Chapter 17 The chief surgeon's life is more miserable than mine.
"Keep your voice down!"
Liang Xun noticed that Di Qing was turned to the side, seemingly eavesdropping on their conversation, so she pulled Song Ming out of the classroom.
Before leaving, she glanced at Luo Chuange, who was slumped over the table.
Liang Jun asked anxiously, "What's going on?"
“It looks like his arm,” Song Ming gestured. “Before he fainted, he told me that he felt his arm wasn’t in good condition. I just touched it, and his forehead was burning hot; it must be inflamed.”
In a game where life and death are at stake, any abnormal physical condition is definitely not a good sign.
Liang Jun pushed Song Ming into the classroom. "Quick, carry him on your back now, and we'll go to the counselor's office on the fourth floor!"
Before Song Ming could ask any more questions, he could only follow Liang Xun's instructions. After carrying the semi-conscious Luo Chuange on his back, the group ran up to the fourth floor.
Luo Chuange wasn't very heavy to begin with, and Song Ming carried him up the stairs while still having the energy to talk to Liang Jun.
"Why should we go to the counselor?" He was still wary of counselors, these kinds of monsters. "Shouldn't we go to the doctor?"
"Do you know where the school hospital is?" Liang Jun asked in return.
She was climbing the stairs too fast, and her breathing became a little unsteady.
"The location of the school hospital is not shown on the map, so searching blindly is like looking for a needle in a haystack; besides, the counselor said in the first class that we can ask them for help with anything that happens on campus."
As they were talking, the group climbed to the fourth-floor platform.
“When students suffer serious injuries or illnesses at school, the counselors are the ones who have the biggest headaches and are the most worried.”
Liang Jun thought of her fragile classmates in the real world, and that resentful counselor.
"Besides, do you really think that an NPC created by the system can't even fix an arm?"
Song Ming was not very knowledgeable, but he was persuaded by Liang Jun.
The group returned to the familiar corridor on the fourth floor.
Although it was a bright and sunny day outside, the corridor was always chilly and damp. The adrenaline rush from last night returned, and Liang Jun felt her heart pounding even harder.
For some reason, the further they walked into the corridor, the higher the humidity became. The sticky mist made them slow down.
At the end of the corridor was a cramped little room, the door of which seemed to be made of the same material as the dormitory door.
A metal sign hung crookedly above, its edges rusted, with the words "Counselor's Office" printed in the center.
"Put Luo Chuange down."
Liang Jun and Song Ming did not go any further.
She directed the other party to put Luo Chuange on the ground. Since he was in a semi-conscious state, Liang Xuan had to support his body.
Fearing that Liang Jun might not be able to support herself, Song Ming tried to reach out.
"How about I take it in for you?"
“No need,” Liang Jun refused outright. “These are our counselors. If you go in, who knows what might happen.”
Being second or fourth in the class isn't a big deal, but Song Ming is last in the class—even if Liang Xun had three heads and six arms, she probably couldn't save his life.
She lifted Luo Chuange up slightly.
Whether it was because her workouts were quite effective or because the guy was ridiculously light, Liang Jun didn't feel any pressure at all.
“Stand to the side,” Liang Jun nodded, “and strictly follow the rules. Do not wander off.”
Song Ming hummed in agreement, then moved away from the area directly in front of the door.
With Luo Chuan Ge on her arm, Liang Jun mustered her courage and knocked lightly on the door three times.
The wooden door made a dull knocking sound.
After three calls, a woman's voice came softly from inside the room, "Please come in."
Liang Jun pushed open the creaking wooden door and dragged Luo Chuange inside.
This was a very normal office, so normal that Liang Jun felt like she had returned to the real world.
A bookshelf filled with folders and teaching materials stood at one end, the curtains were drawn, several potted plants were growing on the windowsill, and even a few banners hung on the opposite wall.
Lina was still wearing her sexy business attire.
She sat at her desk, an unfinished work notebook lying open on it. Lina's face was directly facing the computer screen, the glaring white light making her face look ashen.
Upon seeing the person who arrived, Lina's face broke into a sweet smile.
She gestured for Liang Xun to sit opposite her, "Oh, you're the second-ranked student in the class, please sit down!"
Lina's gaze then fell on the unconscious Luo Chuange.
"What's wrong with our fourth-ranked student in the class?" She smiled politely, seemingly understanding. "Did something happen?"
Seeing that the other party did not show any obvious hostility, Liang Jun felt a little relieved.
