Dongyue Temple
"Will you go with me?" Ye Yu asked.
"No!" Ye Zhuoran said, "I'm full."
"Haven't you eaten yet?" Ye Yu said.
"I've had enough of venting my anger!" Ye Zhuoran snorted and walked back to the room, ignoring the two of them.
"Grandpa, let's go and pack some for him later." Ye Jing'an said with a smile.
After eating and drinking, Ye Jingan lay on the bed. When it was late at night and everyone was asleep, it was easy for him to have a lot of thoughts. He was also tired recently, but he couldn't fall asleep. Liu Muze kept walking around in his mind.
Ye Jingan lamented that he had developed a bad habit and couldn't sleep without staying next to Brother Liu. What if Brother Liu really passed away one day, what would his life become? Thinking about it, Ye Jingan didn't want to continue sleeping.
At night, the cold moonlight shone through the forbidden area, as bright as daylight yet soft and not glaring. Under the cold moonlight, a dark figure leisurely strolled through the forbidden area, walked around twice, and then sat in a stone pavilion, lost in thought.
"Grandmaster, where are you living your celestial life? You broke your promise and didn't come to see me, so I'm also going to break my promise and not marry you." Ye Jing'an said with a faint smile, "Just kidding, I found someone I like. I really was led astray by the Grandmaster. I guess my sexual orientation changed immediately after I saw you when I was a child."
Ye Jing'an introduced his favorite person to the Grandmaster again, talking to the air. He had never seen the Grandmaster since they said goodbye, but Ye Jing'an always believed that the Grandmaster could hear him, but just didn't respond. Obviously, Liu Muze didn't have this ability and was sleeping soundly in the hotel.
After talking for a long time, Ye Jingan felt a little sleepy: "Grandmaster, please come and see me when you have time. I'm always bullied by Brother Liu. You have to come and support me and fight for my dignity. Don't wait until I'm dying before you come!"
The next morning, Ye Jing'an got up at six o'clock, washed, packed his things and went out.
"Where are you going?" Ye Zhuoran had just returned from his morning run.
"Aren't we going to the temple?" Ye Jing'an said.
"What the hell, it's not even seven o'clock yet! When have you ever gotten up early when you can sleep until noon?" Ye Zhuoran said in disbelief.
"Of course I have to take my grandfather's instructions seriously. I've even taken your money." Ye Jing'an waved his hand. "Goodbye, Dad!"
Ye Zhuoran: "..."
Ye Jing'an ran to the street and bought a portion of their delicious and special breakfast, then hurried back to the hotel.
"Brother Liu, I'm back!" Ye Jingan knocked on the door but he didn't respond. He opened the door and saw that he was still asleep. "Get up and have breakfast."
"Stop making noise!" Although Liu Muzhe has been doing something these days, he is just tired, both mentally and mentally.
After taking a shower and lying comfortably on the bed, without Ye Jingan and Qiu Zimu around, Liu Muze's whole world was quiet. Although he knew that Ye Jingan would definitely come to disturb him, he wanted to be quiet for a while. Unexpectedly, after just one night of peace and quiet, Ye Jingan came the next morning, and Liu Muze felt a headache.
"Get up. The breakfast I brought you won't taste good if it gets cold." Ye Jing'an pulled him up.
Liu Muze squinted his eyes and looked at the time. It was already past eight in the morning. "Why did you come back?"
"Of course it's something important. My father asked me to go to the temple." Ye Jing'an said.
"Then go ahead." Liu Muzhe fell down again.
"You're such a grown-up, and you're still lying in bed?" Ye Jing'an hugged him and said, "Hurry up and wash up. I'm too lazy to heat up breakfast for you!"
"I don't want to eat. I want to sleep."
"Eat breakfast and then go to bed."
Liu Muze covered his head with the quilt, unwilling to pay attention to him. Ye Jingan sat on the edge of the bed and chattered, pulling the quilt and patting the pillow.
Liu Muze was so annoyed that he got up very reluctantly, washed up and came back. There were already five breakfasts on the table. At a glance, they were all his favorites. There were also two things he hadn't tried. They looked good and delicious. Liu Muze picked up a crystal shrimp dumpling and stuffed it into his mouth. He looked up and saw Ye Jingan staring at him: "What are you looking at? Why aren't you eating?"
"Is it tasty?"
"good."
"Just promise me something." Ye Jing'an said with a smile.
Liu Muze raised his eyebrows slightly. It turned out that a hearty breakfast should not be eaten in vain. "What's the matter?"
"Come with me to Dongyue Temple."
"I don't want to go."
"When you eat someone's food, you're soft-hearted; when you take someone's food, you're short-hand
Liu Muzhe put down his chopsticks expressionlessly and was about to lie down on the bed to continue sleeping, but was stopped by Ye Jingan.
"You've already eaten it, and you still want to deny it?"
"How much is it? I'll transfer it to you."
"And what about the errand fee? I kept my hands warm all the way to prevent breakfast from getting cold."
"Give it to me together."
"Ten thousand!"
Liu Muze remained silent. Looking at Ye Jingan's smug expression, he smiled and said, "I saved you many times, 100,000 each time, and I'll deduct it from you."
"One hundred thousand?" Ye Jing'an's tone changed. "How dare you shout that!"
"Oh, your errand fee is ten thousand, is your life not worth a hundred thousand?" Liu Muzhe said lightly.
"..." Ye Jing'an didn't understand why he always lost to Liu Muze. He had never lost a fight with Ye Zhuoran. This Liu guy always had a way to defeat him. Ye Jing'an simply gave up the fight with Liu Muze and lay down on the bed without moving.
