Chapter 376: The Prison of Emotions
Xiang Nuan stayed in the study room after returning home, and was absent-minded even when Jiang Ranran came to play with her.
"Are you sick?" Ran Ran couldn't help but ask, as she rarely saw her so quiet and depressed.
"Maybe, I am a little bit..." Xiang Nuan looked at Ran Ran and suddenly felt like crying. She didn't finish her words but just hugged him: "I'll go upstairs and take a nap. I'll be fine when I wake up."
"Then go quickly!" Jiang Ranran held her hand, her eyes full of concern, "When I was sick, grandpa would let me lie down obediently."
Xiang Nuan tried her best to force a smile and was pulled by Jiang Ranran into the bedroom step by step.
"Go to sleep. I promise to be quiet and quiet."
Jiang Ranran was so well behaved that Xiang Nuan felt like she was about to burst into tears. She kissed him on the cheek and fell headfirst onto the bed.
Maybe she was just tired, she thought to herself. She had been running around like a busy market these days, it would be strange if she wasn't tired. So all this was just emotional fluctuations caused by being too tired. She would definitely be able to come up with a plan to deal with it when she woke up.
Jiang Ranran lay at the foot of the bed like a kitten, blinking his big eyes at her. Xiang Nuan opened his arms, and he smiled sweetly and suddenly got into her arms.
"I'm about to fall asleep. If you're bored, come downstairs and ask grandpa to keep you company for a while, okay?" Her voice was infinitely gentle and soft, and it didn't seem like her at all as she possessed the special skill of shouting and killing.
"Do you want me to sing a song for you? Or I can read a story to you." Jiang Ranran was also docile, which was very inconsistent with the rumored reputation of a bear fighter.
This is a bad sign. She couldn't help but tell herself that everything was changing, everything was deviating from its original track.
"Then sing a song, your favorite."
Jiang Ranran tilted his head and thought seriously. He had hardly ever sung a song, and the few he knew were all learned in kindergarten.
Xiang Nuan couldn't help but smile when she saw his serious expression, and she slowly closed her eyes.
"There is only one good mother in the world~~~"
Xiang Nuanxin was startled, tears suddenly slipped from the corners of her eyes. She quickly pretended to rub her eyes and wiped them away, taking a deep breath to suppress the sudden surge of emotions.
"Isn't this song good?" Jiang Ranran asked naively.
"It's nice. This is the song my mother sang to me when I was a child."
"Your mother? What does your mother look like?" Jiang Ranran found a new topic and suddenly became excited.
Xiang Nuan was stunned by the question. She didn't have any family in this world.
This was another bad sign. Her original world was penetrating into her current life in various ways, trying to pull her back.
She shook her head, trying to get these weird thoughts out of her mind.
"Let's change the song. Can you sing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star?"
Jiang Ranran nodded and lay down in her arms, singing a song that had nothing to do with the stars. Xiang Nuan smiled and slid into sleep little by little following the strange melody.
…
She didn't know how long she slept, nor did she notice when Ran Ran left. When she opened her eyes, it was pitch black, and the whole world was eerily quiet.
Is it a dream?
No, no, she took a long time to react and slowly recognized the surrounding environment. She was sure that this was not a dream, she really woke up, but at night. Her first reaction was to quickly confirm her location and status. When she was sure that she had not gone back and was still here, she felt a little relieved.
She actually slept the whole day. She stretched her waist and took her phone to see that it was almost 11 o'clock, and the messages from Jiang Yunhui and Elena reporting safety were still flashing.
She didn't know if they would be worried if they didn't receive her timely reply. She wanted to send a message to Jiang Yunhui, but then she thought that this guy must have contacted Uncle Huo, so she felt that there was no rush.
She suddenly remembered something and turned to the other side, took out the small box from the drawer at the bedside, touched it gently but did not open it, and pushed it deeper.
It's just a proposal, it doesn't mean anything, at worst they won't get married. Just thinking about it, her nose felt sore again.
She couldn't help but blurt out a Chinese quintessence. It seemed that sleeping was useless and couldn't make her stronger or more rational at all.
She slowly got up and tiptoed to Ranran's room to make sure the little guy was sleeping soundly. Then she slowly walked to the dining room and poured herself a large glass of water.
My brain is awake but my stomach is not. I don't feel hungry even though I haven't eaten anything all day. Xiang Nuan opened the refrigerator door and couldn't help laughing at the various ingredients neatly sorted by Uncle Huo. This is too healthy. There is no technological snack that can soothe the soul.
She even thought that a bottle of beer would be a good choice, but it was a pity that Jiang Yunhui didn't have any down-to-earth "bad habits".
This family was so scary that she closed the refrigerator door silently.
The bright moonlight attracted her to the yard, and she sat in the recliner with a cup of water in her hand. She suddenly remembered the clearing in the woods that Jiang Yunhui had taken her to, where the stars were much brighter and closer than here.
They haven't been there for a long time...
"Would you like a drink?" Uncle Huo was actually standing behind her holding two wine glasses. Although she was shocked, the surprise was also very intense.
"Why do you have some hidden stuff?" Xiang Nuan asked with a smile.
Uncle Huo poured her a half-full glass of red wine and handed it to her, clinking glasses with her elegantly: "I haven't congratulated you yet, ma'am."
Her smile froze for a moment, she tilted her head back and drank it all in one gulp, then she smiled again: "Thank you, Uncle Huo."
Uncle Huo was obviously shocked by her action and was stunned for a moment. He also raised his head and drank it all, and poured her a little more.
"You don't know how happy I am. The young master is finally going to have a home."
Damn it, Xiang Nuan had no idea how to respond to this trust. She drank again, and poured the words stuck in her throat back into her stomach.
She raised her glass and motioned for Uncle Huo to refill it, but this time Uncle Huo put away the bottle.
"Your way of drinking is not okay. Even if you are happy, you have to drink in moderation." Uncle Huo smiled indulgently.
"I'm a little scared, Uncle Huo." Xiang Nuan suddenly spoke, but somehow the tears that she had been holding back for a whole day burst out.
Uncle Huo was frightened by this sudden situation and didn't know how to comfort him.
Why are you crying? There was a voice yelling at Nuan in contempt. But she decided not to hold back her tears, as if she would not stop until she had cried her heart out.
"When happiness comes, people are more or less afraid." Uncle Huo said tentatively, "Just like when you first came here, I saw the light in the young master's eyes, and I was also afraid at that time. I was afraid that such happiness would be fleeting, and it would be a waste of time. Facts have proved that I, an old man, was overthinking. When happiness comes, I just need to catch it steadily."
Xiang Nuan couldn't control her tears anymore. If she didn't cry hard today, she was afraid she wouldn't be able to relieve the grievance in her heart.
"Okay, okay, everything will be fine." Uncle Huo patted her back gently...
