty boxes of Huoxiang Zhengqi Water to be stored in the system space.]

Su Huaiyue's eyes lit up.

Even in modern times, she would keep some at home every summer just in case.

The environment is hot now and the risk of heat stroke has greatly increased, which is solving her current troubles.

In addition to relieving heat, Huoxiang Zhengqi Water can also be used to relieve itching, treat acclimatization and other problems, and it is definitely very useful!

Su Huaiyue was thinking about it when Wei Yunrou suddenly grabbed her arm and said, "Sister-in-law, you can even cure Master Li. You are really amazing!"

Before Su Huaiyue could respond, she heard the sour voice of Wei Ersao: "It's just a little bit of medical skills, what's the big deal!"
