Chapter 37 Be Careful, Kind People
Only half of the players remained in the arena.
Gu Keke tugged at Liang Jun's sleeve, "Jun-jie, it seems like the final devouring is almost over."
Liang Jun looked up and saw that the five demons were floating on the seats, devouring the last five punished players.
During this pause, the remaining surviving players began their search for the next safety seat.
“Let’s go,” Liang Jun turned and walked towards other parking spaces. “Let’s find an empty spot quickly.”
After excluding seats in gray, black, white, and other distracting colors, only about half of the seats meet the criteria.
But in such a large venue, these numbers are not insignificant.
After walking a few steps, Gu Keke noticed a dilapidated car frame.
This looks like something from a scrap metal recycling plant. The steel frame joints are completely broken; let alone a person, even a light feather landing on it would probably cause it to collapse instantly.
Gu Keke excitedly grabbed Liang Jun's arm, "Jun-jie, there are exactly two seats here, one red and one yellow!"
Liang Jun stopped and looked up at the beam above her head.
A bright red parking light is shining continuously.
“The seat is correct,” Liang Jun said without moving, “but it has already been used.”
"Are seats still valid after they've been used?" Gu Keke asked curiously.
Liang Jun's eyes darted around. "The system didn't say anything, but so far no related hidden rules have been triggered."
"I'll give it a try."
Gu Keke lifted her foot to step onto the seat, "It should work. There are too many parking spaces that have been blocked by red lights. If we can only use them once, it will be more and more disadvantageous for us as time goes on."
Gu Keke took a deep breath and settled herself firmly in the red seat.
She gently stroked the irregular protrusion in front of her with her fingers, and with a little leverage, she stood up from her original position effortlessly.
Seeing this, Liang Xun sighed and said, "It's no use. It seems that the parking space is indeed a one-time use spot. We can only look for a parking space with a green light."
However, many red lights have already been turned off inside the venue.
As a result, the number of available parking spaces that meet the requirements is even smaller.
The three demons that had finished devouring the first ones have begun to move.
Liang Xun had been keeping a close eye on the situation. When she saw the demon resume moving, she decisively gave Gu Keke a push.
"Keep running towards Zone D! Zones A and B are no longer an option!"
They were currently in Sector C, but had not found any available seats; both Sector A and Sector B were currently occupied by the Bat Demon, and going there would be tantamount to suicide.
The parking lot only has four sections, so they could only continue their search in section D.
Gu Keke turned around and responded, but her gaze went past Liang Xun and began to sharpen.
"Sister Jun, Zhang Weiming is behind us too."
Including himself, there were five players behind the two of them.
However, there was still some distance between them. Judging from the looks of it, they must have just been moved to Zone C.
"Ignore them."
Liang Xun ran quickly, turned the corner, and nimbly arrived at section D. "Hurry up and find a suitable seat."
Area D and the dungeon entrance are not very close. It looks like no players have been here before. As far as the eye can see, there is almost a sea of green lights.
Out of the corner of her eye, Liang Jun spotted a parking space in the very front row.
Parked in this spot is a rather uniquely designed sedan, but perhaps "toy car" would be a more accurate description.
Because it's so small that it only has one seat.
That green, almost as glaring as the green light, was imprinted on the seats.
Liang Jun grabbed Gu Keke, who was still trying to move forward.
"You stay here, I'll continue looking for a spot up ahead. This should be the best place to subdue the demon. Once it's frozen, you should quickly run sideways, don't try to run vertically in front of the demon."
Gu Keke listened attentively to Liang Xuan's instructions, and her legs obediently stepped into the single-person carriage.
The interior of the carriage is very simple.
Directly in front of the bright green seats is a dense cluster of irregular little bumps.
There is this device directly in front of each seat.
It's like a small dining table on a high-speed train, but made of much better materials—it's practically the only brand-new item in the dilapidated vehicle.
Above this are seemingly randomly arranged three-dimensional protrusions.
Most of them were shapes that Liang Jun couldn't name. They were scattered strangely and irregularly in front of the seats, and their shadows could be seen on the flat surface from different angles.
Liang Jun didn't pay attention at first—but then her gaze swept over an irregularly pieced-together structure.
From her perspective, the shadow of a bat about to take flight is projected beneath this composite structure.
The rules flashed through her mind.
1. Bats are extremely dangerous; please stay away from them at all times and in all places.
"Don't sit!"
Liang Jun grabbed Gu Keke by the back of her collar, her well-trained forearm muscles straining. With her veins bulging, she finally managed to lift Gu Keke completely off the seat just before her buttocks touched the seat.
Gu Keke looked confused. "What's wrong, Sister Han?"
She stopped Liang Jun from pushing harder and obediently walked out of the carriage herself. "What happened? If you don't sit down soon, it might be too late."
Liang Jun gestured for her to come to her spot.
"Come and take a look, doesn't this shadow look like a bat?"
Even now, Gu Keke is still in the dark and doesn't know what happened; but when she and Liang Xuan stand at the same angle and witness the abstract bat shadow with their own eyes, Gu Keke instantly makes the connection to the rules.
"It's a bat!" she exclaimed in a low voice. "Don't the rules say we should stay away from bats..."
"Yes, so this is a faulty distraction. Once you choose this seat, you will be devoured by the demon."
Liang Xun's expression was not good. Clearly, she had already reached a conclusion.
The protrusion in front of the seat is also a detail that needs to be judged, which adds to the difficulty for them.