She pointed to Luo Chuange beside her, looking like a well-behaved, model student.
"Report to the counselor: Luo Chuange, the fourth student in the class, accidentally broke his arm. It has been a major obstacle to his studies since he broke his arm, so we hope you can help him."
Upon hearing Liang Jun's reason, Lina was visibly stunned for a moment.
But she quickly adjusted her demeanor and remained as kind and approachable as ever.
"But Liang Jun, as far as I know, Luo Chuange isn't left-handed. He's only lost his left arm, but he can still write normally with his right hand. Why would that affect his studies?"
Although Lina was smiling, her smile was chilling, as if she was determined not to help.
It was obvious that she had hit a wall, but Liang Jun was still not giving up.
"Teacher, we study by turning the pages with our left hand and writing with our right. This greatly improves our efficiency in doing practice problems."
She decided to make it up.
As long as they spout nonsense in the direction of "studying hard," Lina won't do anything to them.
“Now that Luo Chuange’s left hand is immobile, his learning efficiency has been greatly reduced. He can do two fewer practice tests a day than other students!” Liang Jun said vehemently, as if she was truly working herself to the bone for her studies.
She pointed again at the unconscious Luo Chuange, "Teacher, look! Because of the pain in his left hand, Luo Chuange is now in a coma! He's fourth in our class! Are you really unwilling to help such a studious child?"
As it turns out, making things up really works.
This is especially true for NPCs with a single-threaded thought process.
Liang Jun's words not only moved herself but also Lina.
Upon hearing the words "love of learning," it was as if some emotional trigger was activated, and tears instantly welled up in Lina's eyes.
"Poor child..."
Lina sighed and shook her head, then pulled a first-aid kit from under her desk. "Here, let me see how badly you're hurt."
Liang Jun quickly supported Luo Chuange's body.
His severed arm had become limp and the flesh stretched by the bone was showing signs of ulceration; its condition was clearly worse than yesterday.
Lina opened her medical kit.
The contents of the first-aid kit were strange; they weren't the kinds of medicines you'd usually see in real life.
Lina took out a sticky, purple octopus and threw it onto the spot where Luo Chuange was most seriously injured.
The octopus's tentacles clung to his skin and slowly pierced through.
Although Luo Chuange was unconscious, he was still trembling with pain.
Then, Lina took out a piece of something that looked like snakeskin and used it to sling Luo Chuange's arm up like a bandage.
When securing it to its final position, Lina slammed the blood-red octopus onto the table, then tightly wrapped it around Luo Chuange's wound.
Liang Xun could see with her naked eye that Luo Chuange's arm had returned to normal.
"After Luo Chuange wakes up, tell him to take good care of his injury and not to move his arm unnecessarily."
Lina threw the unused snakeskin back into the medical kit. "After a day, you can remove the bandages and you'll be back to normal."
"I almost forgot about this!"
Lina slapped her forehead, rummaged through the medical kit and found a small bottle of black powder. Without saying a word, she pried open Luo Chuange's mouth and poured all the unknown powder into it.
"Alright, Luo Chuange will wake up in a little while."
Lina clapped her hands in satisfaction, then looked at Liang Jun, "Although you can't turn pages with your left hand yet, your studies can still proceed normally. I hope Liang Jun can urge Luo Chuange to catch up on all the missed lessons as soon as possible—I believe you can both do it, right?"
"Of course! It definitely will!"
Liang Jun provided ample emotional value.
With the problem solved, Liang Jun no longer needed to stay there.
She hoisted Luo Chuange onto her shoulder, bowed slightly to Lina, and said, "Then we won't disturb the counselor any longer. We'll go back to our studies now."
After seeing Lina smile and nod, Liang Jun left the office without looking back.
After the two left, Lina picked up the octopus that had been left on the table, opened her gaping maw, and swallowed it.
Song Ming, who was waiting outside, was extremely anxious. When he saw Liang Jun dragging Luo Chuange out of the office, he finally felt relieved.
"When you went in, there was nothing unusual outside."
Song Ming took Luo Chuange and skillfully carried him on his back. "I wanted to eavesdrop on what you were saying inside, but I couldn't hear anything even when I pressed my face against the door. And ever since you went in, this broken wooden door has become like a block of ice; my ears almost froze off!"
Liang Xun frowned slightly. She scanned Song Ming from head to toe and found that he seemed normal.
"Try not to touch anything unknown in the future," Liang Jun said sternly as she followed him downstairs, "especially anything not mentioned in the rules."
