Chapter 450: True Happiness
The next day, Xiang Nuan went to the intersection again. She was anxious all the way, not knowing what kind of ending she was expecting. What she feared most was not that Yu Xin had traveled back in time, but that Yu Xin had never been there and everything was just her empty fantasy.
When she stood at the intersection and saw the convenience store again, tears couldn't help but well up in her eyes.
"This is the agency's phone number, you can go ask them." The store manager came back, but he was more alert than the clerk.
"Can I... walk around?" Xiang Nuan asked. She was so surprised yesterday that she didn't even come in to check around.
"Of course, this is a store, please feel free to browse."
Xiang Nuan also laughed in silence. Her question was too stupid. She slowly checked every corner of the store. The store had been rearranged and there was no trace of the past. Even the window facing the street had become a snack display stand, which was completely different from the desk that was once covered with fallen leaves.
There was nothing left, not even a piece of paper.
"I remembered a place." When Xiang Nuan was about to leave, the clerk from yesterday suddenly spoke.
"I saw some books in the corner when I was cleaning up the warehouse."
"What?!" Xiang Nuan's cooling blood seemed to suddenly run through with electricity.
"I see that you look dazed and depressed... If you want to go, I can take you there." The clerk said this before looking at the store manager, but he was busy in the corner and had obviously forgotten Xiang Nuan's existence.
"Thank you so much. Where is the warehouse?"
"In the basement, follow me."
Xiang Nuan clutched the corner of her clothes tightly and followed the clerk to the basement. She never knew there was a basement here. Maybe Yu Xin also stored those outdated books here before?
The basement was filled with shelves that contained the same merchandise as upstairs. Xiang Nuan looked at them one by one and walked to the deepest cabinet.
"I put it here." The clerk opened the cabinet door.
Xiang Nuan gasped as she saw some old and randomly stacked books. Although she had no impression of these books and had never read them in a bookstore, she felt like she had seen an old friend she had not seen for a long time.
She reached out and stroked the spines of the books, and suddenly stopped in front of a thin little book. The damaged packaging made it impossible to see the title of the book, but she saw a circled number 31.
She took a trembling breath, carefully pulled it out, and squeezed her eyes shut the moment she saw the cover.
"Can I take this book? I can pay for it..."
"It's okay, you can take it. It will be thrown away if you leave it here."
He thanked Xiang Nuan and walked back into the sunshine with the book.
She opened the book again, flipping through the pages, and it was as if those people came to life, walked out, approached her and asked her, "Do you like basketball?"
[Has anyone ever told you that you look like Kogure Konobu? ]
Xiang Nuan's tears fell down.
Yu Xin really existed, and that bookstore really existed, but they were leaving here, leaving her world and starting their own new life.
No matter if you travel back in time or go somewhere else, you have eventually broken through the control of the plot and walked out of your own life.
Thinking of this, Xiang Nuan burst into laughter again.
…
"You left early in the morning. I thought you were in a hurry to come to the exhibition hall first." Jiang Yunhui greeted her with a smile as soon as he saw her. "Where have you been?"
Xiang Nuan shook her head and suddenly hugged his neck tightly.
Chu Ran was about to come over to ask her about her work, but when he saw this scene, he made a sharp turn, turned around and ran away. Elena was about to meet him, but was bumped into by her.
"Be careful!" Elena supported her.
"Sorry, sorry," Chu Ran quickly stuck out her tongue. She turned back to look at Nuan and couldn't help but take a deep breath. Elena followed her gaze and couldn't help but smile: "You'll get used to it slowly. They are very affectionate."
"Uh..." Chu Ran blushed.
Xiang Nuan was not aware of all this. She just wanted to truly feel Jiang Yunhui's heartbeat and feel that her choice was not wrong.
"What's wrong? Are you still thinking about Chen Weiming?" Jiang Yunhui asked with concern. He thought Chen Weiming's death had touched her too much.
"If you hadn't chosen me at the time, what do you think would have happened?"
"What are you talking about?"
"I mean, you interviewed a lot of people at that time, didn't you? Anyone could have become Ranran's 'mother'..."
Jiang Yunhui's face gradually darkened and he stared into her eyes seriously.
"I only know that I chose you. Ranran and I both chose you. It was destined."
"I'm a little scared..." Xiang Nuan threw herself into his arms and hugged him tightly, "I'm afraid that I've never been here, I'm afraid that I'll disappear, I'm afraid that you'll forget all this."
"Oh my God." Jiang Yunhui hugged her back tightly, "You are really frightened and really tired. We won't work today. I will take you to rest for a day."
"Oh, no... I just..."
"Shh..."
Jiang Yunhui stroked her hair and whispered in her ear: "We shouldn't be here now. I'll take you somewhere."
Xiang Nuan wanted to say something else, but she really wanted to go with him, only with him.
Jiang Yunhui briefly explained to Elena, then ran towards her, suddenly grabbed her hand and fled away. Xiang Nuan was caught off guard by him and almost ran out of breath.
"Why...are we running..."
"I told her I'm done with it!"
"What?! You…"
"Don't talk, run!"
Xiang Nuan was about to collapse. He was not helping her at all, he was just causing trouble. She couldn't help but look back, and saw a group of people chasing after her. Elena was the leader, of course, holding the design draft in her hand like a brick, wishing she could throw it at him like a dart.
Jiang Yunhui didn't give her a chance to resist. He "stuffed" her into the car, then drove away towards the suburbs.
"I'm not quitting. You're just listening to Yunhui teasing you. It'll only take a moment. I'll be back in a moment!" Xiang Nuan explained to Elena on the phone, and finally managed to suppress her "anger". The moment she hung up the phone, she could hear the hissing sound of the flames.
"Look what you have done!" Xiang Nuan said angrily.
"Isn't it fun?" Jiang Yunhui stretched out a hand and pinched her face.
Xiang Nuan opened him unhappily and stared into the distance angrily.
"Where are we going?"
“A sanctuary of healing.”
"ah?"
Xiang Nuan’s question was soon answered. This was not some other place but the open space where they once lay side by side and looked at the stars.
"I haven't been back for a long time." Jiang Yunhui sighed as he held her hand and walked forward.
When they reached the familiar grassland, Xiang Nuan couldn't help but burst into laughter.
In the broad daylight, there was only one sun in the sky, and it was so hot that you couldn't even look directly at it. Not to mention recuperation, even sunbathing had to be done to a very high degree.
"Look at the stars?" she joked.
"Well, look," Jiang Yunhui pointed to the sky seriously, "the one blocked by the clouds is definitely the brightest. We can make a bet and see if I'm right after dark."
Jiang Yunhui sat down, patted his side and motioned Xiang Nuan to sit down too.
Okay, let’s be crazy.
Xiang Nuan pursed her lips and sat down like him. They looked into the distance together, listening to the wind blowing through the forest and the birds jumping around overhead. The world suddenly became quiet.
"Listen." Jiang Yunhui whispered.
"What?"
"My heartbeat."
Jiang Yunhui covered his heart and looked at Xiang Nuan affectionately: "It's saying I love you."
Xiang Nuan smiled and put her ear against his heart. The sonorous heartbeat shook her eardrum, real and powerful. All of this was real. Her happiness was also real.
"Thank you, Yunhui."
She raised her head, met his gentle gaze, and kissed his warm lips.
