Chapter 45 Evil Will Be Punished - Can I Beg You?
The carriage was eerily quiet, with only the breathing of a few people rising and falling.
With the car doors and windows closed, people inside the car cannot hear the arguments outside.
Leung Yung crossed her arms in front of her chest and leaned against the car door beside her.
She noticed that Zhang Weiming's hand, which was gripping the flashlight, was trembling violently, and this trembling then spread to his arm and even his whole body.
His eyes became lifeless and empty, staring blankly at the platform covered with protrusions.
He seemed unwilling to believe what he was seeing, so he turned the flashlight up to its maximum intensity, his trembling arms propped up on either side of the table, as if he wanted to gouge out his eyes and get right up to the dark figure.
Due to the angle, the office worker sitting next to the object did not notice anything unusual about the object's shadow.
His fearful gaze swept over Zhang Weiming, and in the tense atmosphere, the office worker's psychological defenses completely collapsed.
The beads of sweat on his forehead, like plump soybeans, were flung far away onto those few raised mounds, just like farmers scattering grain during the autumn harvest.
"Brother Zhang..." In a state of extreme panic, the office worker's voice became shrill, "What's wrong with you..."
"How dare you say that?!"
With a deathly pale face, Zhang Weiming finally found an outlet for his emotions.
He turned the flashlight upside down, like the most aggressive drummer in a band, and forcefully pounded the sharp end of the prop against the office worker's head.
Ignoring the other person's pained expression, Zhang Weiming increased the pressure with each blow.
"Why is this seat wrong?! Why is there a bat's shadow on this seat?!"
A smooth steel ball was deeply embedded in the end of the flashlight, emitting a cold gleam. Zhang Weiming did not restrain his strength; the steel ball left a steel mark on the office worker's skull.
The office worker was so dizzy from being punched that a warm current gushed out from his hair, but he didn't have time to wipe it away.
"I don't know either..."
He instinctively raised his hands, folded over his head, to block Zhang Weiming's descending attack. "I didn't have a flashlight at the time, so I could only see with my naked eye. I probably didn't..."
Before he could finish speaking, Zhang Weiming's final blow knocked him unconscious.
The office worker, propelled by inertia, slumped forward onto the platform. Blood flowing from the back of his head gradually submerged the bulges.
For Zhang Weiming, killing someone casually in a dungeon is nothing out of the ordinary.
His near-out-of-control state at this moment was not due to fear of taking another life under his command, but because the dark figure on the side of the vehicle frame was showing signs of getting up.
Five demons shared the food of one player, and even after licking the blood off the ground, they still couldn't satisfy their hunger, which had been raging for most of the game.
Zhang Weiming trembled involuntarily.
He knew perfectly well that as the next meal for the dungeon monsters, his life was already on a countdown.
The surroundings seemed to suddenly fall into a vacuum. Zhang Weiming felt his throat tighten, like a helpless drowning person, unable to even take the simplest breath.
Whether it was the dark shadow rushing towards him or the panic of impending death, he reflexively closed his eyes—Zhang Weiming felt only darkness before his eyes.
But the pain of feeling like your body is being torn apart did not come as expected.
Inside the carriage, Lao Ren watched helplessly as the dark figure was about to engulf Zhang Weiming, but vanished completely into thin air just before it made contact.
He clenched his fist even tighter, and his neatly manicured nails dug several bruises into his palm.
"Where's the monster?" He gritted his teeth, his voice a low, menacing strain. "Why didn't they eat him?"
Liang Jun remained silent. She seemed to have thought of something, and her previously furrowed brows began to relax little by little.
Those dark figures vanished like steam at sunrise, as if the cold dew had never appeared. The bloody scene seemed to have never happened, leaving only Zhang Weiming standing there with his head in his hands.
There's probably only one reason why all the NPCs in a dungeon could disappear—
[Current progress: Surviving until the countdown ends 1/1...]
[Congratulations, player! You have successfully completed the second level: The Desperate Parking Lot! Score calculation is currently underway, please wait...]
The system's voice echoed deep within their minds, and every player huddled inside the carriage breathed a long sigh of relief.
The blue-eyed girl sighed softly. A layer of fine sweat had seeped out on the back of her neck, and the strands of hair at the end of her ponytail were tangled up in a dense clump, but she herself was completely unaware of it.
