Chapter 35 Untying the Ropes (2/2)

His face was filled with despair, and he didn't even dare to think of resisting.

Soon, Shen Qingtang and her group were taken into a dilapidated wooden house, with the windows and doors nailed shut.

There was only a small opening for ventilation. She had just been untied.

Lu Jiaojiao lunged at Shen Qingtang, but Shen Qingtang pushed her away, causing her to stumble and fall to the ground.

"You dare push me!" Lu Jiaojiao sat on the ground, throwing a tantrum and cursing, "You vicious woman! Coward! If it weren't for you, I wouldn't be suffering like this! You better find a way to get me out of here! Otherwise, I'll never forgive you for the rest of my life!"

Shen Qingtang looked at her coldly, her tone devoid of any warmth: "First, I didn't resist because I didn't want to die in vain. Second, you were arrested because you went up to the refugees and insulted them, hoping they would arrest me. Third, I have no obligation to save you; if you want to get out, find your own way."

Lu Jin and Lin Peirou huddled in a corner, watching Shen Qingtang's composed demeanor.

My heart was filled with unease.

They increasingly felt that Shen Qingtang was different from before, and that she was no longer someone they could control.

Lin Peirou, in particular, always felt that Shen Qingtang seemed to know what was going to happen next.

This made her even more panicked.

The atmosphere inside the wooden hut was extremely oppressive. Outside, the laughter of refugees and the weeping of women could be heard from time to time. Everyone knew that the people of the Northern Desert were looking for the "most beautiful woman" to be sacrificed for the mountain chief's amusement.

The women in the exiled group were all trembling with fear.

They didn't even dare to breathe loudly.

Su Lingyu and Lin Peirou huddled in a corner, their eyes filled with resentment and hatred as they looked at Shen Qingtang. In their eyes, if it weren't for Shen Qingtang's "meddling," they would have been furious.

Be a scapegoat obediently.

They would never be caught here, much less face the risk of being used as sacrifices.

Only Shen Qingtang showed no fear whatsoever.

Instead, he leaned against the corner of the wall, casually twirling grass clippings between his fingers, a hint of expectation even hidden in his eyes, completely out of place with the chaos around him, like a detached bystander.

Suddenly, Shen Qingtang moved her wrist and gently flipped it.

The rope that had been binding her fell to the ground with a "thud," having already been secretly untied.

Before anyone could react, she pulled out a small porcelain bottle from her bosom.

He quickly walked to Shen Minglan and Shen Mingzhao, poured out the ointment, and gently applied it to the wounds on their chests.

“Sister! You…” Shen Minglan and Shen Mingzhao saw her actions.

They were immediately alarmed, thinking they would be in pain for several days, but as soon as the ointment was applied, the severe pain in their chest instantly subsided.

The purplish-blue marks even faded at a speed visible to the naked eye.

"Hehe, this ointment is specially made by me, it's the most effective for treating external injuries."

Shen Qingtang winked at them, her tone laced with a hint of slyness.

Before the officials could recover from their shock, the sound of footsteps of refugees suddenly came from outside the door.

The guards have come to patrol! Shen Qingtang reacted quickly, twisting her wrist and instantly retying the hemp rope she had just untied back onto herself.

They even pretended to be tightly bound.

Then, she immediately reverted to her crooked and slanted appearance.

With drool hanging from the corner of his mouth and his facial features distorted beyond recognition, he looked exactly like a mentally challenged madman.

"It's an act! Shen Qingtang is faking it!"

Lu Jiaojiao saw through the flaw at a glance.

She screamed in panic, pointing at Shen Qingtang and shouting frantically, "She just untied herself! She's trying to escape! Search her! She's definitely hiding something!"