Knowing that Liang Jun was worried about him, Song Ming nodded and replied, "I know, Jun-jie."
Before entering the classroom, Liang Jun specifically instructed Song Ming to take good care of Luo Chuange.
After the two finished handing over the work, they returned to their respective seats.
As lunchtime approached, Di Qing turned around and invited Liang Jun and Gu Keke to join him in the dining area, but Liang Jun declined, citing her injury and inability to move around.
Di Qing was quite straightforward after being rejected. He left with the words "See you at the door" and went on his own.
Luo Chuange gradually regained consciousness. Liang Xun explained the ins and outs of his wound treatment process, but omitted the rather disgusting topic of "the surgeon being an octopus".
The group slowly helped the patient toward the dining area.
Not far away, they saw Di Qing circling around in place.
"You guys are really slow..."
Di Qing snorted in dissatisfaction, then took the lead and entered the dining area ahead of everyone else.
After entering, Liang Jun paid special attention to the time on the electronic clock.
The timing is normal; today is an odd-numbered day.
The process was exactly the same as yesterday—after several people finished signing in at the registration desk, they took their trays and prepared to line up to receive their meals.
The food servers were in the same state as before. Liang Jun tried several times to see their faces clearly, but to no avail.
Today's dishes were also perfect. The main course was beef noodles with gravy, plus an apple and a small piece of Black Forest cake.
The beef exudes a rich sauce flavor and is tender and juicy; it's Liang Jun's favorite spicy beef.
On odd-numbered days, leaders are present for inspections, but these so-called leaders simply walk around the crowded dining area with their hands behind their backs, occasionally nodding in approval to the students who are eating diligently.
It doesn't seem to pose any threat to the players, nor does it affect their ability to fill their stomachs.
One bowl of noodles was clearly not enough to satisfy Gu Keke's appetite.
After finishing her portion, she patted her stomach and looked to her left and right.
Di Qing was about to pick up the tray and turn to leave.
"Wait a minute—" Gu Keke hurriedly called out to her, her eyes darting around at her plate, "Why haven't you finished eating again?!"
What a waste! What a pity!
She was just about to ask Di Qing to give her the leftovers when she noticed a piece of cake with a bite taken out of it floating in his bowl of beef noodle soup.
Gu Keke felt sorry for him.
Even if you don't want to eat it, you can't just waste food like this...
Di Qing glanced down at Gu Keke and said, "I think the food smells bad today, I can't eat it."
"Smell?"
Gu Keke began to doubt her sense of smell and taste, "Why don't I smell anything bad?"
Furthermore, Leung Yung and the other two stated that the food was perfectly normal and had no strange taste.
It seemed that he was the one who had done something wrong, but Di Qing didn't seem to care at all.
"It's okay, I don't think it tastes good anyway." She waved her hand, clutching the last apple in her hand. "It stinks everywhere here, I'll go out first and wait for you at the door."
The group watched in bewilderment as Di Qing walked to the slop bucket and poured all the food he was carrying into it.
Then I saw her take a bite of the apple in her hand, then frown and throw it into the pile of food along with the apple.
strangeness.
Liang Xuan shook her head, indicating that she didn't understand the thoughts of young people these days.
The Black Forest cake in her hand exuded a rich chocolate aroma, and Liang Jun eagerly took a large spoonful...
"Cough cough cough!"
The bitterness of the dark chocolate reached deep into her throat, causing Liang Jun to choke and exclaim, "Why is it so bitter!"
Her lips were stained pure black with chocolate powder, and when she turned her head, she met Gu Keke, who looked exactly like her.
Gu Keke's expression was also not optimistic.
Her facial features were distorted, but her professionalism as a food vlogger allowed her to make an objective evaluation of the food.
"This cake is so bitter, more bitter than my life."
Gu Keke, as if she didn't believe it, put another big spoonful of cake into her mouth.
She was both amused and exasperated, as if she had accepted her fate and was destined to suffer.
"Does the chef at window number four not like sweets...?"
With tears welling up in her eyes, Gu Keke spoke, sending chocolate powder flying everywhere, "This is truly the most bitter dessert I've ever eaten..."
She wanted to continue crying to Liang Jun, but the system's rule notification suddenly sounded at that moment—

Author's Note: Sister Gan: Do this first, then do that, and your arm will be fine! Yes, that's it!
Ge Tou: (Looks down and sniffs) But why does it smell like the sea...?