Gu Keke's tense body instantly went limp, her chest heaving violently, revealing a greedy longing to finally breathe in fresh air.
With a slight push of her feet, her waist and hips were easily lifted off the purple seat beneath her.
"Sister, the restrictions have been lifted!"
Liang Jun moved around in her seat, stretching her legs which were somewhat numb and lacked blood flow.
This tense and uniquely formatted instance has finally come to an end—which also means they can go their separate ways.
Just as Liang Jun was about to push open the car door and get out, a burst of wild laughter outside made her quickly withdraw her hand.
Zhang Weiming's body was still trembling—
But at this moment, it was no longer fear, but excitement.
He turned his hands, which had been covering his head, to cover his face, so no one could see the true expression on his deeply lined face. But one thing was certain: that arrogant, unrestrained laughter came from beneath his hands.
Seemingly feeling his laughter wasn't flamboyant enough, Zhang Weiming slammed his hands heavily on the platform in front of him. The protrusions pressed coldly against his palms, yet he felt no pain whatsoever.
"Who said I wouldn't survive? Who said I wouldn't survive—"
He was like a drunkard, swaying as he got out of the car.
"I'm alive and well!" Zhang Weiming stopped in the area devoured by the demons and stomped his feet twice in anger. "I'm fucking alive and well!"
He seemed to have forgotten that a few parking spaces away, several surviving players remained. After venting his emotions, Zhang Weiming, disregarding the unconscious office worker in the passenger seat, swaggered out of the corner of Zone B.
The player survived for a total of 10,800 seconds and earned 10,800 points.
[Player's rule deciphering rate is 100%, totaling 100,000 points.]
After the system finished calculating the points, it failed to announce the final total points.
Just as Liang Jun was about to consider her savings, she heard the system making some kind of stumbling noise, as if it were making some kind of internal complication.
[The special nature of this level has been detected, therefore the reward mechanism has been successfully triggered.]
[Congratulations, player! You have received triple points.]
Your current points total is 920,912.
Although this dungeon was more thrilling, at least in the end, the triple points reward mechanism was unexpectedly triggered.
I still have over 900,000 points left, thankfully I haven't used too many.
Thinking of this, Liang Jun breathed a slight sigh of relief.
"Let's go, let's get off the bus."
Liang Xun gave Gu Keke a look, and the two of them got out of the car one after the other.
The two women, one on each side, also helped the girl with blue eyes out.
Old Ren seemed to still be shaken; his legs trembled as he got off the car from his side.
Apart from them, the empty parking lot was completely deserted in the background.
Liang Xun turned to the side and caught a glimpse of the other players besides these few—
The office worker who was beaten to the point of near death.
"I almost forgot about him..."
Seeing that Liang Jun could handle the blue-eyed girl all by herself, Gu Keke mustered up her courage, moved next to the office worker, and carefully nudged him.
She didn't dare to be too harsh in her tone, "Dude, wake up, the dungeon is over."
The office worker's body swayed from being poked, but his self-awareness did not respond to the other party.
Countless guesses flashed through Gu Keke's mind in an instant. Under the gaze of Liang Xuan and the others, she placed her fingertip patch on the office worker's neck.
Liang Xun's gaze never left Gu Keke's movements.
"How is he?" Liang Jun asked.
"He's still alive." Sensing the faint pulse in his carotid artery, Gu Keke's tense shoulders immediately relaxed. Her gaze then swept over the gash on his head. "He's lucky to be alive..."
They didn't know when the instance would be completely shut down. They also weren't sure if leaving the office worker alone here would allow him to wake up one day.
Seeing Gu Keke walk back to her side, Liang Xun turned to look at Lao Ren, who was still in a daze.
"Uncle, could you help me hold him back?"
A flicker of panic flashed across Lao Ren's pupils.
"Who? Who are you dragging? Where are you taking them?"
"that."
With both hands supporting the blue-eyed girl's body, Liang Xun could only slightly lift her chin and point in a direction to Lao Ren, "Just drag him to the parking lot entrance."
Based on the experience from the previous instance, all players should be automatically teleported back to their safe zone the moment they leave the instance.
