Chapter 124 Epilogue (2) Inside the Starship...

Chapter 124 Epilogue (2) Inside the Starship...

The interior of the starship was as understated and simple as its owner. Fu Li leaned back in the particle-filled armchair, his eyes half-closed as if he were dozing.

Neither of them spoke from the moment they got in the car, and as time went on, the atmosphere inside the car gradually became stagnant.

What are your plans for the future?

Finally, Vitley spoke first, his cool voice steady and slow, sounding like a classical melody.

Fu Li turned her face to the other side, somewhat impatiently: "Go back to being a space pirate."

"no!"

Fu Li suddenly opened her eyes and saw that the man in the driver's seat had his brows furrowed and his eyes were filled with anger and other emotions that were hard to tell.

He scoffed, "What else could I be doing? General, I was born a space pirate, and I switched identities to enter the interstellar military academy just to learn a few things. You know all this perfectly well, so why are you acting so shocked?" His tone was extremely sarcastic.

The man frowned, his handsome, deep-set face showing a serious expression.

After a long silence, he spoke: "You graduated from the best military academy in the interstellar space, so you are perfectly qualified to serve in the military. I can help you arrange this."

"There's only one rule: you're not allowed to become a space pirate anymore."

Fu Li scoffed, "After all these years, how come you still have this spoiled brat mentality? What else can I do if I don't become a space pirate?! Do you really think the military would accept someone with a space pirate background?!"

"You stay with me for now, I'll figure something out."

The young man glared at him with his fox-like eyes. "Vitley, are you out of your mind? I was doing just fine as a space pirate and you had to arrest me, and now you want me to join the army. Why do you have to meddle in my affairs?!"

Vitley did not answer, his gaze fixed ahead, and silently increased the speed of the spaceship.

An hour later, the two arrived at the general's residence.

The house is large, a detached house, with a small garden outside. The lawn is neatly trimmed, but there are no flowers planted on it.

The furnishings in the room were finally not as monotonous as those on the starship; they had a simple yet luxurious and grand beauty, and it was clear that they had been carefully designed.

The master bedroom and guest rooms were both on the second floor. Vitley led his men upstairs and opened one of the room doors to show him.

"You'll stay here for now. You have the right to use everything in this house. Just let me know if you need anything."

The interior decoration was more luxurious than other places, as if it were specially prepared for the person who was about to move in, and every part perfectly suited Fu Li's taste.

He stood at the doorway, glanced inside, and raised an eyebrow in surprise, asking, "You gave me the master bedroom?"

Vitley said calmly, "It was originally prepared for you."

Fu Li glanced at him sideways with the look of someone looking at a sucker.

A room given away for free? Why not take it?

Without any hesitation, he walked in and plopped down on the silk-velvet bed. He rocked back and forth a bit; the firmness was just right, and he let out a satisfied sigh.

"Thanks. Your bed is quite comfortable." Fu Li smiled, her eyes crinkling like a contented cat.

The person by the door darkened slightly, a strange and indescribable dark light emanating from their eyes, like an invisible rope wrapping around them.

That night, Fu Li tossed and turned in bed. He couldn't figure out what Vitley's purpose was.

They took him home, provided him with good food and drink, and even offered to find a way to get him into the army.

Something unusual is bound to happen.

He was the one who arrested him in the first place, and he's also the one who brought him out now. Human trafficking? Surely not for a general.

Frustrated, he scratched his head. If it weren't for the absence of the electronic voice from the system tablet in his mind, he would have thought that the labor reform bureau had reassigned him to a parallel world.

The next day, Fu Li didn't wake up until it was fully light. When she came downstairs, Vitterle, dressed in casual clothes, was carrying a plate out of the kitchen. The plate was filled with vibrant dishes, enough to whet one's appetite at first glance.

Fu Li was somewhat surprised and pointed to the neatly arranged food on the table, asking, "Did you make this? Aren't you going to drink the nutritional supplements?"

Vitley leaned forward and slowly put down the plate, his soft hair falling over his eyebrows. Compared to his military uniform yesterday, his demeanor was much softer, and for a few moments he even gave the impression of a stay-at-home husband.

"I got back too late yesterday, so I used nutrient solution to cope. I usually cook for myself at home."

He raised his right hand and gestured for Fu Li to sit down.

Fu Li naturally didn't intend to stand on ceremony with him, pulling out a chair and sitting down at the dining table. The fragrant and smooth dishes were much tastier than the cold, hard nutritional liquid, so she immediately started eating.

After the first bite, a slight sense of surprise filled me. I looked up at the man opposite me and asked, "How did you prepare this squirrel-shaped mandarin fish?"

Vitley didn't seem surprised by his question, and said casually, "I added a little too much sugar. Don't you like sweets?"

Without touching his chopsticks, he got up and ladled a bowl of mushroom soup for Fu Li, placing it beside his bowl.

"Try it."

After trying a little of each dish, Fu Li's suspicions grew stronger.

Almost every dish gave him a sense of familiarity, as if traveling through long years and reawakening the dormant nerves in his taste buds.

Before this, he had never eaten any of Vitley's cooking, nor had he ever heard that he would cook for himself.

Fu Li put down her chopsticks, her brows furrowing slightly.

"What? Not to your liking?"

The man's voice was clear and lingering, reaching my ears without concealing his concern.
