Wang Zhiyi
Ye Jingan brought Liu Muze to the busiest snack street in Anhuai City. Looking at the various snack shops on both sides of the street, he asked, "Brother Liu, what do you want to eat?"
"The osmanthus wine and milk tea you bought me before." Liu Muzhe said.
"Okay." Every store was crowded with people. Ye Jing'an asked Liu Muzhe to wait for him by the green belt where there were fewer people, and he squeezed into the crowd to place an order.
Qiu Zimu had just bought a few skewers of grilled squid and squeezed out of the crowd. He saw someone standing in the distance who looked very much like Brother Liu. He walked over and saw that it was indeed him. Qiu Zimu smiled and called out, "Brother Liu! Long time no see, why are you here?"
"Well, wait for Ye Jing'an." Liu Muzhe said.
As they chatted, a tall man approached from the other side of the crowd. He was wearing a gray casual suit, and the pale yellow beads dangling from the silver necklace around his neck stood out against his white underwear. He turned to Qiu Zimu and said, "How did you disappear so quickly? I've been looking for you for so long."
"Oh, I saw Brother Liu. He is the friend I mentioned to you before." Qiu Zimu said with a smile.
Wang Zhiyi glanced at Liu Muze, a cold light flashed in his eyes, and he said in a deep voice: "Hello, Wang Zhiyi."
Liu Muze said with a cold face: "Liu Ziyuan."
The two glared at each other.
"Eh? Old Qiu, you're here too!" Ye Jing'an snatched the grilled squid from Qiu Zimu's hand, "Thank you."
"Bad luck!" Qiu Zimu rolled his eyes.
Ye Jingan chuckled a few times and handed the squid and milk tea to Liu Muze: "Brother Liu, I told him to add less sugar, try it."
Liu Muzhe took the milk tea and stared at Wang Zhiyi without moving his eyes.
Ye Jingan just noticed that there was a man standing next to Qiu Zimu who looked quite handsome, so he asked, "Old Qiu, is this the friend you mentioned?"
Qiu Zimu nodded.
Seeing the two still staring at each other, Ye Jing'an unhappily stepped between them and said with a smile, "Hey, you're quite handsome! My name is Ye Jing'an, and I'm Qiu Zimu's good brother."
"Yeah, Zimu often mentions you. Thank you for taking care of him. My name is Wang Zhiyi." After Wang Zhiyi greeted Ye Jingan, she handed the crispy pork she bought to Qiu Zimu, "Eat this, it tastes better than your squid."
Seeing Liu Muze still staring at him, Ye Jing'an stood in front of him and said in an unhappy tone, "Isn't he just taller and more handsome? Why do you keep staring at him?"
Liu Muze recalled that when he was staring at Yuan Kexin in the hospital, Ye Jingan also blocked his way to prevent him from looking. He felt secretly amused and teased him, "What's wrong with taking a look?"
"Then you take a look." Ye Jing'an turned and left.
"Why are you still angry?" Liu Muze chased after him with a sullen laugh, "I was just teasing you, he's a demon."
"Monster? What is his purpose in approaching Qiu Zimu?" Ye Jing'an looked at Wang Zhiyi.
"I don't know yet. Qiu Zimu has his scent on him. I suspect Qiu Zimu took something from him, so he came to my house." Liu Muzhe said.
"Then let's follow them and see what he wants to do." Ye Jing'an said.
Liu Muzhe nodded.
After strolling through a snack street, Wang Zhiyi did not show any ill will towards Qiu Zimu, but just kept buying him all kinds of delicious food and feeding them to him.
Ye Jingan thought about Wang Zhiyi's behavior, and wondered how it was similar to his. Ye Jingan invited her to a coffee shop to chat and asked Qiu Zimu how they knew each other.
Qiu Zimu recalled what happened after Ye Jingan left.
After he and the corpse baby finished their meal, the corpse baby refused to enter the jade buckle and kept staring at his insect jar, wanting to eat insects. Qiu Zimu had no choice but to take it to the mountains to catch insects. It just so happened that Ye Jingan had to go back to recuperate, so he had time to look for good poisonous insects.
Qiu Zimu found that after Ye Jingan left, no one was talking in his ear. He felt very bored. Looking at the dead baby on his shoulder, he muttered to himself: "It would be great if you could talk. Then we could chat."
"I can." A sharp and slightly hoarse voice reached Qiu Zimu's ears.
He tilted his head and asked, "Who's talking?"
"Me." The corpse baby laughed.
"Damn, you can talk!" Qiu Zimu said in shock, "Why couldn't you speak before?"
"I couldn't tell you before. The one with long hair fed me blood, and I'm slowly turning into a child." The corpse baby touched his face. "Don't you notice that I've become more beautiful?"
Qiu Zimu looked carefully and shook his head: "No."
Corpse baby: “…”
"It's getting cold now, so there aren't many insects." Qiu Zimu fed him a small grasshopper, "You should eat less."
"I know where the bugs are. Just follow my instructions." The corpse baby sniffed and pointed to the hill in the east.
This area didn't seem much different from the previous mountain. Even the vegetation was similar, and there weren't any insects in the grass. Qiu Zimu wondered if there really were a lot of insects here.
The corpse-baby nodded, jumped down to the ground, and dug with his hands, unearthing a plump white grub. Not far away, beneath a rotting bird carcass, he spotted a few burial beetles. He grabbed them and tossed them to Qiu Zimu, saying, "I ate your poisonous insects before, so this is compensation."
