Chapter 103 You're Not My Husband?! (14) "Remember your..."
After a busy morning and lunch in the cafeteria, Fu Li felt a little sleepy. She yawned and leaned back softly on the sofa cushions.
Luo Ze was working at his desk when he saw this and subconsciously said, "Tired? There are beds in the back lounge, go lie down there for a while."
After he finished speaking, he seemed to suddenly realize something and was surprised that he had said such a thing. Wouldn't it have been better to just let Lin Xi take this troublesome guy back?
Fu Li was about to do as he said. Just then, the secretary's voice came from outside the door: "Mr. Luo, Miss Vivi is here."
The moment he heard those four words, the Beta youth instantly perked up as if struck by lightning. It was because he had just heard this name from the butler not long ago—Lilith Willy, Lozer's fiancée.
Before Luo Ze could react, he saw the person on the sofa's previously hazy eyes instantly clear. The person turned and looked at him with watery eyes, a mixture of grievance and reproach in their gaze.
A sudden, inexplicable sense of guilt welled up in the man's heart.
Before he could even process what was happening, the door opened, and a beautiful mixed-race Omega woman walked in. Her deep, jewel-like eyes sparkled with a beautiful light, like two vast blue oceans. Her face was perfectly fair, with delicate features, like a porcelain doll.
Her gaze first fell on Luo Ze, who suddenly stood up, and then, as if she had just noticed that there was another person in the office, she turned to Fu Li. Her thin pupils reflected the handsome figure of the Beta youth, and her indifference revealed a scrutinizing meaning.
The assistant seemed to sense the tense atmosphere in the office. His mind raced, and he broke the silence to ask the president, "Mr. Luo, Ms. Vili is here to discuss project matters with you. Perhaps I should take this gentleman out first?"
Luo Ze's temples throbbed slightly, and he inexplicably felt that the situation before him was extremely troublesome. He raised his eyes to look at Fu Li, but finally shook his head at his assistant: "No need, you can go out first."
After the assistant closed the door, only Fu Li, Luo Ze, and Lilith remained in the room.
Out of politeness, and not wanting to appear like a resentful husband, Fu Li stepped forward and extended his hand to Lilith with a polite smile, saying, "Hello, Miss Lilith, my name is Fu Li, Li as in dawn."
The woman glanced down at the hand he offered, paused for a few seconds before reaching out and gently pinching his knuckles with three fingers for a moment before quickly withdrawing her hand.
Her voice was melodious and gentle as water as she spoke in standard Mandarin: "I remember you, the Beta I met at Aze's house that day."
Her casual tone made it seem as if Fu Li were a servant of the Luo family.
Fu Li maintained her smile. Just as she was about to say something, Lilith gracefully turned around, smoothing her flaxen braid by her ear. Her beauty was both delicate and alluring, and a smile played on her lips as she said to Luo Ze, "Can we begin our discussion now?"
Alpha glanced at Beta beside him, his eyes indifferent: "Of course."
For the next few hours, Fu Li nestled on the sofa in the CEO's office, listening to the two men at the table negotiating the project. Their styles were very similar: cool, calm tones, concise and efficient language, and their exchanges were swift and decisive. While lacking the sweet intimacy of lovers, they possessed a palpable tension, like two equally matched rivals.
The young man on the other side of the room watched this scene with growing resentment. His eyes welled up with tears.
He should be her boyfriend, her husband, so why does he seem more compatible with someone else now? They're an enviable engaged couple in the eyes of outsiders, and he, the original wife, looks more like the mistress.
Loze noticed that Beta seemed a little off.
Although the matter wasn't completely settled, he still said to Lilith, "Miss Vili, let's discuss the remaining details another time. I'll have my assistant see you out."
Lilith keenly sensed that Luo Ze did this to consider the feelings of the other person present. A hint of surprise arose in her heart—how could the usually arrogant and aloof young master Luo suddenly possess such delicate sentiments?
That's really interesting.
She wasn't oblivious; before leaving, she deliberately glanced back at Luo Ze with a smile and said coquettishly:
"By the way, you smell wonderfully of cedar."
Her gaze inadvertently drifted towards Beta on the sofa, and she gave a seemingly provocative smile before striding away in her high heels.
Loze's brow furrowed, and he immediately realized that Lilith's actions were intended to sow discord. Just as he was about to feel a headache coming on, he saw a look of confusion flash across Beta's face, and he turned to ask:
"Aze, aren't your pheromones supposed to be gardenia? Why would she say they're cedar?"
Luo Ze's eyes instantly darkened, his slightly deepened pupils sharp and unfathomable, and a subtle change occurred in the expression on his handsome face.
The only difference between him and Luo Ran is their pheromones. Luo Ran's pheromones smell like gardenias, while his pheromones smell like cedar, but Fu Li can't smell them.
