Chapter 284: Officers and Soldiers Arrive

Su Huaiyue and Wei Che walked out of Li Ruolan's courtyard.

The sky in Youzhou was gloomy, as if a heavy lead plate was pressing on my heart.

In the distance, the mountains rise and fall like dormant dragons, appearing particularly dull under the haze.

Occasionally, a few wild geese would fly by in a V-formation, and their cries would echo in the empty sky, adding a bit of desolation.

Wei Che looked into the distance, smiled bitterly, and a trace of loneliness appeared in his eyes: "Sister-in-law, I felt very uncomfortable after meeting Lord Lin and Li Ruolan today. If you hadn't come to the Wei family and led us to run the Meiyan Pavilion, I'm afraid the Wei family's situation would not be much better than what those two people just did."

His voice was low and calm, but it was difficult to hide the emotion in his words.

Su Huaiyue shook her head slightly, looking at Wei Che with a firm gaze: "Wei Che, don't say that. Even without me, with your ability and ambition, you can still lead the Wei family to a good life. You are brave, resourceful, and ambitious. Returning to the capital and making the Wei family even more prosperous than before may be difficult for others, but it is by no means impossible for you."

Her words were firm and her eyes were full of trust and expectation.

Su Huaiyue was certainly not talking nonsense. Wei Che in the second half of the novel could be described as a legend.

Su Huaiyue?

It doesn't even take up a small space in the book.

It was all thanks to Wei Che himself that he was able to stand in that position in the end.

But Wei Che didn't know this. He lowered his head and saw the clear trust and determination in Su Huaiyue's eyes.

He clearly has nothing now, and even he himself has given up, but there is one person who firmly believes that he can turn things around, and even return to the capital...

Wei Che pursed his lips. He looked at Su Huaiyue, the corners of his mouth slightly raised, revealing a confident smile: "Sister-in-law, you have full confidence in me. I am confident that I can do it myself, but because you are here, I am indeed much more relaxed."

The young man stood straight, the light falling on him, outlining his tall and slender figure.

His sword-like eyebrows slanted into his temples, and his deep eyes were like cold stars twinkling in the night sky.

Su Huaiyue's heart couldn't help but tremble slightly. She quickly turned her head away, suppressing the ripples in her heart, and walked forward quickly: "Let's go, it's getting late, and there are still many things waiting for us to go back and deal with."

Her steps were hurried, as if she was running away from something.

At the same time, inside Jing Zhiwan's residence, one of his men knelt on one knee and reported to her, "Master, Su Huaiyue and Wei Che visited several exiled criminals today."

Jing Zhiwan was sitting on a carved chair. Upon hearing this, her brows furrowed tightly, and a hint of displeasure flashed in her eyes: "They are simply crazy! How dare they do this? Aren't they afraid of getting into trouble?"

The next morning, Su Huaiyue was still immersed in sleep when she was awakened by a series of rapid knocks on the door.

Wei Yunrou hurriedly pushed the door open and rushed into the room: "Sister-in-law! Sister-in-law! It's bad, a lot of soldiers are outside, saying they are reporting the Wei family for collusion and rebellion!"

Her face was filled with panic and her voice was noticeably trembling.

Su Huaiyue woke up instantly and felt a tightness in her heart. This charge was no joke.

She dressed quickly, not even bothering to comb her messy hair, and hurried out.

When they arrived at the door, they saw Wei Che and Madam Wei standing there, confronting a group of officers and soldiers.

The leading officer was a burly man with a face full of flesh. It was He Er.

He stood at the doorway menacingly, the sword at his waist gleaming coldly in the sunlight, his eyes revealing arrogance: "You, the Wei family, are so bold that you dare to collude with other criminals and intend to rebel!"

Wei Che looked calm and determined as he looked at He Er. "Sir, please don't speak carelessly. We were just visiting an old friend. How can we be said to be colluding with a rebel?"

His voice was steady and powerful, without a trace of panic.

He Er sneered, his eyes full of disdain: "Humph, you are all exiled criminals. Are you visiting an old friend or plotting a rebellion? Do you even need to think about it? I think you have evil intentions!"

He took a step forward and pointed at Wei Che with an aggressive look.

Su Huaiyue's heart trembled. Who reported it?

Could it be the three people who visited yesterday?

The faces of Lord Lin, Chen Fugui and Li Ruolan quickly flashed through her mind, but she soon felt that it was unlikely.

She took a deep breath, tried to calm herself, and walked forward and said, "Sir, have you misunderstood? Our Wei family has always been honest and has never done anything wrong."

He Er looked at Su Huaiyue with a malicious look in his eyes: "Hmph, stop quibbling here! Someone reported us, and we naturally have to act according to the law. All of you be honest and come back to the government office with us!"

As soon as he waved his hand, the officers and soldiers behind him became restless, as if ready to arrest people at any time.

Madam Wei's face was pale and her body was trembling slightly, but she still managed to speak: "You are wrongly accusing a good person! Our Wei family has been loyal for generations. How could we do such a treasonous thing?"

Her voice was trembling, but revealed a stubbornness.

He Er was unmoved: "Loyalty? You're in exile now, how can you still talk about loyalty? Don't dawdle, get out of here!"

His tone was firm, leaving no room for negotiation.

Su Huaiyue looked at He Er and knew in her heart that she should not panic at this moment.

She said calmly, "Sir, since someone has reported us, you must let us know who the whistleblower is. That way we can confront him face to face and prove our innocence."

Her eyes were firm as she looked straight into He Er's eyes, trying to find a flaw in his expression.

He Er's eyes flickered, avoiding Su Huaiyue's gaze: "I can't tell you who the informant is now. I will let you know when I return to the government office."

His words were a little vague, and he obviously didn't want to reveal the whistleblower's information.

Wei Che felt that this matter was more and more suspicious. He stepped forward and stood in front of Su Huaiyue: "Sir, we will cooperate with you to go to the government office, but before that, please don't embarrass the women in your family."

His eyes were firm and his tone carried a hint of unquestionable authority.

He Er snorted coldly: "Hmph, then it depends on your performance in the government. If you really have the intention of rebellion, don't even think about escaping!"

As he spoke, he waved his hand and led the officers and soldiers to surround Wei Che and Su Huaiyue and took them towards the government office.

Along the way, the people looked sideways and pointed at each other, and the hearts of the Wei family were filled with worry and uneasiness.

At the gate of the mansion, several female members of the Wei family all had frowns on their faces.

Wei Ersao fell behind alone. Where no one could see her, she lowered her head and breathed a sigh of relief.

The Wei family members were taken to the government office by officers and soldiers. Along the way, Su Huaiyue kept wondering who was behind the incident.