"Hey, this is a good breed!" Qiu Zimu quickly put the burial armor into the Gu jar, picked up the corpse baby and said, "From now on, you will follow me and I will raise you!"
The dead baby sat on Qiu Zimu's shoulder, and Qiu Zimu would dig wherever he pointed.
"You've caught so many bugs, your sense of smell is so good." Qiu Zimu said with a smile.
The corpse baby jumped down, knocked on a dead tree, sniffed it from head to toe, and said to Qiu Zimu, "There's a big one hidden in here."
Qiu Zimu looked around and saw that the area was indeed suitable for a large beetle. There was also a lot of sawdust, which he guessed was the traces of beetles gnawing. He picked up a knife and shaved off the rotten wood chips, looking for the beetle's burrow. After cleaning for a while, he actually found a large wormhole, which looked like it was occupied by a large creature. Qiu Zimu told the corpse baby not to eat it, because he wanted to keep it.
Qiu Zimu dug along the wormhole, almost digging through the dead tree, before he saw a tentacle peeking out from deep within the wood. He gently pulled the tentacle out and was stunned when he saw the beetle, then immediately shouted excitedly, "It's a three-comb beetle! It's a three-comb beetle! Ahhhhhh... my big baby!"
Qiu Zimu calmed down and noticed that the three-comb beetle didn't seem to move at all, looking a bit like it was dead. He put the three-comb beetle on the ground and it didn't run away. He picked it up and looked at it. The lower lip whiskers were still moving. Qiu Zimu guessed that it was sleeping and hadn't reacted yet, or maybe it was sick and a little weak.
He filled the Gu jar with some rotten sawdust and placed the three-comb ox in it, thinking he'd go back and give it a good look to see what it was like. Having caught this treasure, he didn't want to look for any other insects. The corpse baby was already full, so he squatted on the ground, packed up his gear, and prepared to go back.
"What are you doing?"
Qiu Zimu looked in the direction of the voice and saw a boy about his own age, with delicate features, fair complexion, and a youthful glow. His features were straight and deep, revealing a lonely and cold air.
When the corpse baby saw him, it immediately shrank back into the jade buckle.
"What are you daydreaming about?"
"Oh, my name is Qiu Zimu." Qiu Zimu said with a silly smile.
"I didn't ask you what your name is, I asked you what you are doing?" Wang Zhiyi said coldly.
"Oh, I'm catching bugs." Qiu Zimu looked embarrassed.
"Oh? Catching insects..." Wang Zhiyi glanced at the Gu pot, "Are you a Gu Master?"
"Yes. What are you doing here?" Qiu Zimu asked.
"My friend was here to play before. I just heard that there is a human trafficker in this mountain who has captured a lot of people. I was worried that something might have happened to them, so I came here to take a look." Wang Zhiyi said.
"Why would the human traffickers run up the mountain? They must have made a mistake!" Qiu Zimu looked around. He had walked around most of the mountain but didn't see any place suitable for hiding people.
"Yes, I saw him." Wang Zhiyi stared at Qiu Zimu.
"I didn't see any human traffickers, so I'm not afraid if there are any. I'm pretty good at witchcraft and can protect you." Qiu Zimu said with a smile, "Have you found your friend? I can help you look for him."
"Protect me?" Wang Zhiyi snorted coldly, "You Gu Masters only know how to harm people, don't let me die without knowing how I died."
"Who said that? There are good and bad Gu Masters!" Qiu Zimu said unhappily.
"Hmph, alright." Wang Zhiyi raised an eyebrow. "Can you show me what bugs you caught?"
Qiu Zimu handed the Gu pot over. The newly caught insects all became agitated when they saw Wang Zhiyi, flapping their wings and trying to fly out. Qiu Zimu quickly covered the Gu pot and said with an awkward smile, "I haven't practiced yet, so I'm a little disobedient."
"Are you just catching these little things? There are big ones in this mountain." Wang Zhiyi said.
"We caught a three-comb bull." Qiu Zimu handed it to him to see.
Wang Zhiyi's face instantly darkened: "Why did you catch it?"
"Keep it up." Qiu Zimu smiled.
"It's dead, just throw it away." Wang Zhiyi said.
"It may seem like it is sleeping, or it may be sick. We can't throw it away, otherwise it will be dismembered and eaten by ants. I will go back and take a look. If it is sick, I can still save it." Qiu Zimu put the three-comb cattle back into the Gu jar and took good care of it.
"Why save it? Aren't these little bugs everyone wants to step on? It's lucky it wasn't stepped on to death. Besides, saving it from being trained as a poisonous insect by you, and keeping it locked in a jar under your control every day, is worse than being stepped on to death. Why don't you give it to me? I can't bear to see it tortured to death by you." Wang Zhiyi said.
"No! Have you been bullied by a Gu Master? Why do you have such a big misunderstanding about us? My Gu insects are living well here with me. They are much better off than in the wild. They are willing to stay here, and I won't ask them to work for me casually! They are all my treasures, I will protect them!" Qiu Zimu said.
"Did they tell you they are willing to stay here with you?" Wang Zhiyi sneered.
Seeing that he was not convinced, Qiu Zimu took out the corpse insect and put it back, releasing the control and said: "Look for yourself, it can obviously run away now, but it is still staying by my side!"
Wang Zhiyi heard the corpse insect say to him that this person was quite good. He had no worries about food and drink when he stayed with this big fool. He could go out and stretch his legs anytime and anywhere. His life was quite comfortable. Wang Zhiyi blinked and asked again: "Will you protect them?"
Qiu Zimu nodded.