In addition, the bat's shadow can only be observed from a specific angle. Liang Jun tried staring at the piece of fabric, tilting her head slightly, and the bat, which was originally very obvious, became a blur in the diffused light.
Liang Jun recalled the seats they chose for the first time.
These items are standard. But when they initially made their selections, they didn't pay attention to these details at all and simply chose the rainbow-colored seats.
Looking back now, it's a good thing that neither of them stepped on that landmine; they were lucky to have survived.
Liang Jun felt a chill run down her spine.
While she was thinking, Gu Keke also realized the problem with the lighting.
"The lighting inside the parking lot isn't direct sunlight. How could you possibly identify all the interference factors in a short time using only this kind of lighting?"
Direct light...
Liang Xun's pupils constricted. "I understand!"
She quickly operated her system and pulled a flashlight from the storage space.
That "searchlight flashlight" I bought in the previous instance.
The familiar item had barely been placed in his hand when the system's lukewarm notification sounded.
[Remaining usage time: 23 hours and 42 minutes.]
Liang Jun quickly turned on her flashlight and ran towards the carriage with blue seats not far away.
She deftly rotated her wrist. The direct beam of the flashlight quickly swept across every corner of the protrusion.
Everything is safe.
"Coco! Come sit here!"
Liang Xun confidently handed over the single seat to her and instructed, "Open your system's shop and spend 200,000 points to buy this 'Searchlight Flashlight.' After that, we can split up and eliminate targets more efficiently!"
Gu Keke first turned off the overhead parking light, then quickly completed the mental transaction and called out to Liang Jun, who was still checking the seats, "Sister Jun, the store shows that this flashlight is the last one left in stock!"
Liang Xun meticulously checked the purple seats under her command, and after confirming that everything was in order, she also chose to step into this brand new seat.
"Is there one left? Did you buy it?"
After taking her seat, Liang Jun finally had time to respond to Gu Keke's words.
"I bought it."
Gu Keke waved the brand-new flashlight in her hand.
She just checked the protrusion in front of her again. This not only confirmed its safety once more, but also increased her familiarity with the procedure for the next step.
Liang Jun remembered that the system had mentioned before that the mall might experience stock shortages.
Could it be that this is something all players can enjoy together?
Just as she was thinking, a series of hurried footsteps suddenly came from the entrance of Zone D.
The blue-eyed girl also ran over quickly.
She seemed to have great stamina; she didn't even break a sweat during such strenuous exercise.
Perhaps unaware that they would encounter each other here, the three of them looked at each other and then all breathed a sigh of relief.
The blue-eyed girl didn't say much. She glanced at the green chair that had been previously excluded, and without much hesitation, prepared to turn around and sit down.
Don't sit there!
Several seats away, Gu Keke loudly stopped her, "People can die in that spot!"
The blue-eyed girl paused, but she wasn't frightened. Instead, she calmly looked at Gu Keke.
Gu Keke wasn't afraid of her. She raised her flashlight and waved it at her.
"Go to the mall and buy this flashlight. Shine it at all angles over the bump in front of the seat. Only sit down after you've made sure there's no bat-shaped shadow!"
The girl with blue eyes did not speak.
Her gaze shifted from Gu Keke's tightly gripped flashlight to Liang Jun standing beside her.
Liang Jun didn't seem inclined to speak, but she placed the flashlight in the most conspicuous spot in the carriage, where the blue-eyed girl could easily spot it.
Seeing this, the blue-eyed girl lowered her eyes.
Two seconds later, she had a brand new flashlight in her hand.
"Thanks."
As she walked past Gu Keke, she whispered her thanks.
When she reached Liang Xuan, the blue-eyed girl's voice became even softer.
“Your companion is nice,” she said, her high ponytail cascading down her delicate face, “but too kind. Be careful.”
Before Liang Jun could think further, the blue-eyed girl quickly walked to the back of Section D and began to screen the seats.
Seeing the other person walk away, Gu Keke quickly turned back to Liang Xuan.
"Sister Jun, what did she just say to you?"
Liang Jun thought for half a second, then said, "She didn't say anything, she just said you're very kind."
But Liang Jun didn't intend to tell her the second half of that sentence.
This is not a compliment.
The innocent Gu Keke smiled broadly when she heard the praise.
"Can't we really team up with her? She seems like a really nice person and quite capable..."
Liang Jun shook her head, "We've only met once, how do you know..."
Before she could finish speaking, the familiar spot once again echoed with the sounds of multiple people discussing something.
Liang Xun and Gu Keke looked over at the same time, only to find that there was an extra player in the seat they had marked as "dangerous".
Liang Jun remembered that the boy was following behind Zhang Weiming and looked to be a few years younger than her.
The boy seemed to be overly nervous, his whole body trembling slightly.
"Uncle Zhang, is this seat really okay?"
"No problem, you have to trust your Uncle Zhang."
Zhang Weiming still had a kind smile on his face. He reached out and patted the boy's shoulder, reassuring him, "Didn't we tell you? As long as you sit in the rainbow-colored seat and turn on the parking light, there won't be any problems."
After saying that, Zhang Weiming kindly pulled the light cord off the boy's head.
"Now there's no problem."
He nodded to the boy, his gaze sweeping back and forth across the seat in front of him.
"You stay here and patiently endure the next round of tracking. We'll go find some suitable seats in the back. When the time comes, just bypass the bat monster and come directly to us."
Zhang Weiming's words were like a pump.
The boy nodded vigorously after being greatly encouraged.
"I understand, thank you Uncle Zhang!"