"Why are you sleeping on my bed? Get down!" Liu Muzhe said.
"I didn't have breakfast and rushed back in a hurry. I feel dizzy." Ye Jing'an covered his eyes with his hands and said weakly.
Ever since Liu Muze was tricked by Ye Jing'an once when he was a child, he never fell for it again. He used the same trick over and over again on different people. But what Ye Jing'an didn't know was that the person in front of him was the ancestor he had tricked since he was a child.
Liu Muze said in a tough tone, asking Ye Jingan not to sleep in his bed. Ye Jingan got up from the bed with grievance, and when he was about to reach his bed after taking two steps, he suddenly fainted on the ground.
"Ye Jing'an?" Liu Muze suppressed his smile and continued to eat breakfast. When he was almost done, he walked over, patted Ye Jing'an and said, "Get up and sleep in your own bed."
Seeing that he continued to pretend to be unconscious and motionless, which was quite realistic, Liu Muze pried open his eyelids. Ye Jingan couldn't control his eyes and laughed.
"Why don't you continue pretending?" Liu Muzhe laughed.
"I'm really impressed. I didn't eat breakfast." Ye Jingan sat at the table and picked up his chopsticks to eat. He had figured out Liu Muze's appetite over the past few days, and the leftovers were just enough for him to eat. "Let's go to the temple and have some fun together."
"I really don't want to go."
"Why, there must be a reason, right?"
"I'm tired and want to sleep."
"Then you sleep now and we'll go in the afternoon."
“…”
Ye Jingan begged and pleaded, and finally squeezed into Liu Muze's bed to sleep together. Liu Muze couldn't stand him and agreed to accompany him.
Ye Jing'an was in a good mood all the way to Dongyue Temple, chatting away. Liu Muze occasionally hummed in agreement, but he felt that Ye Jing'an had been easier to deal with when he was younger; at least he could have been disciplined. This unfortunate child had grown into a tall and strong man, full of trouble and difficult to deceive.
After two bus transfers and a few kilometers of walking, they finally arrived at a magnificent temple. It had recently undergone a renovation, and the bright, fresh paintwork on the building was eye-catching. The architectural style hadn't changed much, largely retaining the Yuan Dynasty's rules and layout.
The Dongyue Temple, facing south, is constructed according to imperial standards, with three entrances and five gates. The Dongyue Palace is centered, surrounded by the various ancillary buildings for the various administrative departments under the Dongyue Emperor's jurisdiction. The roof is clad in yellow-green glazed tiles, with vivid carvings and animal portraits. Sunlight shines on the glazed tiles, creating a shimmering effect.
"I'll wait for you outside." Liu Muzhe said.
"Now that we're here, let's go in together." Ye Jing'an pulled Liu Muzhe into the hall.
The main hall of the Dongyue Temple is located in the center of the temple, with the inscription "东月天齐" (Dongyue Tianqi) on the gate. Inside, stone pillars with coiled dragons stand at the four corners of the hall, surrounded by a corridor of stone pillars carved from sandstone. The walls are covered with exquisite murals, and a seated statue of the Dongyue Emperor stands in the center.
"Brother Liu, wait a moment, I'll hand the box to the host." Ye Jing'an said.
The statue of Emperor Dongyue in front of him overlapped with the figures of the gods in his memory. Liu Muzhe frowned, and the unbearable past flashed through his mind like murals on the wall. He clenched his fists behind his back.
After delivering the box, Ye Jingan walked in from the side door with the incense. Seeing Liu Muze's face was a little bad, he asked: "Brother Liu, what's wrong with you?"
Liu Muze came back to his senses. He felt a sense of suffocation in this hall, neither rising nor falling. It was so oppressive that it made him feel upset. He glanced at the incense in Ye Jingan's hand, turned around and walked out of the hall.
"Brother Liu?" Ye Jing'an chased after him, "Why are you leaving? Don't you want to pay your respects?"
"If the gods can't save the people I care about, what's the point of me worshipping them?" Liu Muzhe said in a cold tone.
The master always told Liu Muze many legendary stories about gods and immortals. He had worshipped them piously since he was a child. When the master passed away, he told him not to be sad because the master had become a god. Liu Muze respected the gods even more. Although he lived a lonely life, he never asked for anything from the gods.
It was not until the end, when he ascended to heaven, that he realized his master had not become an immortal. When he knelt before the immortal he had worshipped countless times since childhood, willing to give up everything just to save Ye Chen, the result he got made him completely disappointed in the immortals.
He didn't blame anyone, nor could he blame anyone. It was just that he could no longer believe in the gods like he did when he was a child. The gods no longer meant anything to him.
"Brother Liu, let's go." Ye Jing'an looked at Liu Muzhe's red eyes and felt very guilty.
He liked the person in front of him, but knew very little about her life experience. He wanted to accompany Liu Muze all the time and not let him be alone, but an inadvertent word or a sudden thought would always bring back the most painful memories in Liu Muze's heart.
"Didn't your father ask you to burn incense?" Liu Muze sighed and said, "Come on, I'll go with you."
"No need." Ye Jing'an held him back and said, "If a god can't make you happy, what's the point of me worshipping him?"
Liu Muze paused, and the breath of anger he had been suppressing suddenly dissipated. He lowered his eyes, smiled faintly and said, "You can make me happy."
"Then I'll worship myself." Ye Jing'an pulled Liu Muze out, "Let's go home!"
