Chapter 006: Being uneducated is terrifying
Everyone started moving, driven by a group of horse-riding escorts.
Eight escorts surrounded the group of more than 50 people like sheepdogs. Anyone who walked out of the group or walked slowly would hear the "crackling" sound of the whip.
The escorts had a mission. Yanzhou was nearly three thousand miles away from the capital, and they had to arrive within two months. If they failed to arrive, they would be punished.
We set off in the afternoon today. The escorts must have their own routes and stops, so we didn't stop to rest along the way.
The Mo family had only eaten breakfast and their house was raided before they had even had lunch. Now everyone was starving.
Feng Aoqing doesn't care about others, she cares about the two Baoers.
So she walked over, picked up Yuebao, held him in her arms, and walked to the edge of the team.
Observing that no one was paying attention to them, he took out a thumb-sized steamed bun from his pocket and stuffed it into Yuebao's mouth.
Yuebao stared with big eyes and looked surprised.
"This is a secret between you and mother. You can't tell anyone, not even Jingtao, okay?" Feng Aoqing lowered her voice.
Yuebao nodded obediently.
She ate five in total. When she was fed again, she shook her head, hugged her mother's neck and asked softly, "Mom, does my brother have any?"
She saw that her mother's arms were flat and she was afraid that her brother was not.
So good.
"Brother has some! Eat your fill." Feng Aoqing fed three more.
Feng Aoqing returned Yuebao to Jingtao and took Xingbao away. When the two children came back, they shook Jingtao's skirt and asked for water.
Jingtao was very happy. Her mother, who had been indifferent to her child before, now cared about her child because of her exile. She was willing to endure any hardship.
The original owner hated both people and dogs. Only Jingtao was slightly close to her. She was also the only maid who stayed in the yard and was not chased away.
After feeding the child, Feng Aoqing felt relieved and walked alone, thinking about how to use the things in the space.
If she took it out directly, she would definitely be thrown into the pond as a monster, and she didn't want the Mo family to know her secret.
It was obvious that no one in this family liked the original owner. Who knew if they would hurt her or even her children because of the few pieces of silver she had.
After some thought, she came up with several plans and decided to implement them depending on the situation.
To be honest, she was actually a little excited about this exile, as if she was playing a real-life game.
At dusk, the team finally stopped and the leader of the escorts ordered them to rest on the spot.
He designated a rest area and arranged four guards to guard it around the perimeter. If the prisoners stepped out of the area without permission, the guards would shoot them directly.
Feng Aoqing saw that it was indeed a good place for camping. It was right next to the official road, with several big trees and a small stream flowing not far away.
She walked quickly to Mo Beiyuan, stretched out her hand to stop them, and then led them to a tree on the right. She then asked Jingtao to bring the two Baoers to sit next to Mo Beiyuan.
Mo Nanzhou and Mo Mingyuan didn't know why, but seeing her serious look, they followed her without any prior arrangement, leaving Mo Beiyuan stunned.
Just as I sat down, I heard people under another tree screaming and jumping away. It turned out that they were covered with insects.
Mo Beiyuan stretched out his movable right hand to protect the children's heads, raised his head to look at the tree, and found nothing unusual.
"It's terrible to be uneducated. You only know how to grab big trees with dense leaves, thinking it will be cooler, but you don't know that the tree is infested with insects." Feng Aoqing laughed.
Mo Beiyuan understood that the tree was not the same species as the one above their heads.
Then they saw that she did not sit down, but walked to a nearby haystack to look for something. The two babies were curious and followed her to take a look.
Feng Aoqing pulled the grass, pulled out a few strands, braided them into two knots, and tied them around Baoer's hands.
"If you wear it, you won't have to worry about bugs biting your little faces!" She patted their chubby cheeks.
"Mom is so awesome!" Yuebao smiled and raised her watch in triumph.
Xingbao ran to show his father: "Dad, look, this is what Mom gave me. Stay by my side at night! Hold my hand, and the bugs won't bite you."
You are quite filial. Feng Aoqing was a little moved when she saw the loving father and filial son.
"Sister-in-law, give me one too! I attract mosquitoes the most. I have such a pretty face. It will be troublesome if I get bitten." Mo Nanzhou also stretched out his hand to her.
"You're attracting mosquitoes, aren't you? That's great! Today you can sleep next to your eldest brother and the children and lure all the mosquitoes away. Your brother is dying now, so you have to take on the responsibility of being the head of the Mo family's main house, understand!"
Feng Aoqing patted Mo Nanzhou's shoulder. When he came to his senses, he had already gone to get the food for the main house.
Mo Beiyuan laughed out loud for some reason. When he laughed, the wound started to hurt again, and it also felt a little numb and itchy. In short, it was very uncomfortable.
He looked at Feng Aoqing's back as she strode forward in a hurry, and felt that she was very different from the original legitimate daughter of the Feng family.
When Feng Aoqing came back, she got the steamed buns for the eldest family's dinner today. There were seven people in the eldest family, including Mo's mother, Mo Beiyuan's family of four, Mo Nanzhou, Mo Shuyuan, Jingtao and grandmother. She brought back a total of nine.
When everyone took it in their hands and looked at it, they had no idea what it was made of. It was neither black nor yellow, and it had neither the aroma of rice nor flour. It even smelled strange.
"It's rotten." Mo Nanzhou, who was extremely hungry, took a bite and quickly spit it out.
Chen Yilan threw the steamed bread in her hand at Feng Aoqing's feet and snorted coldly, "You are so capable on weekdays! This time you don't even have the ability to get a meal! Look, they are eating well, it must not be rotten! The rotten ones are given to you!"
Feng Aoqing picked up the steamed bun without saying a word and walked towards the prisoner who was resting under another tree.
There were four female prisoners huddled together, gnawing on the steamed buns in their hands.
Feng Aoqing found one of the female prisoners, exchanged the steamed buns in the female prisoner's hand for Chen Yilan's and her own, and took it back and stuffed it into Chen Yilan's hand.
"Other people's food isn't bad, so eat it."
Chen Yilan took a bite and found that it was not just sour, it was actually stinky, even worse than the previous one.
Feng Aoqing knew the smell was wrong when she picked it up just now. She picked the one that was a little dried on the edges, so it was much better than the one covered in the middle.
The other prisoners didn't say anything because they had already been in prison for a while before being exiled and had eaten even worse.
Chen Yilan was speechless now.
Everyone sighed as they looked at the steamed buns in their hands that they couldn't eat.
"Eat! You have to fill your stomach at least, otherwise how are you going to walk dozens of miles tomorrow? Jingtao, please pick carefully and feed me as many mouthfuls as you can." Mo Beiyuan said.
Haha, you guys can eat it, but my son and daughter can’t eat these things.
Feng Aoqing felt that the time was right, so she prepared to repeat the words she had prepared before, and then take out the things to exchange for food with the escort.
Suddenly, everyone heard the sound of "smacking, smacking" someone was eating not far away, so they couldn't help but turn their heads to look, wanting to know who was eating this stale steamed bun so deliciously.
