Chapter 91 Old Acquaintances Meet Again, Believe It or Not, I'll Kill You
"No." Liang Jun lowered her head and gave an awkward smile.
In such a stressful environment, how could she possibly find time for morning exercise? "I just went to bed too early last night, so I should have gotten up earlier today."
"That's perfect."
Xin Sang gestured to her and handed the wheelchair to Liang Jun, saying, "You push Summer, I'll go wake up the boys and make you some breakfast."
Liang Jun was about to wave her hand and say no, but they could actually just have a simple meal together.
But Xin Sang seemed to have anticipated what she was going to say and spoke first, "If you really want to go on the carousel, although it is easier to pass the level, it will not be easy to consume a lot of physical and mental energy - so you must replenish your energy before you go."
After saying this, Xin Sang walked out of the tent and headed towards the pine forest behind it.
Upon seeing Liang Jun rejoin the team, Gu Keke and Jiang Zhiling quickly stepped forward to greet her.
"Sister Jun, we're going to ride the carousel next, did you know that?" Gu Keke spread out the map in her hand for Liang Jun to see. "This place was recommended by Sister Xin. She said she went here with a group before and it's relatively safe, but it might take more physical effort."
Liang Jun nodded, "As long as I can save my life, what does it matter if I have to exert myself?"
She pushed her wheelchair outside the tent, where the warm sunshine bathed her.
"Let's go, it's a new day."
Xin Sang simply boiled a few wild eggs for them, along with some bread they had bought from the vending machine that they hadn't finished eating. This was the most breakfast-like meal they had had in the past few days.
After a simple meal, as everyone was preparing to depart, Xin Sang pushed Ge Lin, who hadn't said much that morning, in front of everyone.
"Should we have Ge Lin accompany you?"
"Ge Lin?"
Luo Chuange was clearly surprised. "He...he doesn't even have any other rides he hasn't tried besides the Ferris wheel?"
Others share this view.
They generally felt that those who had voluntarily stayed in the tent camp were probably the players who only had one Ferris wheel left to ride.
Noticing the questioning looks directed at him, Ge Lin scratched his head sheepishly.
"Actually... you guys should be at the same pace as me now. I only started working with Sister Xin after I completed five attractions, and I was still missing one except for the Ferris wheel."
Xin Sang followed up by saying, "Don't let Ge Lin's tough-looking appearance fool you, he's very hardworking and never makes a mistake. He's been with me for so long and has helped me deal with a lot of trouble."
There's no problem with people following them.
Liang Jun and the others exchanged glances, understanding each other without saying a word. After spending time with him, they also felt that Ge Lin wasn't the type to stir up trouble.
However, since it's an alliance between two teams, whether Ge Lin can successfully join depends on the opinions of Jiang Chunhua and the other two.
Jiang Zhiling still seemed distracted. It was clear that the Shao Feng incident had dealt her a significant blow.
Jiang Chunhua nodded indifferently. To her, one more person meant one more source of strength, so naturally, the more people the better.
Tang Cailei scanned Ge Lin from top to bottom and then from bottom to top, as if he were inspecting a piece of goods about to be shipped out.
"What will he do?" Tang Cailei scoffed.
"I……"
Ge Lin was a little confused by the question.
He clearly hadn't expected the other party to ask such a question.
"I can eat and sleep well. If you tell me to go east, I will never go west. I will never go against the captain's orders and will resolutely obey the organization's orders..."
"Alright, alright," Tang Cailei waved his hand impatiently.
He just wanted a pawn who could step in at crucial moments and save his life.
Now it seems that Green perfectly meets all his requirements.
"Come on, follow me." Tang Cailei no longer held back his gaze.
Seeing that he was completely accepted, Ge Lin chuckled and walked out. After a few steps, he turned around and waved to Xin Sang, who was standing in the tent camp.
"Sister Xin, I'm leaving now—"
-
After nearly two hours of hiking, they finally caught a glimpse of the "giant cotton candy building" that Sin Sang had described.
The snow-white, fluffy rooftops of the buildings were largely obscured by the nearby dark forest.
From a distance, it looks like the snow-capped top of a coffee.
Gu Keke always subconsciously associates food with food.
The thought that her stomach hadn't had a cup of milk tea or coffee for many days made her mouth water.
Gu Keke glanced at it longingly a couple more times before finally looking away.
"Um, let's continue..."
It wasn't until they reached the carousel that they were able to fully appreciate the entirety of this dreamlike building.
The cotton candy they had noticed earlier was actually the carousel's roof—but now that they were closer, it seemed even more enormous. The snow-white, cloud-like roof was shaped like an ice cream cone, with the tip designed into a playful curve, and there seemed to be a few scattered rainbow candies as decoration.
The connecting beam below features a gradient ring in macaron colors. Even in bright sunlight, it still shimmers with a dreamy and sweet glow.
Connecting the crossbeams to the carousel itself are rows of candy canes in Christmas colors. The candy canes vary in length and rise and fall with the carousel's varying heights.
As for the carousel, it exudes a fairytale charm—a silver-white unicorn that shines like laser light in the sunlight, a bronze sleigh that looks like it's in winter, a spring float that seems like something a princess would ride, and a festive pumpkin carriage covered in winding vines.
Every tiny detail above is enhanced by ambient lighting.
When everyone arrived, what they saw was a world like a fairy tale, shimmering with colorful lights.
"Sister Xin was right after all."
Qi Zhixia sat in her wheelchair, muttering to herself, "At first glance, it really doesn't seem dangerous..."
"But often, what looks safest is the most dangerous."
Liang Jun didn't linger and took the lead in circling around, saying, "Don't rush to sit down. Let's look around and see if we can find any clues."
The carousel is built in the middle of a dense pine forest.