They came in from the bottom of the steep slope, and in theory, they should have been able to leave the instance once they reached the bottom of the slope.
Sending the unconscious office worker back to his own safe zone is already more than enough.
Upon hearing Liang Jun's arrangement, Lao Ren didn't say much. Instead, he walked briskly to the dilapidated vehicle and, as if pulling a slaughtered pig, skillfully dragged the office worker across the cement ground.
After exiting the corner of Zone B, the familiar interior structure of the parking lot came into view. However, unlike when the checkpoint was in progress, the lights had returned to normal brightness, and it looked no different from an ordinary parking lot.
When they came out, Zhang Weiming was nowhere to be seen.
"He actually got away," Gu Keke tugged at the blue-eyed girl next to her again, unable to help but complain, "I thought the demon was going to devour him, but who knew he was so lucky, he actually managed to hold out until the dungeon ended!"
The blue-eyed girl replied breathlessly, "What happened to 'evil people get their just desserts'..."
Before she could even utter a self-deprecating laugh, Liang Jun chimed in, "Perhaps you've also heard the saying, 'What goes around comes around.'"
These words were like a shot of adrenaline to the hearts of the group, suppressing any thoughts of evil they might have had.
The blue-eyed girl, following in the footsteps of Liang Jun and Gu Keke, was also trying her best to support herself.
A fine layer of sweat appeared on her forehead, and her tone softened considerably.
"Thank you," she said, her head bowed, her long ponytail cascading down her sides. "If it weren't for you, I'm afraid I wouldn't even have my remains found by now."
Hearing the blue-eyed girl say that, Old Ren, who was following behind them and dragging the office worker along, choked up and echoed, "Yes, thank you so much..."
Liang Jun smiled slightly at them, while Gu Keke was even happier.
"It's nothing, it's nothing!" she smiled, her eyes crinkling. "It was just something we did on the side! We'll definitely save as many as we can!"
Amidst their conversation, the group had already reached the entrance to the parking lot.
Liang Jun and Gu Keke stopped first, and the blue-eyed girl also stopped. Lao Ren didn't think much of it and casually dragged the office worker out of the parking lot.
"Uncle, please wait a moment."
Liang Jun called out to him, "Let him out on his own first and see what's going on."
Old Ren nodded, half understanding, and then, following Liang Jun's instructions, threw the office worker out like he was throwing pork at a market.
After the last part of his body left the parking lot area, the office worker vanished as if he had evaporated into thin air, disappearing from their sight in an instant.
Liang Jun's suspicions were further confirmed.
“Once we leave the dungeon area, we will be teleported to our respective safe zones.” Liang Xun’s gaze fell on the blue-eyed girl. “Your injuries will be more severe after we leave the dungeon.”
Gu Keke glanced down at the blue-eyed girl's legs and noticed that her knees were bent in an extremely strange way. The bloodstains had completely soaked through her pants, which had dried and congealed into clumps.
Just thinking about it hurts, Gu Keke gasped.
"Where is your safe zone?" Liang Xun asked directly. "We'll come find you after the dungeon is over."
Gu Keke had the same idea.
Hearing Liang Xun say this, she nodded frantically like a wound-up toy, "Don't worry, we're not bad people."
These are clearly my two saviors.
Clearly, the blue-eyed girl was amused by Gu Keke's words. A hint of pleasure finally appeared on her bloodless face, and her pale lips curled up slightly as she forced a faint smile.
"My name is Qi Zhixia, you can also just call me Summer."
Instead of directly answering questions about the safe zone, she gave them her name.
Although it seemed like an irrelevant answer, Liang Jun knew that this was Qi Zhixia's way of showing that she truly trusted them.
"Your surname is Qi?"
Gu Keke's big eyes immediately lit up. "What a unique surname!"
"I am actually of mixed race."
Qi Zhixia smiled faintly. Her unique gray-blue eyes appeared even more breathtaking.
Just as Gu Keke was about to ask for her address, Lao Ren, whom they had been ignoring, spoke up quietly.
"Um, my name is Ren'e..."
All three of them turned to look at the sound.
Old Ren nervously rubbed his calloused hands, his mouth trembling as if what he was about to say was something very difficult to utter.
"Please, please, please take me with you..."
