In the moment they were stunned, Pei Nian'an had already pulled the trigger repeatedly. After several gunshots, the remaining assassins fell to the ground, their blood staining the ground red.
The whole process took only a moment. Pei Nian'an holstered the gun and put it back in his backpack in one smooth motion, his face still expressionless, as if he had only done a trivial matter.
He didn't even glance at the corpse on the ground before turning to leave, his composure and calmness evident.
He doesn't seem like a child who has just killed someone at all.
He had no intention of telling Shen Qingtang about this; he was no longer a child who needed his parents' constant protection.
This trip to the Western Regions helped him grow in so much, teaching him how to deal with danger on his own.
Liang Wanwan, who was not far away, saw everything clearly. She was so frightened that she trembled all over and her face turned ashen. She never imagined that Pei Nian'an was so powerful and that he possessed such a terrifying weapon.
The assassins they sent didn't even have a chance to fight back.
Thinking of how Shen Qingtang had managed to make this street so prosperous and was deeply loved by the people, while he himself was constantly hitting roadblocks, jealousy and fear intertwined in his heart.
It left her barely able to breathe, and she could only cower awkwardly in the corner, too ashamed to show her face.
At this moment, Yun Qingxuan slowly walked up to Pei Nian'an, his eyes full of surprise and admiration.
He had witnessed the entire process firsthand. The boy's calmness, decisiveness, and the strange yet deadly weapon in his hand all piqued his curiosity. "Young friend, you were truly skilled just now."
Yun Qingxuan spoke gently, with a hint of approval, and his demeanor was polite, without a trace of condescension.
Pei Nian'an looked up at him and recognized him as the white-clad man she had seen at the barbecue restaurant earlier. Her eyes still held a hint of wariness, but she nodded nonetheless.
This can be considered a response.
As the two were talking, Liang Wanwan, seemingly summoning courage from somewhere, quickly walked over.
She forced a gentle smile, but her gaze lingered on Yun Qingxuan. She deliberately raised her voice and said, "Young master, you may not know this, but this child is Shen Qingtang's son! Shen Qingtang has been married and had children for a long time, and her child is already so grown up. Don't be fooled by her appearance."
Upon hearing this, Yun Qingxuan not only didn't mind at all, but instead gave Pei Nian'an a gentle smile, reached out and gently ruffled his hair, the action natural and affectionate: "So you are Miss Shen Qingtang's child, no wonder you are so outstanding." His eyes were gentle, without a trace of disdain, but rather revealed genuine affection.
Pei Nian'an did not resist his touch. Perhaps it was Yun Qingxuan's ethereal temperament that made her feel at ease, or perhaps it was the sincerity of his admiration.
He actually took the initiative to ask, "Who are you? You seem very powerful."
“My name is Yun Qingxuan,” Yun Qingxuan replied with a smile. “I am just a wanderer who travels around and I can’t be called anything special. But you, at such a young age, have such courage and skill, and you know so many novel things. I would like to ask you for some advice.”
He looked at the corner of the pistol peeking out from Pei Nian'an's backpack, and at the composure he possessed that far exceeded that of his peers, and his interest grew even stronger.
The two chatted more and more congenially. Yun Qingxuan, with his vast knowledge, told Pei Nian'an many strange and wonderful stories from various places; Pei Nian'an, in turn, shared his own knowledge and experiences from modern times, leaving Yun Qingxuan amazed. Suddenly, Yun Qingxuan said solemnly, "Nian'an, you are exceptionally intelligent and courageous, and you know many things that others don't. I would like to take you as my disciple. Would you be willing?"
Pei Nian'an was taken aback for a moment, then his eyes lit up. He knew that Yun Qingxuan was no ordinary person, and being able to become his disciple would surely allow him to learn a great deal. He didn't agree immediately, but said seriously, "I need to ask my parents."
“That’s only right.” Yun Qingxuan nodded with a smile, his eyes full of anticipation. “I believe Shen Qingtang and her husband will definitely agree.”
Watching this scene, Liang Wanwan trembled with rage, nearly grinding her teeth to powder. She had intended to sow discord, but instead, she had inadvertently brought the two together as master and disciple, a result that left her both furious and resentful.
But there was nothing they could do but watch as Yun Qingxuan and Pei Nian'an chatted happily.
Feeling like an unwanted person, I could only turn and leave dejectedly.
Liang Wanwan stood frozen in place, watching Yun Qingxuan and Pei Nian'an chatting happily. She felt as if a huge rock was blocking her chest, making it hard to breathe. Just now, she had deliberately mentioned that Shen Qingtang already had children.
