Chapter 132 Two Uncles (1/2)

"Although your mother is dead, your two uncles are still alive."

Wang Xiulian hurriedly said, "Back then, your mother was Princess Anhe from the neighboring country, but she lost her memory, which is why your father benefited from her. For so many years, your two uncles have been secretly inquiring about you. This time, knowing that you are in Luanshi Village, they specifically asked me to tell you so that you can go back and recognize your family!"

Pei Wuwang was shocked, his face showing disbelief.

Seeing his shocked expression, Wang Xiulian continued, "Your two uncles have now regained power and are just waiting for you to return and inherit their titles!"

She looked at Pei Wuwang with an urgent plea in her eyes, and raised her voice a few decibels: "You must come back with me! Your mother was once the noble Princess Anhe of the neighboring country, but she was murdered by treacherous people due to palace strife and suffered endless torment before passing away! Now your two uncles hold military power and are waiting for you to come back so that you can help them reclaim the throne and restore your mother's glory!"

She spoke with deep emotion, her eyes reddening, as if she were truly lamenting Pei Wuwang's background.

I am heartbroken by what happened to his mother.

Pei Wuwang remained unmoved, his eyes still icy cold.

With a detached calm, even: "Go back? Go back where? To participate in your struggle for the throne, to become your pawn in your power grab?"

His voice was flat, yet carried an inexplicable sense of oppression: "I've been doing just fine all these years, and I have no interest in getting involved in all that scheming and infighting."

"How could you say that!" Wang Xiulian stamped her foot in frustration, her face full of disbelief. "That's your family! Your mother's own brother! They've been searching for you for so many years, just so you can be recognized by your ancestors, so you can live a life of luxury and never suffer again!"

Pei Wuwang scoffed.

A hint of undisguised sarcasm flashed in his eyes as he interrupted her: "Relatives? After my mother 'died,' when I was living a life worse than a pig or a dog in the Pei family, being beaten and scolded at will, and going hungry and cold, where were my 'relatives'? When I was pushed out by the Pei family to take the blame and almost lost my life, where was my 'uncle'?"

He approached Wang Xiulian step by step, his eyes sharp as knives, his tone icy cold, suppressed for many years: "Now you remember me? Remember I'm Princess Anhe's son? Where were you before?"

Wang Xiulian was forced to retreat repeatedly by him.

Her eyes darted away, and her tone became somewhat flustered: "The situation was... complicated back then, and your uncles had no choice! They had been secretly inquiring about you, but they just couldn't find you..."

"Didn't find it?"

Pei Wuwang sneered, his tone even more sarcastic, "I'm in the capital, not isolated from the world. If I really wanted to find someone, how come I haven't been able to find them after all these years? I'm afraid it's not that I can't find them, but that I haven't taken them to heart."

He paused.

His eyes suddenly turned cold, carrying a strong sense of intimidation: "Besides, why should I believe you? You say you were entrusted by my uncle, what proof do you have? I think you have ulterior motives, maybe you're a spy from an enemy country, trying to trick me back so you can control me and blackmail the Shen family! Believe me or not, I'll report you to the authorities right now and say you're colluding with foreign enemies and have ulterior motives?"

"No! You can't report this to the authorities!"

Wang Xiulian turned pale with fright and hurriedly waved her hands, her voice trembling with tears, "I didn't lie to you! I'm telling the truth! Your two uncles really love you. They would never have abandoned you back then if they hadn't had no other choice! Now that they've finally found you, how can you treat them like this..."

"Feel sorry for me?" Pei Wuwang seemed to have heard the biggest joke in the world, his eyes filled with cold indifference. "I don't need this belated 'pain,' and I don't need to get involved in your power struggles. Go back and tell those two 'uncles' that I can live my own life and I don't need them to interfere. Don't come looking for me again, or don't blame me for being impolite."

After saying that, he didn't look at Wang Xiulian again, turned around and left, his back view resolute. There was not a trace of lingering affection.

Wang Xiulian watched his retreating figure, stamping her feet in frustration, yet she dared not chase after him. She could only stand there, her face filled with resentment and annoyance.
