After Lu Jiaojiao set the trap, Pei Yurou focused all her attention on Shen Mingzhao.
Knowing that Shen Mingzhao often went to Shen Qingtang's textile workshop to check the accounts, she dressed up in a flamboyant manner and waited at the alley entrance outside the workshop with a pot of peach blossom wine laced with medicine.
Before long, Shen Mingzhao came out of the textile workshop with the account book in his hand. Pei Yurou immediately went up to him and said in a sweet voice, "Shen Mingzhao, what a coincidence! I've been waiting for you here for a long time."
As she spoke, she reached out to grab his arm.
Shen Mingzhao frowned and dodged away, his tone distant: "Miss Pei, do you have something to say to me?"
He already disliked the Pei family because of Pei Jindan's affair.
Seeing Pei Yurou being so proactive now only makes him feel more annoyed.
Pei Yurou pretended not to notice and raised the wine pot in her hand.
He smiled and said, "I know the Pei family wronged you and Shen Qingtang before, so we specially brewed some peach blossom wine to apologize. Just have a sip."
As she spoke, she reached for his mouth.
Just as Shen Mingzhao was about to refuse, he saw Pei Yurou twist her ankle and fall onto him.
She also splashed the wine jug in her hand at him. He reacted quickly, shoving Pei Yurou aside and saying coldly, "Miss Pei, please have some self-respect!"
Just then, Su Lingwei walked past the alleyway carrying a food box. She was there to deliver snacks to the workers in the textile workshop and happened to witness this scene.
When Pei Yurou saw Su Lingwei arrive, a hint of panic flashed in her eyes.
Then, she deliberately put on a wronged expression and cried to Shen Mingzhao, "Shen Mingzhao, I only meant well, how could you treat me like this..."
