Chapter 118 You're not my husband?! (29) "You should call him..."

The host of the banquet began to speak, and the lights were dimmed slightly. Fu Li and Luo Ze sat in the middle seats, with few other people around, which made it convenient for them to talk.

Luo Ze hesitated for a long time before finally speaking softly, "A Li..." His voice betrayed a lot of unspoken words.

Fu Li turned her head in confusion, looking at him with an inquiring gaze, and asked, "What's wrong? Is there something you want to say?"

His deep brown pupils were clear as a mirror, revealing no strange emotions, reflecting the complex expression on the man's face in the shadows.

Luo Ze lowered his eyes and said in a low, hoarse voice, "It's nothing."

Meanwhile, a few rows away, a pair of deep eyes were staring intently in their direction, or more precisely, fixed on Fu Li.

The woman, who arrived late, sat down in the empty seat next to him. Following his gaze, she said with amusement, "You insisted on following me here just to see him, but now it looks like you've been spying on me."

Luo Ran's expression instantly turned sharp as a knife. He glanced at her coldly and said nothing.

Lilith chuckled ambiguously and continued, "It's obvious that Loze won't allow you to see him. After all, nominally he's your brother's partner, so shouldn't you call him sister-in-law?"

Upon hearing this, the man's expression turned even colder.

In public, he always appeared gentle and refined, rarely showing any sharp or cold side, which somewhat overlapped with his brother's temperament.

But at least she maintained a semblance of civility: "Miss Lilith, don't forget we're just business partners. Please refrain from commenting on my personal matters."

The woman wasn't angry when she heard this. She casually brushed her long hair behind her ear and lowered her voice, saying, "Don't worry, you want to win back your beloved, while I just want to extract more benefits from the Luo family. We each get what we need."

Luo Ran lowered her eyelashes and said in a low voice, "It's not about stealing, it's about saving. Luo Ze forcibly took Ali by force and kept her by his side. I just want to save her."

For this, he could break his oath and abandon his freedom; he wanted to be the knight who would rescue the imprisoned little prince from jail.

He wouldn't have chosen this path if he hadn't been forced into a corner, if his bottom line hadn't been crossed.

Although Fu Li's emotions seemed unaffected by Luo Ran's appearance, Luo Ze remained wary and, before the banquet ended, made an excuse to leave with Fu Li in a hurry. Because Luo Ze was always escorted by a group of security personnel, Luo Ran couldn't find a suitable opportunity to approach Fu Li and could only watch their car drive away.

Until the taillights disappeared from sight, he stood on the terrace, clenching his fists in resentment. A faint pain throbbed in his knuckles, but it was not as painful as the look in his eyes.

After returning home, Luo Ze hesitated to mention seeing Luo Ran earlier that day. Although it was only a brief encounter, it was the first time Fu Li had seen Luo Ran in almost a year.

As for the last time, it was on the way Luo Ran led him to escape. And that time, it ended with Luo Ran having his ten fingers broken on his twin brother's orders, and Fu Li being forcibly taken back by him, which was not a good outcome.

But their lives continued to move forward. Since Fu Li opened her heart to him, their relationship had developed considerably.

But Luo Ze hesitated for a long time and still didn't dare to speak to Fu Li.

He really wanted to know how Fu Li felt now—whether she still had feelings for Luo Ran, or had already let go.

He hoped it would be the latter, yet feared it would be the former.

That night, the two did not engage in any sexual intimacy, but instead slept together in a rare, pure way.

Just as Fu Li was about to drift off to sleep, she heard Luo Ze suddenly speak in a low voice:

“Ah Li, you saw Luo Ran today.”

Isn't that obvious? Such a big, living person, it's hard to ignore.

Fu Li inwardly grumbled, but knew Luo Ze would always ask this question. She gave a soft "hmm," her voice hoarse, as if her consciousness was already fading.

The man asked hesitantly, "Do you... have any thoughts?"

For several seconds, no one spoke; the young man seemed to have fallen asleep.

Just then, his clear voice rang out: "How is he doing?"

Luo Ze: "It should be good. I heard his wedding with Lilith Wiley is coming up soon." He answered tentatively, emphasizing Luo Ran's wedding.

Fu Li took a deep breath and, as if it were a normal sigh, said in a casual tone, "That's good."

After that, he didn't say anything more, nor did he mention Luo Ran at all.

Luo Ze placed his hand on his chest, feeling the steady heartbeat, as if his emotions were truly calm and indifferent.

Feeling a little relieved, I embraced the person in my arms and slowly drifted off to sleep.

Author's Note: This chapter is a bit short, haha. [Let me see...]
