Chapter 385 True or False Concern

Cao Yi is the emperor's childhood friend. They studied in the same school, grew up together, and played together. They have a very close relationship, so it is no exaggeration to say that he is her uncle.

She nodded slightly, a gentle smile appeared on her delicate face, and her heart was filled with emotion.

Thinking of Cao Yi's concern for her, she did not delay at all. She quickly picked up the clothes that had been prepared on the side and put them on skillfully.

In the bronze mirror, she looked radiant, but there was a hint of worry between her eyebrows.

After adjusting the hairpin on her head, she walked towards the front hall with light steps.

When Princess Furu walked into the front hall with light steps, her eyes first fell on the high seat in the front hall.

Cao Yi was sitting there in a proper casual suit, looking a little anxious.

He leaned forward slightly, his hands folded on his knees, as if waiting for something. Princess Furu frowned slightly, feeling a little puzzled. Cao Yi always greeted her warmly on weekdays, so why was he sitting in such a high position today?

But she didn't think much about it and still walked towards Cao Yi.

As Princess Furu approached step by step, the elegant fragrance from her body gradually spread.

Her steps were light and steady, and every step seemed to be stepping on Cao Yi's heart.

Cao Yi finally raised his head and saw Princess Furu approaching.

Hot tears instantly welled up in his eyes, and the tears rolled around in his eye sockets, as if they would burst out at any time.

He immediately stood up from his seat, his movements quick and anxious, as if he was afraid that Princess Furu would suddenly disappear.

He walked quickly forward, his steps were a little messy, but it did not affect his desire to see Princess Furu at all.

Coming before Princess Furu, he bent down slightly, his voice filled with concern and self-blame: "Princess, it's my fault for not taking good care of you. You got hurt. I almost can't explain to His Majesty."

His voice trembled slightly, filled with deep guilt.

Princess Furu looked at the anxious and self-blaming Cao Yi in front of her, and her heart softened. She shook her head gently, reached out her hand and patted Cao Yi's arm, and said gently: "Uncle Cao, how can I blame you for this? It was my own carelessness that made you worry. You don't need to blame yourself, as long as you are okay."

Her voice was like a spring breeze, gentle and warm, which gradually eased Cao Yi's originally nervous mood.

Princess Furu affectionately took Cao Yi's arm, with a gentle smile on her face, and said softly: "Uncle Cao, this is not your fault. It is me who made you worry."

Cao Yi sighed slightly and said with emotion: "In the blink of an eye, the princess has grown up so much and has become a graceful and elegant lady. I am so happy to see her."

He paused, and a look of regret and sadness appeared on his face again.

He went on, "It's a pity for Eunuch Chen. Because he offended the Right Prime Minister, he was sent outside the capital to comfort refugees. This job is tiring and he has to pay for it himself, so it can be considered a punishment that is neither too light nor too heavy."

Princess Furu already knew what was going on. She frowned slightly and sighed softly, "I think it's because Right Prime Minister Murong Chong found out about Eunuch Chen's previous proposal to have Wei Che return to the capital, so he received this punishment. Fortunately, it wasn't too severe, so Eunuch Chen was able to save his life."

At the same time, on the distant and winding official road, the sun was high in the sky, scorching the earth and sending up waves of heat.

Su Huaiyue and Wei Che were trudging along among towering mountains. Surrounded by rolling hills, their steep peaks piercing the sky. The occasional chirping of birds in the mountains only added to the loneliness and desolation.

Days of riding had put tremendous strain on Wei Che's body, and his old illness had relapsed.

Su Huaiyue was riding on the horse, keeping an eye on Wei Che beside him.

She keenly noticed that something was wrong with Wei Che's condition. He looked increasingly pale, and his originally straight back was slightly bent.

Su Huaiyue's heart tightened, and she moved closer and asked with concern: "Wei Che, are you feeling unwell? You don't look well."

Wei Che endured the piercing pain in his legs. Every bump felt like someone was cutting into his wound with a sharp knife. But he still gritted his teeth and forced a smile. His voice was a little weak but still firm as he said, "I'm fine. I'm probably just a little tired. Don't worry."

He didn't want Su Huaiyue to worry about him, and he didn't want to show weakness at this critical moment.

Su Huaiyue looked at him pretending to be calm, and the worry in her heart not only did not decrease, but became even worse.

She frowned slightly and said, "Don't force yourself. If you feel uncomfortable, just tell us and we can find a place to rest."

Wei Che shook his head, his eyes revealing a determination. He endured the pain and observed the surrounding environment vigilantly.

He knew very well that in this wilderness, he could be in danger if he was not careful.

"It's not time to rest here yet. Hold on a little longer and find a safe place." He said, his voice low but unquestionable.

Su Huaiyue nodded helplessly and said nothing more, but her eyes never left Wei Che.

Finally, after making sure there were no potential threats around, Wei Che's tense nerves relaxed a little and he slowly sat down to rest.

But who would have thought that once he relaxed, the fatigue and pain in his body instantly came flooding back like a tide. Wei Che felt a chill rising from the soles of his feet, and then his whole body became hot. Sweat kept rolling down his forehead, and he developed a high fever.

Su Huaiyue was extremely anxious upon seeing this. She immediately squatted down, held onto Wei Che's shoulders, and anxiously shouted, "Wei Che, what's wrong with you? Hold on!" Wei Che was already too weak to speak at this point. He could only tremble slightly, and his consciousness gradually became blurred...