If Xin Sang hadn't reminded them and noticed the corner of the building peeking out of view beforehand, they probably would never have found it on their own.
Stepping into the woods, one's vision is easily obscured by the dense foliage.
Liang Jun reached for the walkie-talkie beside her and pressed the call button. "The visibility here is poor, so don't go out alone. Also, be careful not to get lost. Remember to keep in touch via walkie-talkie at any time."
Apart from Liang Jun and a few others, the remaining four people did not have their walkie-talkie equipment.
To ensure the safety of the other party, Luo Chuange took Ge Lin, Lao Ren and Tang Cailei with him, while Wang Jianping and Qi Zhixia explored with the Jiang sisters.
Liang Xun and Gu Keke walked together toward the northeast of the main carousel building.
The ground was covered with pine branches broken by the strong wind, piled up in several layers.
If you don't know where to land, you might sometimes poke your foot.
Enduring the scrapes from the branches, Liang Jun noticed a figure rustling behind a pile of rotten leaves not far away.
She gestured for Gu Keke to be quiet, and the other immediately understood, trying to control the noise from her footsteps on the branches. The two of them crept stealthily, preparing to flank and encircle her.
The person crouching in the tree branch, still busy, clearly hadn't noticed the player who was intentionally making his footsteps lighter.
When Liang Yan grabbed him by the collar and dragged him out, he was still waving his hands and struggling in a daze.
"Let me go—let me go—"
At first, Liang Jun was skeptical that her arm strength had become so great that she could lift a person up by herself.
But once she saw the size of the person in front of her, she no longer had any doubts.
There was clearly a child in front of me.
To the naked eye, the child looked to be no more than ten years old. His hair was a mess, covered with the remnants of branches and leaves, as if it hadn't been groomed in a long time.
He was wearing a loose-fitting yellow suit, and there were several gaps in his front teeth. When he spoke, it was as if there was a blower in his mouth, with wind whistling through.
What are you people doing?
The little boy shrank back, seemingly trying to defend himself against the clump of branches behind him.
A child?
Then I'm not afraid anymore.
Gu Keke puffed out her chest and cleared her throat a few times. "Kid, are you a staff member of this carousel?"
This scene looks somewhat absurd—
Two adults surrounded a child who was not yet ten years old, asking him if he was a staff member of the amusement park and indicating that they wanted to ride the carousel.
The child remained neither humble nor arrogant, but simply kept protecting the person behind him.
"Yes, that's me!" He held his head high, which looked like a bird's nest.
Liang Jun clapped her hands twice. That grab had left her hands covered in small splinters.
“We’re looking for you,” she glanced at the yellow name tag on the little boy’s chest, “Then come with us.”
Why should I follow you—
Just as the little boy was about to retort, Gu Keke simply swept him up in her arms without any effort, lifting the frail child up by the waist.
Liang Jun scouted ahead, and didn't forget to use the walkie-talkie to report back to everyone in real time.
“We’ve found the staff,” she said, glancing back at the child struggling desperately on Gu Keke’s shoulder. “We’ll meet at the carousel entrance.”
They ventured deep into the woods, so much so that when they returned to the carousel entrance with the children, they were met with the waiting gazes of the crowd.
Just as Xin Sang had said, Ge Lin was extremely perceptive.
Finding that Gu Keke and Liang Jun were having some trouble dealing with the disobedient child, he didn't hesitate and, along with Luo Chuange, stepped forward to help take over.
The boy in the yellow coat only started to behave himself after he fell into Ge Lin's hands.
It seemed that they felt that this head of blue hair made him look like someone not to be trifled with.
"What exactly do you people want?!"
As soon as he spoke, his breath started to leak out. "The carousel is mine! I'm not letting you ride it!"
Goodness, he's still a rebellious kid.
Sitting in her wheelchair, Qi Zhixia suddenly exuded an air of authority. Remembering that staff generally resisted the complaint mechanism, she used this tactic again.
“We are tourists. If you don’t let us play, then we will complain about you.”
But to their surprise, this child was not the same as the staff they had encountered before. Upon hearing the word "complaint," the child not only did not quiet down but became even more disruptive.
Even Ge Lin almost couldn't control him.
"Complain! Complain! Go ahead and complain!"
The child had a fearless and reckless attitude. He was pinned to the ground and couldn't move, so he could only stomp on the ground twice.
It seemed that he had used too much force again, stomping his heels until they hurt, and the little boy visibly frowned again.
But his mouth was still sharp and unforgiving.
"I won't let you ride this! This is my carousel! It's a carousel that belongs only to me!"
Seeing that the yellow-clad child's approach was not working, Jiang Zhiling sighed behind the crowd.
Her voice sounded weak and listless, "Could you please send another staff member?"
This is exactly what Liang Jun wanted to ask.
She looked around again, and after noticing nothing suspicious, asked the child, "Besides you, is there anyone else in charge of this carousel? Can we talk to some other staff members?"
"Even if you find someone else, it won't make a difference!"
The child started waving his arms and legs again, shouting, "This carousel can only be mine! Only mine..."
Ge Lin clicked his tongue impatiently and gave the child a light slap on the bottom.
"Little brat, why are you talking so much?" His blue hair finally had a real deterrent effect. "If you talk nonsense again, believe me, I'll beat you to death."
The child in the yellow shirt remained silent.
He stretched out his dirty left hand and pressed the hidden button on his employee ID card.
Within a minute, a fair-skinned staff member in a green uniform appeared before them.
"Excuse me."
The girl's voice was cold, and she seemed to be in a businesslike manner.
When the new staff arrived to take over, it was Liang Jun and the others who were shocked.
Gu Keke pointed at the girl in green in disbelief.
"You...you're the employee who sells bumper car tickets, aren't you?!"