So when Fu Li looked up again to see the expression on his face, the Alpha had already returned to his indifferent and detached state, and said casually, "Ah, that's the scent coming from the suppression patch."
Upon hearing this, Fu Li was shocked and immediately bristled. Without saying a word, she rushed forward, grabbed the man's collar, and sniffed the back of his neck, but naturally couldn't smell anything.
"What smell? She can even smell the scent emanating from the patch, how close could she be to you?!"
Seeing the wife's furious reaction, as if her husband had cheated on her and she was being entangled by a vixen, Luo Ze could only explain to her that this was a gas targeting pheromones, which only Alphas and Omegas could smell, and that it was a function of the newly improved suppression patch.
---Of course, it's all made up.
Fu Li was unaware of the feminine hygiene products used by A and O, and thought they were genuine.
After finally calming her down, seeing Fu Li's adorable, puffed-up little rabbit-like expression as she snuggled up on his lap, he finally felt relieved.
The next moment, however, Luo Ze suddenly realized---
Was I stealing Fu Li's love from Luo Ran by doing this?
At first, he could say that the other party had mistaken him for someone else, and that he was temporarily concealing the truth because of his mother's instructions. But in just a few days, he seemed to be increasingly infatuated with Beta's loving gaze, and even subconsciously tried to hide clues that might expose him, pretending that he really was the other party's amnesiac lover.
But after regaining his senses, Luo Ze was perfectly aware that Fu Li's affection, his jealousy, his coquettishness, his tantrums, and all those vivid expressions in his every smile and frown were all because of Luo Ran.
He felt more like he was wearing a skin called "Luo Ran," constantly stealing everything that should have belonged to his younger brother from the Beta.
This behavior is undoubtedly despicable.
But then again, if Luo Ran hadn't been such an irresponsible coward, Fu Li wouldn't have traveled thousands of miles to find her lover. Right now, that person is still hiding somewhere abroad like a rat in a gutter, completely unconcerned about what his abandoned lover might face alone.
This kind of person is utterly useless. Compared to himself, he's far less deserving of a Beta's love, isn't he?
At this moment, the sun was tilted slightly, and the sunlight streaming through the floor-to-ceiling windows could only reach a few corners of the room.
In the shadows, two figures overlapped.
At the cold, aloof silver-blue desk, a tall, handsome Alpha sat with a delicate-looking Beta on his lap. His arm, resting lightly on the Alpha's side, acted like an invisible shackle, locking the Beta in his embrace. His deep, dark eyes, backlit by the light, held an unfathomable depth. His hand gently stroked the Beta's slender back as he spoke softly:
"Ah Li, can I ask you a question?"
"Do you prefer the me before I lost my memory, or the me now?"
Fu Li was stunned for a moment, and the rabbit ears on her head, which were invisible, stood up. She immediately became alert: This is a question that could kill you!
After racking my brains for two seconds, I could only answer: "I like them all..."
Alpha was clearly not satisfied with the answer. He placed his broad hand on Alpha's shoulder and pressed on, "If you had to choose one, would you prefer to be with the old me or the current me?"
Listening to his drawn-out tone, Fu Li felt a cold sweat break out on her back for some reason.
But to appease his lover, he obediently said, "Then... let's keep you as you are now."
The words had barely left his mouth when the man let out a soft chuckle. It wasn't the previous cold, mocking laugh, but a genuine, heartfelt chuckle radiating pure pleasure. His eyes narrowed to slits, and the corners of his lips curled into an uncontrollable upward turn.
This was the first time Fu Li had seen such a light and joyful smile on his face since their reunion.
Alpha took a breath, his expression gradually calming down, with a slight upward curve remaining at the corners of his eyes and lips.
He gazed intently at the person before him, staring straight into those pure eyes, his voice calm yet seemingly concealing a profound depth:
"Fu Li, you must remember the choice you made today."
"You absolutely cannot have regrets in the future."
---
At the same time, in the back seat of a silver Porsche, Lilith Wiley, who had just left the Lowe Building, was leaning back with her eyes closed, when she suddenly opened them.
A thoughtful look flickered across his azure pupils as he murmured:
"Gardenia... I remember that Luo Ze's runaway twin brother's pheromones were like gardenias..."
After thinking for a moment, she gradually narrowed her eyes, picked up her phone, made a call, and said to the other end:
"Hey, you surnamed He, are you still in contact with the second son of the Luo family? Don't try to hide it from me, of course I know about your little schemes. Maybe the Luo family knows too, they just haven't bothered with you."
"Don't panic, I just want to confirm one thing..."
Author's Note: The next chapter will focus on the sweet romance between the older brother and Ah Li. The younger brother should be back soon.
