Chapter 27: Zhi'er is injured

The next day.

On their way, they suddenly encountered a caravan of merchants seeking help. They were in a very sorry state and looked like they had been wandering in the desert for a long time.

The man was dressed as a Hu person and was probably not familiar with the roads here and got lost.

"My Lords, we are a caravan that has lost its way here. May we follow you? We are willing to offer you a few camels as a trade."

Adjutant Cheng had an idea. If they had these camels, their journey would be much easier.

They just had a few more people on their side, so the deal was a good one and they agreed to it immediately.

Su Huaiyue naturally also noticed the requests of those businessmen.

And I happened to hear them talking there.

The leader and several members of the caravan were discussing in a low voice whether to send someone to look for the missing members.

Su Huaiyue stood not far away, his eyes looking slightly solemn.

She vaguely guessed that the person she had rescued not long ago might be the member they were looking for.

However, in the current situation, it is better to have less trouble than more, so she chose to remain silent.

The sand and the scorching sun intertwined to form a golden ocean.

Su Huaiyue turned his gaze to the distance, where there were endless sand dunes. Occasionally, wind and sand blew by, rolling up a winding sand flow.

The camels stood quietly in the shade, occasionally shaking their bodies and making dull bell sounds.

At this time, Wei Zhi came over to bring water to Wei Che, and Su Huaiyue found that his walking posture was a little strange.

Su Huaiyue softly called Zhier over. He put his hand on Zhier's shoulder and asked gently, "Zhier, I see you're limping a lot. Is your foot okay?"

Zhier's eyes flickered as he said, "I'm fine."

It was obvious that Su Huaiyue didn't believe what he said. She pulled Zhier to look at his shoes carefully.

I found that my shoes had been worn out and the wounds were filled with fine sand. Bright red blood was wrapped in the sand and stuck there stickyly.

Her brows were slightly raised, and her eyes were full of worry and blame.

"Why didn't you tell me earlier that you were injured?" Su Huaiyue's voice was soft and warm, containing endless pity.

This child always acts like a little adult. He never says anything and even endures it silently when he is hurt.

Zhier shook his head stubbornly. Even though his feet could no longer touch the ground, he still argued, "It doesn't hurt that much. It's okay."

Su Huaiyue sighed helplessly, then gently pulled Zhier to sit on a relatively flat rock.

She took out the Linquan water from the water energy she carried with her. The water was clear and transparent, flowing along her fingertips to Wei Zhi's wound, washing away all the sand and dirt on the surface.

Then he took off his cotton coat and wrapped the wound.

The strong little guy didn't say a word during the whole process.

Wei Che also noticed Zhier's situation.

His voice was equally gentle, revealing an unconcealable concern in his heart: "Why didn't you say it earlier? You had to endure it."

Wei Zhi shook his head, his face showing a determination that was inconsistent with his age. He replied in a slightly childish but firm voice: "Because my uncle is also injured, and I am the only man in the family. I must not hold everyone back."

A subtle sense of pride and persistence appeared on his face.

Although Zhier's little face still had a young and naive expression, the sense of responsibility revealed in his eyes when he said these words was extremely moving.

Su Huaiyue's heart was full of pity, and she gently held Zhier in her arms.

She took out a glass of watermelon juice from her space and handed it to him.

The liquid in the cup sparkles an alluring red under the sunlight, as if condensing the sweetness of the entire summer.

After taking it, Zhier carefully tasted the sweet juice. It spread in his mouth, and an expression of confusion but satisfaction appeared on his face.

His big eyes sparkled with surprise and curiosity: "Where did this come from? Why does it taste so good?"

Su Huaiyue patted his head lovingly, smiling: "This is mother's secret. If you want to drink it again in the future, just do it quietly and don't ask."

Her voice is as gentle as a gurgling stream, with a hint of warmth and mystery.

Hearing this, Zhier nodded obediently, his eyes shining like the rising stars in the sky.

He always felt that his mother was hiding some secret from him, but his little head couldn't guess what it was. However, his heart was full of respect, love and curiosity for his mother.

Several camels were allocated to their team.

The official immediately sent a camel to their home.

It was Adjutant Cheng who brought it over personally.

"Madam Wei, I'll give you a camel."

Su Huaiyue nodded slightly in thanks, her gratitude overflowing with words.

Here, I saw a bit more curiosity and excitement in the camel's eyes.

She led the majestic camel to Wei Che and patted the saddle. The camel's fur shone with a golden luster in the sunlight.

"You can take Zhi'er and sit on it." Su Huaiyue's voice was gentle but with an unquestionable firmness. "You both have injured feet, so it will be more convenient to travel this way."

Wei Che was stunned, looking at the camel she was leading over, with an expression of disbelief in his eyes.

This was completely beyond his expectations.

The official gave the Wei family a camel entirely out of Su Huaiyue's favor.

And now Su Huaiyue actually wants to give this preferential treatment to him and the child.

This woman might not be as cold and heartless as she thought when she first met her.

Zhi'er, who was standing by, was delighted when he heard that he could ride a camel. However, he immediately thought of his sister's concern and pulled Su Huaiyue's sleeve without hesitation: "Zhi'er is not tired, let your sister ride, okay?"

"No, no, no, my brother's foot is injured and it hurts to walk. I won't sit here. Let me sit here."

Wei Li immediately and firmly retorted, her childish voice full of concern and understanding.

Su Huaiyue gently touched the heads of the two little ones. The deep brotherly and sisterly love between them was truly touching.

"Okay, okay, I'll listen to you. Let's take turns sitting, okay?"

Wei Che felt a little guilty when he thought about his previous attitude towards Su Huaiyue: "I have no problem walking, so let Wei Li and Zhier sit on it, don't worry about me."

Hearing Wei Che's words, Su Huaiyue became a little annoyed.

This man is so hesitant. Just sit down if I tell you to. Why are you talking so much nonsense?

Then he glared at him and said in a cold and hard tone: "Hurry up and get up here. Don't waste everyone's time."

Her attitude was firm, with an unquestionable determination.

Wei Che was stunned by the sudden cold breath, and a wave of helplessness surged in his heart.

This woman has quite a temper.

He coughed awkwardly and climbed up holding Zhier.

After walking for a while, Zhier got off and Wei Li took the seat.

This way both children can take turns going up to rest.
